BigChiefSlapaho Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 The Magdalene Sisters I'm interested in seeing this one. It's an interesting story about a Catholic school in Ireland for girls which turned out to be more like a prison. The girls were sent to this school for a variety of reasons: too beautiful, too flirty, having children out of wedlock, and had their lives stripped from them and were brought to their knees by the nuns who ran the school. I read an article in the paper about this movie. Some of the ladies were invited to see it to comment on how accurate the film was according to their lives. IIRC, one said "It was a great movie, but the reality was much worse." Of course the Catholic Church took a dump on the film. Wrote a bunch of letters saying how awful an impression this film gives of the Church and that the movie was not to be considered a work of art in any form.

That's right, most people think art is about expression of thoughts or feelings, but it's not. Art is only art if it's a creative way of glorifying the divinity and infalibility of the church.
