Dwarf Fortress is my favourite game so this is pretty much my thread. I hope you guys will give it a try. It's freeware.

 

DF is a rogue-like city-building game. You focus on building your fort from the dangers surrounding your team. We're talking construction, management, and exploration.

 

Now, the newest version of the game came out on the 11th of July and can be found here. It's a very detailed game and there is so much you can do. I spend a couple hours a day playing it. You can also get a 3D generation mod to view your fort. I find the approach to the graphics actually quite charming*
