You know, for as much as I've played my Saturn, I dont know if I've ever played Nights. 

Hm. I really wanted to check this show out. Sucks it won't be getting finished. 

I feel like every couple years he teases it out again. Really hoping they just do it at this point. 

I might have to pickup the audiobook for my drive to New Orleans this week. 

Yeah we did a breakdown of all the drama last night on the show and holy SHIT its just insane to try and go back and parse. She's def finished. I've seen a lot of people on twitter be like....yeah we sure did jump to conclusions there. 

The best part is that he's narrating the audiobook

I was saying last night, that if this attempt at silent hill goes well, I wouldn't be surprised if next October we'd see the same kinda showcase but for Castlevania. Pretty sure the animation for the new series should be done by then.

• Silent Hill 2 Remake - looks like UE5?  james' face reminds me of a young david lynch (haha) but the CG stuff looked amazing.  i'm gonna go play more bloober stuff soon to get a feel for their work
• SH F (V?) - the logo stilly posted, what we saw in the trailer looked cool and these details: "A completely new story set in 1960's Japan featuring a beautiful, yet horrifying world. Written by Ryūkishi07, famed for Japanese visual novels dealing with murder mysteries, psychological and supernatural horror."  setting looks awesome, and apparently the writer is great on VN's (Higurashi and Umineko, i've not played either yet)
• Townfall was also a short trailer but what's there seemed...i mean, i played through all the endings of homecoming and like half of downfall, it clearly doesn't take much to get me on board so fuck it let's go (in all seriousness, quieter/anthology type stories would be really cool if done well)
• Ascension seems...ambitious?  i know that horror streams are popular but i don't really think of it as a social genre as much, they gave really vague details on how this'd play but it sounds worth checking out
• the director of the first movie (still one of the better video game adaptations, i think) is coming back for a part 2, seems really excited for more pyramid head
• also a ton of merch, figures to statues - they look quality, i just...like, i adore SH2, i don't know that my game room needs frightening monuments to it but that might just be me
  
  overall, getting ito & composer yamaoko tells me they're taking this a lot more seriously than 10 years back when they kinda farmed out the franchise to whoever.  granted, these are smaller european studios, but what we saw here made a lot of this look more good than bad

 

 

 

as a former konami diehard, i will absolutely say they've fucked up & buried classic franchises far worse than atlus...MGS V alone was left unfinished,  they locked out kojima & his studio effectively killing silent hills (and were even petty enough to make sure PT doesn't work on PS5's!)

frankly i was surprised they announced sukoden 1 & 2 revival this summer, while somehow worried they'd even fuck that up

I know, I know you were ALL waiting for my opinions on the Silent Hill news. I am here to grace you with my presence and talk about all of it. (also I'm using this space to write out my thoughts before tonights main topic which is exactly this >_>)

Sh2 remake: Excited. I think fans have a problem...hanging on to the past. Sh2 is a sacred book to a lot of people and changing any of it will instantly set people off. That being said, a lot of people said that about RE2 and look what we got. Now, lets talk bloober. Bloober teams stuff is...maddeningly mid tier. But they do a lot of OG IPs and they are taking risks in the horror space where a lot of people aren't. I'd consider them like a AA developer. That being said, I'm pretty sure they know the weight of this project and are going to take time with it. 

SH F: I'm getting a real "Silent Hill as an anthology" vibe from this. Less of a, every game MUST be in silent hill and more of a silent hill is a state of mind kinda thing. I don't know the creators other works, but if he's big enough to get his name slapped on the trailer - he must be important. Either way, trailer was beautiful and maybe we can enjoy a SH not based in the town. 

Townfall: Whooooo boy the pedigree on the team working on this.  I have not played Stories Untold or Observation - but I do know Stories untold won a fuckton of awards. Do NOT expect an old school SH experience here. Shits going to be heavy on the story and probably a little lighter on the gameplay. (less action-y I should say). 

Ascension: No real comment at this time. Felt like a lot of buzzwords and I don't want to pre-judge the game until I see more. 

Movie: Look, I love Sh2..like a lot. A lot, a lot. I am hoping with this remake and movie we can put it to bed for a while. I get it, SH has been gone a long time, and going back to the grandaddy of all SH games is an important step in the future of the franchise (plus money maker). Its the creator of the first movie, which I still love and is one of the best if not the best game adaptation of all time. I'll def see it opening weekend. 

SO yeah, to my movie point, there's a cool future for silent hill. We've been begging for content for so long and to get so much all at once is overwhelming. I will say, there are some naysayers out there and it's easy to listen to their BS but don't. I will say, support the new products if you feel they are worthy of your cash because that's how we get out of the endless loop of remakes and to some new content. 

I think we as silent hill fans need to let go of the past and start thinking about what the future of the series can be. Its time to move past the red pyramid things and see what other stories can be told in this universe. I think Konami picked some excellent teams to do this and I think the future of silent hill, is very bright. 

I know this is a little off topic, but ive had a couple VA friends say that, that's one of the things that kinda sucked during the pandemic for them (aside from the pandemic of it all) was a lot of big names getting into VO because they needed work and it was easy for studios to get the big names in cheaper. So, the smaller names got pushed to the side. 

I appreciate Peeles commitment to Evangelion. 

Yeah, Jennifer Hale came out today and was like...yall, im under NDA but do support my fellow VAs. I think a lot of people attacked her for all this (because the fucking internet) and she had to say something.

So like, I don't think we're gonna see MCU deadpool. I think if they did do MCU deadpool it would be like what happened to venom. Blinked in, blinked out, some random MCU cameo. 

Basically just enough MCU to say, "deadpool was in a MCU film" and not make a liar out of RR.  (also it would pretty funny) 

It makes sense they would get ol Jacked-man to come in, given all the cross promotional shit they have done over the years.

I'm going to check out ep 6 this weekend. Got past ep 5 and saw the title of the next one and went...ok im going to wait until I can settle in for this. 

I really want to see the new season since his what we do in the shadows peeps are supposed to make an appearance. 

Also, agreed. This show is fantastic. It took a few episodes to grow on me but I really loved it. 

Its SO SO SO SO SO good.
