  1. I will give you ONE more chance, Stanley Kubrick. Perhaps 2001 isn't as unwatchable after having read the (wonderful, enjoyable, and APPROPRIATELY PACED) book. Perhaps. If it is still all that I remember, it's over. I'm not even gonna bother with A Clockwork Orange, though I've been curious, being unwilling to face another disappointment from you. I'm serious this time, Stanley. I did the same with David Lynch and Blue Velvet, and it worked. Richard Strauss can't save you. Arthur C. Clarke can't save you. This is the last chance. Over and out.

  2. The toll as of now includes the following: David Carradine, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mayes, Walter Cronkite and Frank McCourt.

Now, McMahon, Cronkite and McCourt were all old as dirt in the middle of summer and as such understandable, and Fawcett had been terminally ill for quite awhile, so the only real shockers were Carradine, Mayes and Jackson (though apparently the people around MJ all had been expecting it, though not enough to take any steps toward preventing it). I'm not sure whether we're just hyper aware of the deaths because a few of them were so high profile, or whether it really is unusual, but all I'm saying is if I were Patrick Swayze I'd be keeping two eyes open and looking over my shoulder right now.

  3. Just saw this a few hours ago! Loved it. Lots. Rockwell did a really great job, and I thought it was really well paced.

Although I love almost anything about space. (With the exception of 2001, but I fault Kubrick for that. And for pretty much everything else of his.)

    Music was really good too.

  4. Christina Hendricks... one of the few women with really huge breasts that I think is sexy

And a natural redhead to boot.

I can't decide whether I like her better as Saffron or Joan. Btw, is there a Mad Men thread here? I get sick of searching through pages and pages for things

  5. Ross, I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally like that girl. She has all the things I like in women, she has a pretty face and natural (and really nice) boobs, thin but not skinny, not fake tanned, no extensions or anything, has an ass. Man. I want one. Or two.

  6. I went tubing down the Guadalupe this weekend and it was.... a terrible mistake. It was an enjoyable time and all, but being Memorial weekend the douchebag per square foot ratio was just astonishing.

"It's three in the morning!! And you're camping! Now stop drinking your terrible beer by the gallon and if you set your speakers that loud and play Hinder or Nickelback or that stupid song about Halley's comet again I'll set fire to your tent!"

  7. It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake. I'm a fan of funfetti :D But only when it's not a lie.
  8. Zooey Deschanel is fairly unbelievable. It's ridiculous how much prettier she is than her sister Emily. She's married to Ben Gibbard... don't get me wrong, I think he's a great songwriter and all but....zooey_deschanel.jpgHow does that make a whole lot of sense? I'm probably gonna get some disagreement here, he's got a certain nerdy charm, but he is not an attractive man.

Oh and that Russian redhead was just lovely

  9. I have two episodes backed up on my queue at Hulu, and every time I try to watch them I get bored just clicking on the link. It makes me sad, I used to love this show so much. It feels like the writers have no idea where they're going, just kinda making it up as they go and the things they do have are liable to change whenever the fuck they feel like it. Characters, story lines, nothing follows a normal progression, I always feel like they're stretching things, and I haven't just relaxed and gotten into an episode without thinking about the writers and actors more than the stories and characters in way too many episodes.

Oh well. It had a good season in there. Feels silly to mourn for lost potential.
