  1. Twitter's not for everyone but it's certainly not deserving of some of the negativity it's gotten. Then again, I'm on the other side of the fence. I for one can not STAND Facebook. I had it for a while, then got rid of it because it did absolutely nothing for me. I'm even considering killing my Myspace. Again, does nothing for me except fill up my inbox with the very same 'buddy updates' that I could get on Twitter, without the browser-killing videos animated gifs, and bullshit 'games'. I like my social networking to be short, sweet, to the point, without a lot of time-consuming rubbish, so Twitter works just fine for me. -nods-

  2. Using my Twitter more (as well as all my other social networking sites) was one of my New Years resolutions. I haven't been keeping up with it yet.

I've been using mine off and on for a year. I like the concept of trying to update what you're up to in only 140 characters. I can write a long blog about every boring detail of my day to day routine, but the way I usually write, it's usually met with 'TL&DR'.

With Twitter I feel like I can keep those who are interested up on what I'm up to... keep up communication with people who are usually VERy long winded (more so than myself) without getting overwhelmed, and keep up with some of my favorite celebs and news (@GregGrunberg, @theBandfromTV, @CFNews13 to name a few). I like it. :birf2:

    @Jesi

Feel free to follow me if you like. :)

IDEA: A whole page of the hondonian twitter badges. that would be full of win.

  3. Okay, I haven't seen him posted - then again I haven't looked very hard. So here we go.

I've blazed through four and a half seasons of [H]ouse on DVD and iTunes, in six weeks.

I've read half of his first novel, "The Gun Seller".

I've purchased and repeatedly watched/listened to Band from TV's "Hoggin All the Covers" CD / DVD because he plays the piano and sings for the band.

I think it's safe to say I've become just a little... itty bitty bit fond of Hugh Laurie.

It's ironic, really. For the LONGEST time, I SWORE I wasn't going to get into House. But damn if I didn't get stuck watching it on a marathon on USA while at my mom's house, and that was all it took. I found the character of House so entertaining and intriguing and ... well, sexy in his incorrigible abrasiveness and unapologetic intellect... that I couldn't ... stop ... watching.

Then I started learning a bit about the man behind Gregory House. This guy is so goddamn multitalented and yet so humble it's enough to drive one crazy. Guitar, piano, acting, songwriting, bookwriting, drama, comedy, and then some. There isn't a thing I dont like about Hugh, but among my favorite features are the eyes, the accent, the subtle (and not so subtle) facial expressions, and the quirky, wildly funny sense of humor. In my opinion, he is proof positive that some men just get better and better with age.

So with out further ado, I give you... [H]ugh [L]aurie

A video from Inside the Actors Studio ... Hugh performs his song, "Mystery", a sweet and sentimental and yet uproariously funny song about a long lost love.

It's lengthy, but very very funny... a fan-made video, 25 Facts about Being Hugh Laurie

Maybe I'm the only girl on the boards who has a thing for him, but I wouldn't be a true fan if I didn't show some love. ^_^

  4. Ok, havent read all of the posts... but wanna throw something out there. If it has already been suggested, then I am sorry...

anyone interested in picking 1 server and starting our own guild with new characters if you have a slot avail so we can level and such at the same time/evenly?

Hondos has a guild established. It's on... Duskwood, I believe. Not sure if its alliance or horde. I've tried other servers but I'm too tied to my beloved Earthen Ring to dedicate myself to them.

  5. DJ got to make a FigurePrint of his night elf druid earlier this year, but was also kind enough to re-register so that I would have a chance to get one, too. And lo, his efforts finally paid off. I'll be ordering my print in the next few days, and in a few months' time, I'll have my very own FigurePrint of my beloved Night Elf Warrior. Mine is not to display the fruits of hundreds of hours of raiding or loot-collecting, mostly because I'm not into that style of gameplay. My night elf, who I've played for going on three years, is not even near top-level, and thusly has no top-tier equipment to brag about. However, she will proudly be displayed in armor and gear that I feel suits her personality and history as I've built her in an RP environment. While it'll take several months to actually get the statue, I made up an animation of how she'll look once she's in my hands.

 Lots of love to DJ for giving me this opportunity.

  6. Here's another brilliant yet little-known musical comedian named Rob Paravonian, doing a rant about how he -hates- Pachelbel's Canon in D.

...I swear to God, I can't listen to -any- of those songs anymore. Watch the vid and you'll know what I mean.

  7. I play, but I'm mostly quite useless as a WoW-player. I hate PVP, can't really stand the repetitive questing, have zero interest in going in and raiding the same dungeon over and over again. I'm there for the social aspect, almost exclusively RP. So if anyone's interested in that... come knock on my door (Mykaela @ Earthen Ring US, Alliance). As far as changing servers... I'd be willing to create a toon wherever, but I'm likely to just park 'em somewhere and chitchat with you while you all do your thing. -shrug-

  8. While the Government will go out of it's way to shut down sites that have this kind of material, viewing it is still not illegal.

