Atlus announced on Wednesday that it will release the Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers role-playing game on the Nintendo 3DS system in North America next spring under the name Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers.

As Atlus notes, the first-person, dungeon-crawling RPG "tells of a city held up as a beacon of humanity's triumph of technology, but with an infernal secret. In this would-be utopia, a group of hackers takes on a centuries-old mystic society, and a battle for control over humanity's fate is about to begin."

Atlus previously offered the game in 1997 for the Sega Saturn console and in 1999 for the PlayStation. Atlus then released the game on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on August 30. However, the upcoming Spring English release will be the first version available in North America.

The 3DS version features 30 more demons, a new opening sequence animated by the studio Satelight, full voicing of dialogue, smoother animation, and quicker loading and response times.

With the bottom 3DS screen, players can use the auto-mapping feature, "engage a COMP hack to change difficulty levels on the fly, and fill out maps without walking through." It also has an bonus dungeon with the return of Raidou Kuzunoha.
