MyLeakyBucket
Went to see this tonight as its been rerelased in my local indie cinema with improved picture quality blah blah...after being restored for four whole years. For those who have had there head up their arses and thus haven't heard of it, Metropolis was originally released in 1926 and is one of the most famous silent films of all time. Fritz Lang's (director) science fiction epic is about life and revolution in a futuristic city. The verdict. I am in no doubt that in the era it was an amazingly impressive film with very sdvanced visual effects. Therefore I think it is generally meant to be a serious film. HoweverI laughed my ass off during the film, a much more enjoyable film if thought of as a comedy. The whole thing is like one big acid trip. Definitely see it if silent cinema is your bag baby, otherwise tread cautiously...
