  1. heh, yeah we talked about it on MSN He's busy with work apparently, Basically anyone can review a beer, so review away peeps
  2. I did say the USA were quite good, not world beaters but their current fifa ranking is 31, which altogether isn't too bad. And they got to the quarter finals in 2002, not a bad showing. Still i think where soccer's strength in the us is that more and more kids are playing it, maybe parents don't want their kids playing full contact like american football/hockey, and see soccer as a safer option. Brazil may be a fading star as far as recent form suggests, but they are more than ronaldo, yes he has been crap and over weight since his surgery, but he could be transferred soon which will hopefully mean he'll come back again. But Brazil have some excellent players, not just Ronaldinho, how bout Kaka, Robinho, Baptista, Adriano, Dida. Argentina, favourites for WC 2006 choked, big time, yes they are a great team, but i was expecting a lot more from them, they have some excellent players also. Italy, their defense won them the world cup, not their attacking, Cannavoro, what a defender. Top 5 @ end of 2006 are (according to FIFA) Brazil Italy Argentina France England wtf! Then you've Germany, Holland and Portugal in the top ten as well, so Europe is well represented there. But yeah, everyone loves an underdog, the more the spot light is put on MLS, as a result of the Beckham deal, i think it can only be good for the American game, yeah we know its not gonna topple the usuals off the pecking order, but if it gets more popular, it means they'll have better players playing in america, not going off to Europe to ply their trade
  3. heh. 4000 posts, this is 4001 Never thought i'd get this far!
  4. Gotta admit, i've not heard much audioslave, i always meant to get their first album just never got round to it either. RATM, i only own one album and thats Renegades, an album of covers which is amazing, i've previously pimpd tracks from that such as the covers of Street Fighting Man (Rolling Stones), Maggies Farm (Bob Dylan) and Ghost of Tom Joad (Bruce Springsteen) and thats a good album, but i love the RATM fist thumping anthems, its one of my regrets that i've not seen them live, seems that may change now, esp if they come to Ireland. Not mad on Pixies either, but again, they do have some good songs.
  5. Way i see it, the USA national team are quite good, thing is a lot of your best players play in Europe. Anyway, its growing in popularity from what i read, slowly but surely, players like Beckham going across can only help increase its profile.
  6. sounds like a great lineup, but CA is a bit far even for me to go to a festival! Hopefully it'l be a pixies style cash in with a world tour to boot, doing the euro festival circuit.
  7. my how things go off on tangents in this place, we started talking bout organic foods, then it gets to menstruation, Anyway, Organic = Good, though i don't know about being nailed with higher prices. I'd try get organic meat where possible, cos its more noticeable with taste
  8. Ok, so here goes, we're gonna review a beer a week, and seeing as our resident booze hound DoJ is mia or doing an MM, i'll get the ball rolling. Its important to remember that this is about appreciation versus beer carnage So i'm gonna open up with a brew that is widely available (well in europe anyway) Leffe Blond - Belgian Trappist Leffe Blond, i first had this a few years ago at my mate Liam's house, his father poured me this mad cloudy beer, and in typical yorkshire brogue said, "get that into you lad!" From that moment i was hooked... i love this stuff, and always have some in the house. So lets start with the history of this fine beer. Firstly, its a trappist beer, which means its made by Monks. Monks make good beer. They really do. Interestingly enough its now brewed in the same place as Stella Artois is brewed. So how do i rate this, its lovely, serve chilled in a proper Leffe glass, and its very hard to find many beers better than this one. I dunno if you yankee kids can get this stuff, but you should try! 4* out of 5
  9. Its stays blue if you've unread messages as far as i know. The power light goes to orange on standby, and obviously green when its on.
  10. This is indeed good news, and that looks like a helluva lineup there...
  11. Some good calls there nick my man. You could get a RGB Scart, that'd be as good as the S-Video if you've a spare slot. The composite is crap, i've to get the scart one myself,
  12. Awesome LL, but i don't mind waiting for the eps to be honest. We started with a double bill last night, its awesome already!
  13. Jax, how do you send the mii's? I've got me and nanno down to a tee, have to add more friends but i want my mii's to mingle! Welcome to the club Nick! Awesome, delighted for you man! I really am.
  14. Well it was designed for Gamecube originally to be its swansong, then they just delayed so they could simurelease on the two platforms. I'm not a fanboy, but i'm converted. The game itself on teh wii has an inbuilt learning curve to get you used to the controls, which i found a great benefit
  15. I can't wait for this sunday, Jack is back on our screens! (in Ireland anyway)
  16. Never twigged that Jax, that is an excellent point. He never "says" anything, he just listens! @MH, i think that too!!! "Hey you guuyyys!" Truly, this game has converted me to the ways of Zelda, and i will now get the Ocarina of Time when it becomes available on the VC!!! Ok, in the game, i've just learnt the 1st Secret Skill and i'm in the Forest Temple, am stuck there though...
  17. Mario Kart, in all its forms, is an excellent game! I can't wait for that personally!
  18. Welcome to Hondos! Well as a proud wii owner i've yet to buy anything from the Virtual Console, but according to wiki here's whats currently available in America. Living in Ireland this is what i can currently download in the VC here Some good games coming up in future releases.
  19. Point taken, but none of the other characters really speak apart from the occasional 'hey' Also, i wasn't the biggest Zelda fan before this game, so i can't speak from experience of playing others in the series...
  20. Ok, so as most of you guys know i got a wii recently. Some how managed to get one, when demand for this excellent console is still running very high, though it seems we're having a better time of it over here in Ireland than you guys in the states. Anyway, this is the first nintendo console i've owned since my SNES, and to be honest i know its not on the same level as the 360 or PS3, i got it for the purely social gaming aspect of it. Wii Play Wii Sports, WarioWare, Rayman, all great multiplayer, social games which with the addition of alcohol are no doubt great fun, that being said i've not gotten rayman yet. So what does this console bring to the single player games, the kinda games where when you play time means nothing because you become immeresed in the game. I've never been a huge Zelda fan (shock horror! ) but as this is one of the wii's biggest releases to date i decided to get it. I know the charge of it being a glorified Cube game is out there, but to be fair, this isn't going to be the last ever zelda game, there will be more that i am sure. So been off work sick last couple of days and at the weekend i gave this game some hours, to see how i'd get on, to be honest my first impressions were pretty low, then i stuck with it, boy am i glad i did. The whole wii control system, works beautifully, you have to swing your sword by swinging the remote etc, its really satisfying killing the beasties this way. As usual Nintendo haven't gone with photo realistic imagery, but the images are smooth (even smoother when i get my scart cable) and the backgrounds and scenes look quite good. Also as well is the soundtrack which is very appropriate. Nintendo have also taken the choice to keep the text speech rather than voice acting, no doubt due to the concerns of how the hardcore Zelda fan's would react to their character being voiced by someone they thought was shit. Now i've not completed the game (yet) and i have no idea how far i'm away from it, but i've only learnt one of the secret skills so far, and i've nearly 5 hrs game time racked up. The wolf concept is really good, and breaks up playing as Link, and to be honest the Midna character is suitably weird. So after my initial hesitancy with this game, i'm coming around to it in a big way. If you have a wii, you have to have this game, it really is that good. So in accordance with a lot of the major reviews this game is getting 9/10 from me. Now if you'll excuse me, i'm going back to play more zelda!
  21. We don't get it til Sunday Officially, so i can't wait for this to come back! Jack Bauer = Legend!
