Visitant
I saw a tweet this week that was something along the lines of: "Dudes over 30 be like, yeah i'm busy tonight drinking whiskey and watching youtube". And you know what? Fair. So I did about .5 seconds of searching the board and based on google rules (if it's not on page 1, it does not exist) and decided to open a thread about what channels we actually subscribe to on youtube. I watch a lot of long form video essays so there's a lot of those and I'm always looking for recommendations on new stuff to watch. So here we go. https://www.youtube.com/c/TaleFoundryShow - Tale foundry. Actually came across this one last night. Fully animated, the main robot character talks about literature you might not know of (his clive barker book one is the video that got me hooked and I immediately got the audiobook after the video) and discussions about the craft of writing. His dune vid is pretty dang good too. https://www.youtube.com/c/LadyEmilyPresents - Lady Emily - She does not have a ton of vids up but they have all been worth my time. She goes into older parts of internet history like Channel Awesome and AVGN. Its a good watch for internet olds like us. https://www.youtube.com/user/broadcaststsatic - Noah Caldwell-Gervais - You like video games? Would you like a 5 hour essay on Gears of War that's actually good? Noah is your man. Works well for both deep diving into a subject while you're awake, or something comforting to listen to as you go to sleep. https://www.youtube.com/c/JacobGeller - Jacob Geller - Hard to quantify what Jacobs videos are about. Yes they are about games most of the time, but they are also about the human experience. Watch his video on why "Horror Games Sound Beautiful". https://www.youtube.com/c/ChillFuel - Chill Fuel - Ok this channel isn't for everyone. This is a recent addition to my list that goes into some of the weirder parts of the internet, like the messed up things people have found while geocaching. https://www.youtube.com/c/SummoningSalt - Summoning Salt: History of speedruns. More entertaining than it sounds. https://www.youtube.com/c/RyanHollinger - Ryan Hollinger: Horror reviews. A lot of fun. I often have him on in the background while I cook. https://www.youtube.com/c/thorhighheels - Thor High Heels - He mostly showcases weird ass games you probably never played. Def worth checking out. https://www.youtube.com/c/Ladyknightthebrave - Lady Knight The Brave - long form essays. All of them fantastic and go down some deep rabbit holes. Her episode on MASH was surprisingly full of heart. Talks a lot about the gay/jewish experience. https://www.youtube.com/c/RagnarRoxShow - Ragnarox: Horror games. His "games from underground" series is one of my favorite things, where he just deep dives into itch.io and finds shit you'd never think to try. https://www.youtube.com/c/Nam12399 - Nams Compendium: Put here because I know you fuckers like PERSONA shit. Ok I have a ton more but I'll stop here for now, mostly because I need to go lead my morning team meeting. Looking forward to your recommendations. 1
Visitant
I don't know if this is a channel recommendation so much as a video recommendation. I caught this almost by accident last night scrolling through youtube. Warning, it can be a little sad, but has a very hopeful ending. I don't know why but this video hit me in just the right place at the right time. I think it's worth giving a watch.