Which is exactly why I would just prefer to say "Not in my back yard" to the underage girls. The age of 'consent' may be 16 in parts of europe, it's 16 in parts of the US as well. But according to the Sexual Offenses Act of 2003 (UK), and Title 18, Chapter 110 of the US Code Collection, as well as for general intents and purposes the legal age for models in provocative, erotic, or pornographic viewing material in the US, where most of our members are from, is 18, as is the age for models from the UK and many other countries in the European Union. While we're talking "age of consent" - That's a broad spectrum catch-phrase used for a "cover your ass" tactic. For minors (any person under the legal adult age of 18), there is a 2-3 year age cap. So if you're 18 having sex with a 16 year old, that's okay. 19, 20 and sleeping with a 17 year old, it's getting close, but it's okay. But if you're 25, 26, 27, and having sex with anyone - ANYONE under the age of 18, you better pray you don't get caught. Going back to the original argument, if you're viewing images of underage girls it on the internet, it's been downloaded to your computer whether you actively save it to an archive or not, so if the Powers That Be wanted to come in and shut us down, that's all the proof they would technically need. And while I appreciate the argument that you want to "post girls your own age" - You're 18, dude. You're an adult like the rest of us, now.

  9. sorry about that guys, guess i didn't really think it through

    1177680736471cu7.th.jpg

so, uh. question then. can i share the links via the PM service (had a few requests), or is that prohibited as well?

Nick will have to step in and make the final say-so on this, but if you're going to be trading underage porn, personally I'd prefer it if you did it through some other outlet that isn't connected to the boards. I can't control what you do beyond this section of the boards, but I can kindly request that you extract your cranium from your rectum and allow the fresh air to stimulate a bit of brain power before you go putting people at risk for legal troubles.

  10. just playing devil's advocate, proven before guilty, that's all I'm saying, he's either a liar or a criminal, but we shouldn't rule out liar, somebody should check... etc... etc... (please don't hurt me :???:)

My problem with this is that there are billions of pictures on the internet, and an unfortunately outrageous part of those are of underage girls. Going out in search of duplicate copies of these photos makes us no better a person than R2S - We are providing demand for the suppliers of these photos. If one of you guys wants to take the chance and go tracing the origins of those pictures, more power to you. It's easier to just take them down and cover our butts, though, and that's the stance I'm going to stick with.

  11. I'm not taking any chances. He has a post up there, two in fact, that say explicitly that they're underage. Now, I dont know what the rules are over in the UK, but for general intents and purposes, the age of consent in the US (Where most of our members post from), the legal age for posing nude for public viewing, is 18. If he says they're underage and they *LOOK* underage (WHICH THEY DO), I'm inclined to remove the pictures. Censorship was never in our vocabulary when this place started, and it still shouldn't have to be. People that join this forum know that there's all manner of tasteless content, not safe for work, not safe for children, but there's a significant difference between being just tasteless and being illegal. I may not, nor have I ever really been an active contributing member of this board, but I've still been a member for many years, and I hope to be for many more years. When I start getting complaints from the regulars that the content is beyond the comfort zone of the most unscrupulous of characters here, I have to step in. And if I step in and my intervention goes ignored, then Nick has to step in and . But if that's what it's going to take care of this issue, so be it.

With that said I'd like for everyone to go back to posting their favorite LEGAL chicas and not let this one incident ruin the fun for everyone else.

  12. September 2005. They just closed. I think...

Oh yeah... When I came home from my mom's last time, I saw that it was torn down. I forgot about it completely. I noticed there was a big gaping hole where something important should have been :( Bet ya it'll become a fucking condo park, like the rest of the state.

  13. Serenity 2...straight to TV

Now, I could be wrong, but this sounds like all speculation and no sources to speak of, but it's exciting nonetheless. Straight to TV's a shame, cause Serenity was a blast on the big screen, but I would watch it if they did it on Podcast only, and I'd go out and buy the new iPod to watch it with.

Well if they're gonna go that far, they might as well just buy up Firefly and restart the series!

  14. :2T: i was already sold....12/20 it is.  $50 for this + Firefly from Amazon, sounds like a good deal!

I was just saying to DJ that there should be a whole Serenity/FF package on Amazon, where you get the Serenity DVD and soundtrack, the Firefly DVD set and soundtrack (available tuesday 11/8 - woo!), the RPG, the comic series, and the companion books, for like... 150 bucks.

  15. Truth be told, I didn't know about the Tam Sessions until after I'd seen Serenity. I know, I know, my rabid fanatacism is faltering. It was interesting to watch the sessions in chronological order and see the gradual decline of River's sanity. It's painful to see this bright, vibrant, intelligent girl become the broken, damaged, echo of a human being that we meet in the series/movie. This was pretty extensive for a "viral campaign" but it did exactly what it intended, in that it got people talking and whet the appetites of those that caught it.

  16. "Give In" - Peter Gresser

    Pete's Website

    For too long

    We've held on to these

    Archaic notions of what

    Used to be

    We've grown stale

    And in our ignorance

    We're unaware of

    Our own stagnancy

    The time has come

    For mankind to be replaced

    The time has come

    For mankind to be erased

    For too long

    Man has paved the world

    And destroying forests

    Burning seas away

    On their hands

There lies the blood of the young

    Their souls contend with

    All that they betray

    There's nothing left

    For mankind to defend

    The time has come

For mankind to meet it's end

So why don't we just give in?

So why don't we just give in?

    Give in, give in

    The time has come

    For no man to remain

    The time has come

    To mend mankind's domain

So why don't we just give in?

So why don't we just give in?

    Give in, Give in

    Give in, Give in

    Give in, Give in

Give in, Give in, why don't we just give in?

    Give in, Give in

    Give in, Give in

    Give in, Give in

    Give in, Give in...
