Am I just remembering the movie wrong? I thought that he flew in at the last minute acting all abduction crazy in the theatrical version.

Yes but he was on a fighter jet in the theatrical version, not on his little red cropduster like in the original cut version.

Yeah, he's acting all drunk and alien abduction crazy so they deny him the right to fly in the resistance and he disappears on his kids who go looking for him in the main control room, then when the president says he's out of nukes out of nowhere he comes in his crop duster with a nuke attached to it and the rest of the film is the same except with the red crop duster in it. This is all in the end scene near Las Vegas, there's a whole deleted scene showing it.

Have you heard about the original version of Randy Quaid's finale where he flies his cropduster with a nuke attached into the big ship over New York. Part of me wishes they would have kept that.

I have the super special edition DVD where you can watch the entire uncut film with that ending instead of the new one.

It's really something.
