    ohhh, i get you nemo

and yeah the differences are mostly technical or minor

LOL - yeah, I know - who gives a shit - super minor.  BUT if you're into these kinda things and appreciate arcade-accurate ports...(specially never-released-ever ports) DK 64 has a super-secret bonus.

    (left Arcade, right NES)

In the NES port - you don't get the intro animation at 'Game Start' where Donkey Kong climbs the girders w/ Pauline and then stomps 'em all into slants...difficulty is lowered..."How high can you get?" bumbers are gone...colors are different...again, who gives a shit - but personally, I prefer the Arcade version and if you're into that kinda thang: bonus if they get DK 64 in there.

...it has people clamoring for that spinoff. I’d watch Jackie. Or Jackie & Darlene. Roseanne was never the interesting part of that show.

Eh.  Kind of agree - for me, I always took the first couple of Seasons of Big Bang Theory as sum weird spin-off.  LOL - that's the fate of Darlene n' David, so I'm good.  LOL

I'd honestly rather just watch their older...early, mid-90s-versions' adventures.  I still watch the old Roseanne - if I catch it and it's not going through the older eps.  The later episodes were kinda preachy...soap box-y...I love the times when the kids were kids / younger teens and Dan was straight up Fred Flintstone...and Roseanne delt w/ being a woman / wife/ mother in a crazy world.

Sucks all that's axed now, too.  It's all too bad.

^ I really regret not seeing this moment.  LOL - ah, the fuzzies...

^ I've never seen any of these shows.  So this style is new to me.  (I don't have cable - I'm not on the pulse of these newer toons)

    But, yeah - to Baytor's point -

...I'm also adult enough to realize that stuff with this much more intentionally doofy tone (Steven Universe/Star vs. The Forces of Evil/Adventure Time) does big serious beats so sooo much better than Thundercats ever did.

Of those, I've only seen Adventure Time - and they've had sum pretty good episodes, despite - really - being aimed at 6 year olds.  BUT, it also felt aimed at parents / baby-sitters - I ended up really appreciating that show.  I can't think of any OG Thundercats episode that they couldn't re-tell in the same vein as Adventure Time and it not work.

The art style really isn't a thing for me - I actually kinda like it...reminds me of Superjail / Korgoth.  I'm a fan of the 'actually animated' stuff - LOL  I'm extremely interested in seeing this show's action sequences.

I was initially tepid giving Clone Wars n' Nick's cg TMNT a taste - because of the art style - but, they both ended up being GREAT shows.  The latter being super-kiddy, but it was able to reel it in when it had to.  Totally felt for all ages...and a celebration and honoring of the IP (all things TMNT).  Reboot done right!

I mean, w/ this - so far - at least the characters and settings are recognizable?  They didn't re-imagine Snarf as a turtle-frog-android and they didn't give Mumm-Ra a Trump toupee.  I could prolly handle an 80s He-Man reboot / re-imagining like this - IF they kept it true to source / assets pulled directly from the 80s canon.  (shrugs)  Could be fun to see classic (not re-imagined) characters in all-new adventures.

These things - like Spidey - are gonna be re-imagined up n' down from here till Tuesday.  Not every version is gonna be aimed at me - but, when one is...

    anigif_sub-buzz-1049-1499447872-5.gif

So far - my only concern is that the tone and comedy will be too infantile...and just have me walk away.

Hopefully, they anticipate the action sequences to be appreciated by animation fans in general (I'm going by that killer intro) - and there'll be an all-ages approach for what they're doing - by that, I mean - not solely aimed at JUST 6 year olds.

    She made a racist remark....

I looked into it last night - LOL - beyond racist, that was - whoa.

I had no idea Roseanne had a history of...pretty insane 'comments'.  I remember her from her 'older days' - she sooo drank the kool-aid.

Yowza - that was just unfettered...ugly.  In what realm that could ever be perceived as 'just a joke'...LOL - ah dunno.

Fascinating how intelligent / humorous / talented people can be, but - when asked about their thoughts on politics or religion...the human condition - they turn out to be total nutbars.  LOL - I've always found that fascinating.

A reason to never meet your heroes - but, as I've mentioned in your thread on 'being able to separate art from the artist' - personally, I've always (very interestingly) wrestled w/ that.

Sometimes I'm able to - sometimes, I just can't enjoy sum material anymore when shit goes down.  In this case, I think it's good they cancel and pull the show - sends a good message: 'Not cool.  These are the consequences - despite money.'  Don't see the point in 'deleting' the old shit, but - I get the gesture.

Crazy how many 'comebacks' occur, tho.  Even crazier the kinda crap celebs come back from.

