Reverend Jax
Some of you might have noticed that I like to throw in polls to my musician appreciation threads. I've done mostly favorite albums in the past, but Jane's Addiction has basically 2 studio albums, and two live albums. For most people, it's Ritual De Lo Habitual. Nothing's Shocking is great, but Ritual is the favorite. I can't argue it either way, both albums are so incredible. So since I can't do a album poll, I'm doing a song poll, which leave many songs out. I'm putting what I think are the most popular one up though. I'll edit it if I miss someone's favorite. Jane's Addiction started getting popular on the LA scene in the late 80s. While Jane's Addiction may not seem revolutionary, keep in mind Nothing's Shocking was released at a time when bands like Whitesnake, Poison, Ratt, Skid Row and Twisted Sister were what the hard rock radio stations were playing. JA was incredibly innovative and very important to the foundation of the alternative scene that would rise in the early 90s with the release of Nirvana's Nevermind, after they were done recording any new material. JA was just as important as the Pixies, Sonic Youth, and Soundgarden IMHO. I think of JA as the Queen (the band) of the Alternative Rock movement in the late 80s and early 90s, mostly because of Perry Ferrell's flamboyancy. Anyhow, JA broke up, Perry Ferrell formed Porno For Pyros, Dave Navarro join the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As for the other guys, I don't know what happened to them. For those who've never heard of or listen to any JA, listen to Been Caught Stealin' and Jane Says first. They two big hits and two catchiest of their songs. From their, pick up any songs on Nothing's Shocking or Ritual De Lo Habitual. The songs on the poll are my favorites, but they're all good. Jane's Addiction (Self-Titled Live Album): Nothing's Shocking (First Studio Album): Ritual De Lo Habitual (Second Studio Album): Kettle Whistle (Reunion Tour Live Album):

Reverend Jax
Yes, Nothing's Shocking wins the award for most nipples on a JA album cover: 4, as opposed to the other three, which only have 2 each. Shameful. Yes IC, definitely download a few of those songs from my poll and see if JA does anything for you. Stop and Classic Girl are great. I also love Standing In The Shower...Thinking and Ted...Just Admit It. Listen to more of there stuff. If you end up loving them, downloading all there songs doens't take very long.
