This might weird out the OG Drunken Deities, but the Bible, healthily informed by the sciences. Let's call it evolutionary theology.

  1. Ooh, I like the new interface... Anyway, what's this I hear on the radio today, Amy Lee's angelic voice belting something new?!?!?! I can't stop thinking about it, but I have no idea what it is!!! Who knows what it's called?
  2. Well, doesn't that just knock me on my ass. Prime example of the kind of departure Begins is from previous Dark Knight ventures. Oh, by the way, my Terrible Two and I were in the library the other day, and, in his runnings around trying to stay away from me and make as much noise as childly possible, he grabbed The Dark Knight Returns and refused to let it go. He runs to the counter (seeing the computers on the counter, he thinks this is some kind of store, but he's got the right idea), plops it up there, and says, "Check out? Check out, Mama!" Damned if the kid didn't hold it all the way home, climb into the recliner when we got there, and sit there, turning the pages, and shouting, "Mama! Batman! Batman!" at every page. Was very careful with it, too...he seems to know to respect books. Tha's my boy! ...this, however, from the kid who ripped the pages of his (beloved Spiderman) coloring book to shreds... It's so cute to hear a toddler try to say "Ombre AraƱa." (giggle) But I digress. Back to Batman, before .
  3. No kiddin', that's who I thought it was when I first saw that pic. Also a favorite of mine, so it got my hopes all up and stuff...
  4. All excellent points on Constantine. Yeah--Rachel Weisz--DEFINITELY one o' my go-gay girls... As for Batman Begins: Movie Homepage Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Katie Holmes--fantastic. Rutger Hauer--YIPPEEEEEEE!!! Liam Neeson... ...Christian Bale... This is gonna be my favorite Christian Bale flick since Little Women. (giggle) But, really, A Midsummer Night's Dream was enchanting, and I still haven't seen Reign of Fire... :shoot: :shoot: :shoot: :D I know, but--but--IT'S ON MY LIST!!!
  5. OOH!!! (squeals with delight) I get to be the first to worship Constantine Hondo's-style! Not much time for now, though... WARNING--MILD TO MODERATE SPOILERS Saw it late last night...fan-fuckin'-tastic movie, more on that later, but even after two-and-a-half hours of revelry, I still can't see Reeves as Hellblazer. I keep wanting to see someone more rugged, maybe with the square-chinned, rugged look of Bruce Campbell (but not Campbell himself, 'cause he's too easily identified with Evil Dead-style black comedy. And oh, my Goddess, the scene where he's headed for Heaven... LMFAO along with the whole theater!!! Gavin Rossdale gave a stupendous performance, I thought, and their choice of Tilda Swinton for Gabriel was superb--very aristocratic. Loved the fact that "his" wings were black...good foreshadowing. I promise I'm gonna get some time to delve a little more deeply into this and Phantom, maybe Monday...
  6. Damn, people, don't you know a Jewel single when you see it?! Oh, well, never mind that it didn't get much airplay and more than likely no one but me knows the words...
  7. Oooh...bittersweet song and oh-so-true... This one's got special meaning...my last name is Welsh for, of all things, "like a bird," so, along with the Nelly Furtado song of that name, this one gets me all wistful and pensive-like... There's a little bird somebody sent Down to the earth to live on the wind Blowing on the wind And she sleeps on the wind This little bird somebody sent Light and fragile and feathered sky blue Thin and graceful The sun shinin' through She flies so high up in the sky Way out of reach of human eyes Light and fragile and feathered sky blue Thin and graceful The sun shinin' through She flies so high up in the sky Way out of reach of human eyes Light and fragile, she's feathered sky blue Thin and graceful The sun shinin' through And the only time that she touches ground Is when that little bird, little bird Is when that little bird, little bird Is when that little bird Dies
  8. Aww, shucks. I can't believe no one even cheated on that one! lol So I Fall Again --Phantom Planet, way back in the day Sun sets 'cross the ocean Thousand miles from anywhere My pocketbook and my heart both just got stolen And that sun act like she don't even care Wind blows cold and you reach the top Feels like someone's face is stuck to the bottom of my shoe I got a plastic Jesus, a cordless telephone for every corner of my room Got everybody but you tellin' me what to do ... There's everybody but me to answer my prayers 'Til I saw an angel in a bathroom She said she saw no one worth saving anywhere Blind man on the corner said "It's simple "Like flippin' a coin: "Don't matter what side it lands on if it's someone else's dime" ... I take a trip I catch a train I catch a plane I got a ticket in my hand And a fat man takes my money And like cattle we all stand...
  9. I can't say if this feeling coming over me is real But I know it's something you can't steal So I'll buy another problem to approach Sell a virgin lie that can't be touched So I fall again So I fall again So I'll break through this rotten piece of wood again I can't say if this unfriendly* subject should be dropped But I know it's something you can't stop So I'll buy another pickup line and sigh And pretend that everything is all right So I fall again So I fall again So I'll break through this rotten piece of wood again So I'll break through this rotten piece of wood So I'll break through this rotten piece of wood So I'll break through this rotten piece of wood again So I fall again So I fall again So I'll break through this rotten piece of wood again *orig. here fucking I like the alternate version better; unfriendly just seems to flow better.
  10. Oh, wow, Steve McQueen, Sheryl Crow. That's such a fun song! Okay, I know that reads pretty corny (cornily? lol), but I swear it only sounded cute when I said it out loud... I can't say if this feeling coming over me is real But I know it's something you can't steal So I'll buy another problem to approach Sell a virgin lie that can't be touched ... I can't say if this unfriendly* subject should be dropped But I know it's something you can't stop So I'll buy another pickup line and sigh And pretend that everything is all right ... *orig. here fucking
  11. I would like to visit you for a while Get away and out of this city Maybe I shouldn't have called, but someone had to be the first to break We could go sit on your back porch, relax, talk about anything It don't matter I'll be courageous if you can pretend that you've forgiven me 'Cause I don't know you anymore I don't recognize this place The picture frames have changed, and so has your name We don't talk much anymore We keep running from the pain But what I wouldn't give to see your face again Springtime in the city Always such relief from the winter freeze The snow was more lonely than cold if you know what I mean Everyone's got an agenda, don't stop Keep that chin up, you'll be all right Can you believe what a year it's been Are you still the same? Has your opinion changed? 'Cause I don't know you anymore I don't recognize this place The picture frames have changed, and so has your name We don't talk much anymore We keep running from these sentences But what I wouldn't give to see your face again I know I let you down again and again I know I never really treated you right I've paid the price I'm still paying for it every day So maybe I shouldn't have called Was it too soon to tell Oh, what the hell It doesn't really matter How do you redefine something that never really had a name? Has your opinion changed? 'Cause I don't know you anymore I don't recognize this place The picture frames have changed, and so has your name We don't talk much anymore We keep running from the pain But what I wouldn't give to see your face again I see your face I see your face
  12. "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" --Elton John I would like to visit you for a while Get away and out of this city Maybe I shouldn't have called, but someone had to be the first to break We could go sit on your back porch, relax, talk about anything It don't matter I'll be courageous if you can pretend that you've forgiven me ...
