Not a prob. I'm stoked Cosmic Marvel was always one of my favorite sections of the Marvel universe.
Shit like M-Day, Civil War, etc. always seemed like peanuts compared to the grand spectrum of things.
So for current Cosmic Marvel events: Realm of Kings
I'm probably missing some stuff so here is a quick recap. The events of War of Kings, Black Bolt vs. Vulcan left a MASSIVE tear in the universe with the help of a bomb made by Maximus and a full on Scream form BB. (both died for BB and for Vulcan. Adam X is the TRUE 3rd Summers)
Darkhawk received a power boost is now a cosmic hero (so to speak) and is fighting the Raptor Fraternity while on the run for the assassination of Lilandra (O_O) even though it was actually his armor under the control of one of the Raptors. Currently he is with Nova and a slowly reforming Nova Corps.
Gladiator is now ruler of the Shi'ar and Medusa (along with the Inhuman royal family) is ruler of the Kree. (Crystal married (again) to Ronan the Accuser).
Blastarr is now in possession of Anniulus' Cosmic control rod and is now ruler of the Negetive Zone and trashed the prison created during Civil War. Jack Flag was rescued and his spine mended by the Guardians of the Galaxy (now a member).
Adam Warlock was killed by Martyr(Phyla-Vell) as part of a deal she made with Oblivion. Adam then became The Magus (who's playing a large roll in these events so you know it's serious) and killed over half the of Guardians of the Galaxy.
Silver Surfer is Galactus' Herald again along with Stardust.
Quasar (once again Wendel Vahn) went through the tear where he found the universe where quote: Life won. Death Lost. unquote. As a result was resurrected.
(and looks quite awesome)
Currently the Inhumans, Shi'ar Imperial Guard are fighting new H.P. Lovecraft-style-doppelganger versions of the X-Men and Avengers.
Meanwhile Nova, Darkhawk, and past versions of Mr. Craptastic, Namorta & Black Bolt are battling age old cosmic baddie, Sphinx.
EDIT: Added some more info I just remembered. :P

Both actually. After Mar-Vell died his lover on Titan (I forget her name) used some of his DNA and combined it with hers, but in order to make sure he would be prepared against Mar-Vell's enemies he was aged to about 18 (so from baby to teenager in about a day/week) with his brain uploaded with the necessary knowledge. Result: Genis-Vell.
He was later (by accident) merged with Jones the same way as Mar-Vell. Later on though instead of going to the Negative Zone he would go to the Micro-verse.

Genis-Vell (Photon/Captain Marvel/Legacy) was one of my favorite supes back in the day. His original 35 issue run as Captain Marvel was a fun cosmic joyride. Thanos, The Magus, Blastarr & Burstarr, Ronan the Accuser, Psycho Man, etc. Then came his reboot vol. 2 series (25 issue) and everything went to hell.
They tried to turn him into an asshole, but ended up being an anti-hero with his whole Crazy like a Fox story arc that went on WAY to long. They basically did everything they could conceivably do to make him unlikeable and periodically a nugget of good/dark writing would slip through and people liked him again even though he was a douche. Finally they created Phyla-Vell big galactic bruha ensues and Genis goes back to normal (though greatly powered up).
Then they did Odyssey his last story arc which was hit or miss depending whether or not you even care at this point. (I liked it to an extent personally) Then ZANG! cop'out ending complete and utter waste. Then he pops up in New Thunderbolts and gets "killed" by Atlas (which is hard to believe no matter how you slice it) and then he resurrects, joins the TBs and starts calling himself Photon. Zemo comes back with the moonstones and in Thunderbolts 100 along with Smuggler in what could only be the most anti-climactic battles, Genis is killed, cut into pieces and scattered across the Dark Dimension (so he can't reform you see ) and so ends Genis-Vell. What a waste.
Highlight of his time with the Thunderbolts was when they fought the New Avengers and Genis pwns Sentry. SO satisfying.
EDIT: Added a pic of Genis.

Trouble with Dreams by The Eels
There's nothing that i wanna do
More than get alone and be with you
Trouble with dreams is they don't come true
And when they do they can't catch up to you
You don't need a thing from me
But i need something big from you
'cause you know i've got
An awful lot of big dreams
I'm walking down a lonely road
Clear to me now but i was never told
Trouble with dreams is you never know
When to hold on and when to let go
If you let me down it's alright
At least that leaves something for me
'cause you know i've got
An awful lot of big dreams
This is the life that i must lead now
Crossing fingers and wiping brow
Trouble with dreams is you can't pretend
Something with no beginning has an end
You don't need a thing from me
But i need something big from you
'cause you know i've got an awful lot of big dreams

