  1. I tried to look around and tac this up on a new thread, but didn't really find anything relevant, or maybe i'm  just not looking hard enough, but in any event i saw a movie the other day which was really good, had witty, off beat humor and it was a dark comedy and i liked it a lot.. i highly reccomend ""Ghost World" it ruled, one of the best movies i've seen this year, it's based on a pulp comic.. i don't know i've never seen it, but it's good, it has thora birch in it playing lead (see was in American Beauty)

    on a scale from 1-10 i give this a very enthusiastic 8..

    everyone have a nice day!

  2. i don't HATE p-roach, honestly some of their stuff was pretty good.. i just hated the way everyone in vaca bit off thier success,

arf de meur was the bass player for Hole, and later on replaced D'arcy when she left in the smashing pumpkins

  3. so it's odd that i have loyalties?

the only way i can put it is like this, yes, vacaville isn't a cosmpolitan city, and many people who inhabit vacaville are closeminded and dull, but what can i say, i've lived here all my life and it's my hometown.

and if a band that hails from my hometown makes it "big" even for a split second, and if the bassist happened to go to the high school i attend, by god, i don't know what it is but i want to support them,

that's not the SOLE reason, let's say the bassist from p-roach was up against the arf de meur.. you bet your bottom dollar i'd vote for her over him, but in this instance, hence the CALIFORNIA music awards, it's the best bands, and such out of the STATE, and the choices are limited.

  4. more cake propaganda..

i know NOBODY except lauren and i are from california on this message board.. but you can vote for the California Music Awards nonetheless!

    here is the site: http://www.musician.com/cma/

they are up for Outstanding album, outstanding single, outstanding modern rock/alternative album, Outstanding group, and Outstanding songwriter..

please vote i swear it takes 2 minutes max..

and another suggestion... vote for P-Roach for best guitarist/bassist, i'm not a big p-roach fan, but they are from little old Vacaville and the bassist DID go to Vanden.. so i'll show my support..

thanks.. and now i will stop procrastinating and go do work..

  5. the thing about vanden, is it's a small campus.. so when a fight breaks out, you just see lots and lots of people swarming to the site... it's incredible.. and i mean EVERYONE, from all the cliques, the loadies, the preps, the rockers, the punks, the rappers, ALL GET  up and swarm.. the best fight i've ever seen was at vanden, it was between two girls, hispanic and black, and it was over a guy, the guy was just sitting back, all nonchalant, watching the fight, and dude, the funniest part of the whole thing, while they were going at it, the mexican chick goes and pulls the other chicks weave out.. damn that was funny, so the black girl is hopping around going "my weave! my weave! oh no she didnt!!"  and all this other shit, come on think of it, most of the fights i've seen at vanden are with females.. we have some savage women down here...

i've only been in one physical fight in my whole life.. don't plan on getting into any other ones.. it was painful..

    :D

  6. so, nobody's seen "Roshoman?"

oh and i agree, rushmore and royal tannenbaum's had an awesome soundtrack.. i think it was perfect that they used to stone's "Ruby Tuesday" in that one scene.. very appropriate..

and the director uses a lot of Cat Stevens too.. which is cool...

i am yet to see bottlerocket, but i hear it's good...

  7. oh and artistic i agree with you, i loved royal tannenbaums... i love dark comedies like that, and owen wilson is a really good director/writer in my opinion..(i LOVED rushmore)

the other thing that pissed me off about Vanilla Sky was that they weren't constant with the whole theme of living a dream based on things that you had seen/liked in your real life.. i mean they only pinpointed 3 things, (the bob dylan cover, atticus fitch in "to kill a mockingbird" and penelope cruz was supposed to be likened to audrey hepburn (BLASPHAMEY!) i think it would have been better if cameron crowe had added more things in there, so if you saw the movie a second time you could look back and be like "ohhh i get it now"

and am i the only one who thought the soundtrack kicked ass?

and you can never go wrong with Jason Lee, he's the man..

other good movie i saw lately was this foregin film made in the 1950's called "Roshoman"by the same director who directed "Seventh Samuraui..." it's on the tip of my tounge.. anyway i thought it was rather good..

i can't stop plugging "Hedwigg and the Angry Itch" by far one of the better movies i've seen this year...

  8. oh please, tom cruise is soooo type cast..

i'm NOT a tom cruise fan.. i mean all that man does is BITCH, and WHINE and it's considered acting....

to me Brad Pitt has more of a range and could have pulled off the movie equally, if not better than Tom Cruise

  9. i'm sure i missed TONS that i haven't thought of. ...

i'm sure there are a few of you out there scratching your heads going "winterguard.. what's that?"

it's like colorguard, except inside, with more coreography, costumes, and to music..

usually rifles, sabers, flags, swing flags, and other implements are spun.... and usually is centered on a theme

freshman year i did winterguard and our theme was romeo and juliet.. good fun...
