Haha! Quite the surprise seeing Will (Chewtastrophe) at our showing of Black Panther. After the film (that was fantastic, btw) I forced him back on Hondos. Hopefully it sticks.

I just have to beat my previous record...

    ;p

  2. Was not expecting this in the boardgame thread. I thought this was about things like Ticket to Ride, or Arkham Horror. I mean, I love monopoly as much as the next guy but there's a great Renaissance going on in the board game space right now.

    ^ Fact!

    Personal favorites:

    Takenoko

    Coup

    Shadows Over Camelot

    Acquire

    Zombicide

(Though these are just from the ones I own.)

  3. I took the bait from a Blizz email about getting a free upgrade to WoD with a free 90 boost and a free 7 day pass (which is like offering up the table Tony Montana is sitting at in the end of "Scarface" to a once-junkie, but here we are); after the first day getting my Alliance toon up to 91, I was unimpressed - but, the Horde side (story-wise) had me right back in full on nostalgia mode with the whole storyline. I'm 92 on my Druid (bear) and I'm contemplating buying a time card.

Not sure how I feel about the garrison situation though. . .

  4. Just came across this anime called "Joker Game."

It deals with Japanese spies right as World War II is about to start. The description didn't sell me on it, even though I love the World War II era AND spies; but I will say that by the end of the 2nd episode I was intrigued to see where it was going to go.

It is definitely A LOT slower paced than everything else I've liked this Spring, but I think that's what makes it refreshing (and what helps it stand out).

    Consider it recommended.

  5. Here's an image of Kiznaiver, so you can see how much it has stayed close to but has also evolved from Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill.

The post-apocalypse/zombie one I saw is called: "Koutetsujou No Kabaneri."

The zombies have an almost "Attack on Titan" feel to them.

  6. Just saw the first episode of this anime and was pleasantly surprised to see the Trigger studio back at it again (with the white vans) with a very different premise than what I'm used to from them.

This anime is going to follow a group of students who all share pain evenly between themselves. I'm digging the themes and the animation style, so I'm definitely going to see where this goes.

  7. I've had to digest the ending of this 12-episode anime since it ended a couple of weeks ago.

This thing was phenomenal - beginning to end - I loved it!

    Highly recommend it!

Best way I could try to sell it is: Imagine "Quantum Leap" and "Murder, She Wrote" crashing together into a Japanese art studio and giving birth this!

    Must. Watch.

  8. I just got around to watching it this week, and I have to agree on the "this shouldn't be put off" mentality. I regret that it took me so long to get around to this. Fantastic show. Takes all the tropes of a magical girl anime and lets in on what might be behind the looking glass. Loved it!

  9. There's a fantastic anime called "Ore monogatari" - "My Love Story" - which is comedically brilliant.

Some others I highly recommend though:

    "Aldnoah.Zero"

    "Bokudake ga inaimachi" ("Erased")

    "World Trigger"

With A.Z you got 2 seasons of tight 12 episodes. Well paced. Mechs. Space civil war. Usual shenanigans.

Erased is by far this winter season's best show, and arguably the best written and handled show of the last few years.

World Trigger is currently on its 71st episode, so I think that speaks for itself. I picked up when it first came out and I have enjoyed the ride through it all.

I try to watch at least 3 or 4 anime shows per seasonal outpour so if you ever need any more recommendations or if you're hesitant about a show I've seen, I'll let you know my honest opinion.

    Happy viewing!

  10. Greetings & salutations!

Didn't see an area for just table top gaming so I figured I'd ask here: There any table-toppers (board gamers, war gamers, pen and paper gamers)?

Specifically, any Dungeons & Dragons players out there in the Hondo-sphere?
