  1. I assume this is US only? Share the love America!

Ye both need to start Veep though, highly, highly recommend. Definitely one of the best sitcoms I've ever seen. It was made by Armando Iannucci (the co creator of Alan Partridge) as a spiritual successor to The Thick of It, another phenomenal show.

Also in the same family  (though none of these are canonically related) is In The Loop, another masterpiece.

And now that I'm on an Iannucci kick here's a show I pushed a few times on here before, The Day Today, it also features Alan Partridge's first tv appearances.

  2. Liam has no fucking clue what a Hellblazer or Constantine are. He has purchased Wytches but not read it yet, and is intrigued by Swamp Thing (because Wes Craven did the movie) but not read my copies yet.

I wish I had an older brother with a relatively respectful comic collection just sitting waiting to be read.

  3. Just watched the first episode. I was nervously optimistic going in, but I really liked it. It was wasn't wall to wall explosions and fighting like I feared (though it has both), it seems happy to take it's time and introduce us to where Picard is now and what has happened to him and the Federation since Nemesis. That said, a lot happens in this episode, and not everything works. But overall I was really pleased that it feels like the Jean Luc Picard we love, and I'm very much looking forward to next week's episode.

  4. What was your favorite live event (concert, sporting event, play, festival, convention, etc.) you attended in 2019?

It has to be my directorial stage debut earlier this year, when I directed two one act plays. It was a nerve wracking but exhilarating experience.

    Favorite musical artist of 2019?

According to Spotify it was The Beatles. My favourite artist that I discovered in 2019 was My Morning Jacket.

What song did you hit “repeat” on the most in 2019?

Deadhead (Live at the Royal Albert Hall) by Devin Townsend.  No hyperbole, it's the greatest live vocal I've ever heard.

Favorite half-hour long TV show you binge watched in 2019?

I know it didn't strictly stick to 30 minutes, but it was usually around the 30 mark. Such an amazing show, I binged all three seasons in five days.

Favorite hour long TV show you watched week to week in 2019?

I don't really do week to week anymore, but despite it's ending it would still have to be Game of Thrones. There were still some great moments interspersed with the crap.

  5. I used to love playing indoor soccer with my brothers and a few neighbours, but I tore my achilles tendon a few years back and I still feel it twinge from time to time when I stretch. I also have a bad knee due to my obesity. I've lost three stone in the last year though, and hope to get down to a healthy weight in the next year, so I'm hopeful to ease back in to it sometime next over the next 12 months or so.

I completely agree with you though that it's so much more fun than solo jogging.

Netflix To Adapt Jeff Smith's Eisner Award-Winning Comic Book Series BONE As An Animated Series

Netflix To Adapt Jeff Smith's Eisner Award-Winning Comic Book Series BONE As An Animated Series

Despite several attempts, adaptations of Jeff Smith's Bone have failed to move forward, but now Netflix has officially announced that they are developing an animated show based on the beloved comic series.

After spending several years languishing at the Warner Bros. lot, which saw a film adaptation from Kung Fu Panda director Mark Osborne fail to get off the ground, Netflix has officially acquired the right to Jeff Smith’s acclaimed comic book series Bone.

Following this development, the streaming giant announced that they will adapt the beloved property as an animated series, which like the comic it’s based on, will follow “the iconic Bone cousins on an adventure through a vast, uncharted desert and into a mysterious valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures.”

Along with the show’s announcement, creator Jeff Smith released a statement expressing his joy over the news and praising the team developing the project.

“I’ve waited a long time for this. Netflix is the perfect home for Bone. Fans of the books know that the story develops chapter by chapter and book by book. An animated series is exactly the way to do this! The team at Netflix understands Bone and is committed to doing something special - this is good news for kids and cartoon lovers all over the world.”

Published from 1991 to 2004, Smith’s Bone series ran for a total of 55 issues and went on to earn numerous awards including ten Eisner Awards and eleven Harvey Awards.

  7. See THAT, combined with original MCU content is why I'll probably have to bite the bullet. When it's eventually available over here of course.

  8. Just let it go Drifter. Pick a thread or start a new one and get discussing shit again, it's literally the point of the forum. No one's interested in starting drama or taking things to fight club anymore, we've moved beyond that. I don't think there's a single active member here under 30, can we* start acting our age?

  9. You so do, only BTAS (plus Beyond and Supes) keeps it off the number 1 spot of best animated kids shows of the 90's for me. It's probably the only show I've revisited from my childhood that was better than I had remembered.

Off topic, and for another thread, but I just realised that Superman the Animated series is by far my favourite iteration of the character. In fact, it's the only one I can say I'm a fan of.