To Tame A Land by Iron Maiden (a tribute to Dune)
He is the king of all the land
In the Kingdom of the sands
Of a time tomorrow.
He rules the sandworms and the Fremen
In a land amongst the stars
Of an age tomorrow.
He is destined to be a King
He rules over everything
On the land called planet Dune.
Bodywater is your life
And without it you would die
On the desert the planet Dune.
Without a stillsuit you would fry
On the sands so hot and dry
In a world called Arrakis.
It is a land that's rich in spice
The sandriders and the "mice"
That they call the "Muad'Dib".
He is the Kwizatz Haderach.
He is born of Caladan
And will take the Gom Jabbar.
He has the power to foresee
Or to look into the past
He is the ruler of the stars
The time will come for him
to lay claim his crown,
And then the foe yes
they'll be cut down,
You'll see he'll be the
best that there's been,
Messiah supreme
true leader of men,
And when the time
for judgment's at hand
Don't fret he's strong
and he'll make a stand,
Against evil and fire
That spreads through the land,
He has the power
to make it all end.

Well it got me into them so quite the contrary. As NZA stated though, Demon days is just one of those albums you plug in and just let it run. So much veraiety and good rythem with a epic two part finish with Don't Get Lost in Heaven & Demon Days.
-
Sorry for the double post but
made me LMFAO. -
Demon Days is indeed one of the better albums. If you're new to Gorillaz folks, that's the place to start then I'd recommend G-Sides, D-Sides (for Happy Landfill and Rock it).
Happy Landfill was top of my playlists for years (still in them just not at the top) and at the time is was fun to flaunt that it was only available via download from goriilaz.com when you bought the collectors edition of Demon Days. Rock It was also an exclusive on the sites theater page. (just a lowly flash vid) Now both are available for the masses.
Every Planet We Reach is Dead, that was the one I couldn't remember! Well here's another fav...
EDIT: The official site also had some hilarious shorts.
These videos get on here purely for the Murdoc.
-
I just searched, and there's no Gorillaz thread here, somehow. Genroh....i think you're the only man on at this deviant hour that can do this. id be all up ons.
So it is written, so it shall be done.
I for one love'em for their blend of punk, rap, R&B, and Funk. I'm sure some hate them just for the fact they're animated and there for fake.
Then again... that can be said about almost any band now adays
So here be the Gorillaz forum! Discuss, share, or just listen.
Here are some of my personal favorites.

^Nice! Love me some Gorillaz.
Happy Landfill by Gorillaz
The feeling in
head to the brain
It means you got it coming and you in the chain
So follow their lives
Is a typical vice
But if it gets you well, well you imunise, no
No!
So follow the lives
To the typical vice
You won't be even seeing if you in ye lives
Then bought all the shit
That should never be sold
They put a gun above it and a narrow behold
We are the happy landfill
We are the happy landfill
All right!

Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn
Well it's floodin' down in Texas....All of the telephone lines are down
Well it's floodin' down in Texas....All of the telephone lines are down
And I've been tryin' to call my baby....Lord and I can't get a single sound
Well dark clouds are rollin' in....Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin' in....Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin'....Man it's about to drive poor me insane
Well I'm leavin' you baby....Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well I'm leavin' you baby....Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well back home ain't no floods and tornados....Baby the sun shines on me every day
Wicked guitar licks.

Janis Joplin sings the
Ah, I'm a mean, mean woman
And I don't mean no one man, no good, no.
I'm a mean, mean woman,
I don't mean no one man, no good.
I just treats 'em like I wants to
I never treats 'em, honey like I should.
Oh, Lord, I once had a daddy,
He said he'd give me everything in sight.
Once had a daddy,
Said he'd give me everything in sight.
Yes, he did
So I said, "Honey, I want the sunshine,
You take the stars out of the night.
Come on and give 'em to me, babe, 'cause I want 'em right now."
I ain't the kind of woman
Who'd make your life a bed of ease, ha ha ha ha!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I'm not the kind of woman, no,
To make your life a bed of ease.
Yeah, but if you, if you just wanna go out drinkin', honey,
Won't you invite me along please.
Oh, I'll be so good to ya babe, yeah!
Whoa, go on!
I guess I'm just like a turtle
That's hidin' underneath it's horny shell.
Whoa, whoa, oh yeah, like a turtle
Hidin' underneath it's horny shell.
But you know I'm very well protected -
I know this goddamn life too well.
Oh! Now call me mean, you can call me evil, yeah, yeah,
I've been called much of some things around,
Honey, don't ya know I have!
Whoa, call me mean or call me evil
I've been called much of some things, all things around,
Yeah, but I'm gonna take good care of Janis, yeah,
Honey, ain't no one gonna dog me down.
Alright, yeah.