  5. Whoa.  LOL - what the fuck happened?!  Never even got to see an episode.  What it even good?

While opening strong, the omnipresence of President Shithole over everything in and out of society and Roseanne Barr's twitter rampage of vile and racist conspiracy theory shit and subsequent backlash and meltdown just got the show canceled...

I'm getting that they injected politics into the show and it spilled out into social media.  Gotta be careful w/ that stuff.  Do a podcast or whatever - people tune into a certain kinda entertainment - not wanting to get preached to.  Left or Right - lotta political crap getting all up in entertainment nowadays.  Sux.

There's a razor thin margin of people that are going to really enjoy this (I am among them), everyone else will fucking hate it.

    That's too bad.

Technically it's done okay for an action film at the box office thus far, but in reality it's a bomb for a Star Wars film.

Oi.  Well...at least there's Disney's spin to look forward to.

I'll still Redbox, tho - and be back to spew my review...long after everyone who loved this film has forgotten it.

  7. That 3DS exclusive 'Original Edition' (which I freakin' missed out on - totally jelly) is a port of the NES version.  They added / 'restored' the missing second stage that was in the Arcade - but missing in the NES port.

Aside from 'restoring' the NES version to the full 4 stages of the Arcade - it ain't an arcade port.  The 'Original Edition' is the NES ROM - w/ a new stage.

The only true Arcade port is in DK 64.  It had to do w/ Nintendo not really 'owning' the physical programming / coding work(?) of the original Arcade...that's why we've never seen any Arcade ports of their most famous / important video game.

The DK 64 programmers stuck the original Donkey Kong Arcade game in their game, w/out Nintendo knowing.  Surprisingly, they kept it in - even in the VC release.

So using the math for the NES To SNES we're probably gonna get 10 games, 15 at most for N64 classic.  What are your hopes?

I doubt any non-licensed Rare games will appear and Goldeneye might be a rights issue.  I don't want Mario Party or Donkey Kong 64 but they'll likely be there.

    1. Super Mario 64

    2. Ocarina of Time

    3. Majora's Mask

    4. Diddy Kong Racing

    5. Super Smash Bros.

    6. Mario Kart 64

    7. Paper Mario

    8. Extreme G

    9. Kirby 64

    10. Star Fox 64

I'd be comfortable shelling out $100 for that.

That's prolly gonna be exactly what the dilly is

I've done bought all these already - on Wii n' Wii U...'cept Extreme G, Kirby 64 and Diddy Kong Racing.

BUT like the NES VC, it's all looks dim and muddy.  I throw down a hundo for a sharp, colorful 1080p version of these games...along w/ a lil mini N64 w/ functioning controller?  I can get jiggy w/ that.

Smash 64 alone, I think - will get Nintendo / nostalgia-junkies scrambling for a mini.

Fun Fact: DK 64 has the only 100% legit true-Arcade port of 'Donkey Kong' ever released - it's even in the VC port.  If it's get onto the mini, too - super-bonus.

    maxresdefault.jpg

Guilty favs I'd want?  Castlevania 64 / Legacy of Darkness, Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squardon, WCW / NWO Revenge...

  9. I heard an N64 Mini is very much on it's way.  I read a blurb 'bout Nintendo filing a patent or a copyright-thingie yesterday...or the day before.  N64 Mini is totally happening.

  10. Raspberry Pi...3?  I guess I fell into the category of 'gotta twerk dem settings'.  I'm afraid to mess w/ whatever in the hell makes the thing think.  The recommendations online re: things to play w/ in the 'code' or 'OS settings' that could be causing the 'overthinking' are overwhelming and scary.  "Hey! (shrugs) 'try this!' (not responsible if it bricks)".  I've had extended play sessions since fan-installation - I'm good.

But knowing now, my situation isn't 'standard' - and there's a 'switch' somewhere I could maybe toggle...

    Ace+Ventura+3.gif

...gonna look into that sum more...

Yeah - I'm tempted as hell to set up all them video previews n' games details for all my games.  I don't have 'entire' console libraries in there - my Retropie just has the games that interest me and that I actually play.

I got 'entire' libraries archived, but - yes - 'scrapping' and customizing that look for all the individual games does hog up memory - quickly.  I'm interested in doing that one day, tho - but, I'd need a guide.  Like, literally - a human being to sit w/ me...but first, ideally - to check out my Raspberry rig.

During my theater gig - I got in good w/ our sound guy.  He does horror and gaming events - and on the side, he fixes / restores arcade cabinets.  We've talked collecting and emulators - gonna meet up w/ him next month at a retro gaming event over here.  He's got bits n' bops he takes on tour.

Dude collects and travels the country displaying rare games at events - also, a pinball fanatic.  Lotta...interesting people I met during that whole experience.  I'll take n' post pics fer sher - but, I intend now on seeing if he can give my Raspberry Pi a once over.  We'll see.
