  1. McGregor Too Young for 'Trainspotting II'

Fans of cult movie Trainspotting will have to wait another decade for director Danny Boyle's follow-up - because the original cast aren't old enough yet. Despite Moulin Rouge star Ewan McGregor's reported reluctance to reprise his role in a sequel to the 1995 junkie movie that launched his career - Boyle is convinced he can assemble the original cast, which also includes Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle. But Boyle wants his leads to be "middle-aged casualties of the pleasure culture" and they are still too young - the movie-maker tells the New York Post. So he will wait until McGregor, Miller, Carlyle and castmate Ewan Bremner are suitably scarred by "the ravages of time". He complains, "Actors like to put out the PR that they're living a wild life in night clubs, but really they're tucked up in bed early with their moisturizer on," Boyle said.

I assume he's talking about adapting the book, Porno by Irvine Welsh. Really recommend that book, I liked it even more than Trainspotting. The story is great, can't wait to see what Danny Boyle does with it.

  2. Barley's pretty good, not Morris's best material but definitely better than most everything on TV at the moment

To be honest thats all I am expecting. Morris + sitcom = not as good as Brass Eye.

Watched Jam again the other day, won the boxset on DVD a year or so back. Its still the craziest piece of tv and radio ever made.

    Squirt your squit to death

Saw the end of that list, Hicks was 13 or so I think.

Yeah that was about right. Thats higher than he would have appeared had the public have been voting I think.

  3. DAMN!! That's even better than the first. My favourite line has to be

I have a message for Iraq, "Go home and die".

Thanks for the update KoS, would have been a while till I found i I reckon.

KoS and Jont, have you been watching Chris Morris' new show Nathan Barley? Lindsay (Goatboy's Girl) has been recording it for me so looking forward to watching it over when I get back to the UK in April. She has told me it's pretty funny.

Also, really pleased to see at Christmas when I watched the top 50 list of Comedian's favourite comedians, Morris came in at #9 I seem to remember. Was very chuffed.

Increasingly, it seems the bone around our brain is not the skull, but the pelvis. The society in which we live is dangerously fixated with sex, segregating those with ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’ AIDS while applauding pop stars who offer sex to anyone from Former Yugoslavia, so the time is clearly right for a ‘risky’ television discussion show to ram the felchspoon up the topics that no-one else dares hump. If this were really happening… what would you think?

  4. Skeeter and Super E are on form. :D

    Bukkake on your face

    Bukkake on your face

Don't waste none, the Catholic's on your case

Ghosts and balls, but no Swayze

Both those guys be driving girls crazy

Paris and Kev give videos a shot

And after she says to Costner "That's Hot"

  5. KIRKMAN'S INVINCIBLE PICKED UP BY PARAMOUNT

Invincible. The Image series has been picked up by Paramount, with Kirkman himself attached to adapt it for the screen. According to Variety, the studio is looking to turn the property into a franchise of its own.

As regular Newsarama readers know (and not so regular can find out here), the series centers on Mark Grayson, an average teenager who happens to be the son of the world’s greatest superhero, and the changes their relationship takes when Mark begins to develop his father’s powers. Since it's launch in 2003 (as part of Image's now abandonded superhero line), it's been one of the publisher's most acclaimed titles, receiving an Eisner nomination for best new series last year.

Variety reports that Lorenzo (Constantine) di Bonaventura and Circle of Confusion will produce.

The film, for di Bonaventura, will be his fourth venture into the superhero/pop culture genre, as, along with Constantine, the producer is attached to Doom and the Transformers movie.

Read the first issue of this and had a flick through the trades. Looked really good, just don't have the spare cash to check it out properly.

Do worry that mr di Bonaventura might be spreading himself a little thin though. Surely its not a great idea to be doing a bunch of films on topics of great nostalgia for so many people. Just asking for trouble if you want my opinion.

  6. Man, I can't wait for Scanner Darkly. About time they adapted another Phillip K. Dick novel. This is one of my faves, very interesting characters, lots of paranoia and confusion.

The animation looks amazing. Reminds me of that great philosophical film that was made Waking Life. Rather than grating on the eyes Jax, I found it particularly soothing and cool.

  7. Haha thats brilliant. Forgot the QED though

Also are you sure the initial equation isn't 'Girls= Money + Time'

In which case "Girls = 2*root(evil)", which is quite obviously more informative.

Oh yeah random stuff. Umm. How about a moment of sleaze.

  8. Yeah I wasn't gonna mention Empire of the Sun because he was so young in that'n. And is The Machinist out yet?

But Empire of the Sun is like Spielberg's best work and Bale is just great. Machinist has been out in the cinema, don't think it's made it to DVD yet but sure it'll be soon.

The new batmobile looks mighty strange, like something out of Robot Wars.

  9. Goatboy's Girl is currently visiting me in Boston and we are off to NY on friday (Chinatown bus, woohoo!). Going to the Sidewalk Cafe for the annual anti-folk festival on firday and saturday nights and generally being clueless tourists during the day. Can't wait. :D:D

  10. Whats witht eh four pics IC? (Apart from two of them being from some of the best tv shows ever)

Born into Brothels is great. Everyone see it. Thank you Michael Moore for not letting Fahrenheight (sic) 9-11 get nminated for best doc. Born into Brothels desrves it. Great movie.