Wagner made a new Hunter Rose story called "Behold the Devil" in '08. Very good and well worth the read. He's also mentioned working on a new Grendel Prime story.
As for recommended reading:
Hunter Rose
Devil by the Deed (a collection of all of the Grendel shorts from Wagners Mage! comic and gives a sum up of the Hunter Rose story)
Black, White & Red (Collection of stories and redone chapters by various artists)
Red, White & Black (sequel to the above featuring Hunter's epic death scene)
Batman vs. Grendel (Hunter challenges Bruce to a battle of wits and skill with lives on the line and a rising body count)
Devil Child (the aftermath of Hunter's poor ward: Stacy Palumbo)
Behold the Devil (new)
Christine Spar
Devil's Legacy (excellent read)
Brian Li Sung
The Devil Inside (the art isn't anything to write home about though I for one like it, but the writing is tops)
Eppy Thatcher
God and the Devil (arguably the coolest Grendel story since Devil's Legacy and my personal favorite incarnation of Grendel)
Orion I
Devil's Regin (direct sequel to GatD. 2 stories going on here. One is a biography style of Orion's rise to power as the first Grendel Kahn and the other about Pellon Cross and the expansion of the vampires and their war with humanity)
^this one is slow compared to the rest but essential as it sets the stage for...
Grendel Prime
War Child (Part 3 in a sense. The Paladin known as Grendel Prime protects Orion's son and battles through the apocalyptic world created by Grendel)
Past Prime (a novel (not graphic novel) focusing on Susan Veraghen from War Child and her life and events with Prime)
Devil's Quest (set 104 years after War Child & Past Prime and explains Prime's time travel in the second Batman Grendel cross over and offers more glimpses into the future that Grendel has created)
Batman Grendel 2 (Hunter was a challenge, but Prime is death incarnate and the Bat is in the way of his "quest")
Grendel Tales
Various stories about other would be carriers of the mantle of Grendel.

In The Black by Motörhead
Listen honey,
Let me see you smile,
Don't be look at me funny,
You got a better style,
See me coming,
Don't look the other way,
Don't start running,
You stole my heart away,
Don't give me that run around,
You know I treat you fine,
You don't understand the way I feel,
You got my heart rolling like a wheel,
I'm In The Black, I'm In The Black, I'm In The Black again,
Can't go back, can't go back, can't be who I was back then,
It's only me, it's only me, it's only me outside your door,
Let me be, let me be, I'm the one your waiting for,
Here me talking,
You hear what I say,
I see you walking,
Every time it makes my day,
I got a notion,
I might stay a while,
If you fall in the ocean,
I'll swim a hundred miles,
Coming over to ask you out,
Ah honey please say yes,
I don't like it when you stomp and pout,
I dont' like it when you run your mouth,
I'm In The Black, I'm In The Black, I'm In The Black again,
Can't go back, can't go back, can't be who I was back then,
It's only me, it's only me, it's only me outside your door,
Let me be, let me be, I'm the one your waiting for,
Your a vision,
Make me shout out loud,
I made my decision,
Goodbye to the old ground,
Send you a message,
I've gotta chance my arm,
Scramble through the wreckage,
To keep you safe from harm,
I'm going to be right around your house,
I hope you're good to go,
If you're not it's going to hit me hard,
I'm going to fold up like a house of cards,
I'm In The Black, I'm In The Black, I'm In The Black again,
Can't go back, can't go back, can't be who I was back then,
It's only me, it's only me, it's only me outside your door,
Let me be, let me be, I'm the one your waiting for

The War is Over by Trust Company
The hours devour me
My life's wasted waiting here for you
There's nothing left of me
Lost in a void I don't see
There's nothing left to believe
The end is now
I surrender
The war is over
The rain is falling
And all that's left has blown away
Your eyes are haunted
By what you wanted
I surrender (I surrender)
The war is over
The anger I keep for you
The bitter lessons I will keep for me
There's nothing I can do
To save you from your own hell
There's nothing left for you
The end is now
I surrender
The war is over
The rain is falling
And all that's left has blown away
Your eyes are haunted
By what you wanted
I surrender (I surrender)
The war is over (It's over now)
I can see it, I can see what you've become
I can feel it, as everything goes numb
The war is over
The rain is falling
And all that's left has blown away
Your eyes are haunted
By what you wanted
I surrender (I surrender)
The war is over

I stand by that claim goddammit.
Vulcan's a cunt anyway, especially for killing off Black Bolt and it's bullshit he could even fight after having his skin ripped off from a point blank spoken word from BB. (the final battle had a LOT of WTF moments, but that was the biggest)
Yeah I damn well stand by that claim. Adam X sucks, but I'd rather have him than that cunt.
The new & improved Quasar.
