Mr. Hakujin Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 From Variety.com... Comedian, actor, writer and producer Garry Shandling, known for “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” and “The Larry Sanders Show,” died Thursday, March 24, 2016, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed. He was 66. A spokesman for the LAPD said they received a 911 call from Shandling’s home on Thursday, saying the comedian suffered from a “medical emergency.” He later died at an L.A. hospital. Gary Shandling didn't get much attention from Hondonians, (HondoSearch3000 brought back zero results when I searched "shandling") but he was a funny and well respected comedian. His HBO show Larry Sanders is one of those shows you always hear mentioned as innovative and influential by other comedians and actors--it kickstarted Judd Apatow's career among others. Jimmy Fallon showed a clip of his first appearance on the Tonight Show, said a few words, and, of course, took the opportunity to sing. There are a few clips up on the Tonight Show website as well. * Conan recounted a personal story about Gary... * Bill Maher said a few words on his show as well... * And his friend, actor/comedian Kevin Nealon wrote a nice piece on him as well. * Shandling with Kathy Griffin & Bob Odenkirk a few days before he died. Mr. Hakujin Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Yes! I forgot to mention his geekiest role ever as the evil Senator Stern. Quote
