  1. The order should be as follows:

TV Series-->Death/Rebirth/End Trilogy-->Rebuild Quadrilogy (although only 3 are out so far)

Evangelion is arguably ALL about layered characters and their interplay first, and giant robot action second, so I think everyone should start with the TV series. The relationships between the characters are complex, and their exchanges often subtle, most of which is only glossed over in the films. Also, there a great deal of world building which you only get in the series.

I remember thinking (way before Rebuild happened) that the ideal way to watch was the TV series up to episode 24, then jump straight to End of Evangelion (which is an alternate ending of sorts, and replaces episode 25 and 26)

The Death/Rebirth film was a condensed rehash of the series using mostly the same footage, and now, with the Rebuild project (part 1 specifically) the early parts of the series are 'rehashed' again. This may incline you to skip one of the several re-tellings, but there are some interesting theories that each rehash is not a strict reiteration of the same material, but alternate realities of the events in a sequence, akin to a karmic cycle of sorts. There is actually quite a bit of evidence in the Rebuild project to suggest this is the creators intent, and EVA is enough of a mind fuck to get away with it.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to start with the TV series first to gauge your interest and go from there.

  2. I'm a big fan of the Stardust Crusaders arc in particular, having watched the OAV series back in the mid-90s, and then the DC game in the early 00s. I still recommend that series. Just re-watched it recently and it still holds up, but full of spoilers if you are following along in the TV adaptation (which is covering the same material in 52 episodes versus only 13 for the OAV). When I heard the TV show was finally reaching Stardust, I got excited and watched Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency, both of which I really enjoyed. I was watching the third arc week to week up until episode 9, took a break/got distracted with other stuff, and I just started back up a couple of days ago. I'm on episode 14 of the planned 52 (the shows on hiatus now, after 24 episodes). The animation does dip a bit in quality from episode to episode, as often happens in long running TV shows, but a friend has told me it kicks back up when they get to the meaty stuff later!

  3. The only bad news is, soon I'm going to have to fill out a survey from kickstarter specifying which console/handheld I want to receive a non existent game on. PS3? PS4? PSVita?? How am I supposed to choose!?

  4. With the reveal of Annie as the Female Titan, and suspicions cast on Marco, my biggest fear is that the threat beyond the walls will a cipher. The series has done a fantastic job with world building and setting up the tantalizing possibilities of the world beyond the wall. Part of me is hoping that Annie is part of a sort of 'sleeper cell' from whatever factions exist beyond the wall (this seems to be supported by the fleeting dream sequence at the start of episode 23, of Annie training in the forest), but if it turns out that there is no external threat, and the abnormal titans are merely a disgruntled faction from within the walls, I have to admit I'd be disappointed....

  5.

.....now just waiting for the post-fight to see what her intent/angle was!

Brace yourself, I get the feeling that they are going to give us nothing in terms of the motivations behind the other human/titans.

    Soooo...next saturday anyone??

  6. Looking on Wikipedia, I'm getting confused on this front, because it appears The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog aired from September 6, 1993 to December 24, 1996 (4 seasons), and Sonic the Hedgehog aired from September 18, 1993 to December 3, 1994 (2 season). Why were there two different Sonic animated shows, both made by the same US studio with the same producer and at least some of the same cast, both for US broadcast, that debuted within two weeks of one another?

I can confirm that those two contrasting Sonic shows started at the same time and ran concurrently. Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was the Looney-Toons style one, and it aired weekday mornings (I remember watching it before going to school). Sonic the Hedgehog (the 'darker' one) was on Saturday mornings, and for some reason (it was on too early, or too late) I remember I would usually miss it.

  7. Mangold on The Wolverine 'Unrated' Bluray

There’s about ten or 12 minutes of scenes that I’d love people to see, that we’ll produce some kind of longer version of the movie at some point on Blu-ray or whatever. There’s another great scene with Hiro Sanada and a much more elaborate battle with ninjas from the third act that is a pretty huge battle sequence that you’ll see.

    Double Squee!

  8. I was telling Panch his phone has a better chance of running them than the PS3. The subs I've been downloading are .mkv, which are hit and miss (mostly miss) on the PS3's native player, but run great on the free MXplayer for Android. Plus his Note 2 is only slightly smaller than his TV, so what's the problem?
