Welp, past me was wrong but I did watch some gameplay and lore on this today and I think I'm on board

Someone finally stole my idea for a horror anthology for video games. (hopefully they don't take my idea of having a horror host for every episode. -.- that one is mine, assholes)
-
My takeaways:
1.) looks beautiful
2.) looks very faithful to the source material
3.) If you don't get the implant installed, do you not get a HUD?
4.) Holy shit, breasts look like breasts and not a male power fantasy.
5.) Yeah i'm rolling a int/cha hacker.
6.) I haven't really been a "day one" buyer in a long time. This might change that.
7.) Myself and a co-worker will be taking PTO for this.

I wish Blaze was a little more covered up because, as a busty girl, I can say with confidence that tube top is not conducive to ass kicking. She’d be topless after one spinny kicky move. But otherwise, I’m really hyped for this!
Well too bad. You have to go for 100% accuracy in your cosplay.

Yeah, unless they get Stephen Gammel involved as the art director or something, then this won't work.
This just in:
Guillermo del Toro Confirms That Creatures in ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ Will Be True to Book Illustrations
Perhaps even more iconic than the actual stories found inside of Alvin Schwartz’s three Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books are the illustrations, which came courtesy of Stephen Gammell. The terrifying artwork is largely what made the books so scary, and we’re very glad to hear that those drawings will be brought to life in André Øvredal‘s film adaptation.

Yeah it really is. I have really fond memories of time wasted as a kid playing SoR. I used to record music from tv using my radio and like..DJ my own stuff (oh look, i podcast now) and I had one cassette where i think multiple times in I'd recorded the intro song from SoR because I loved it so much.

Yeah my GF hunted down some earlier editions for me as a present for X mas last year. The reprints they did with the new art are hot garbage - the stories themselves were never that scary but the OG art is what made it for a lot of us as kids.

Filming is just about to begin on director André Øvredal‘s adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for CBS Films, which is being produced by Guillermo del Toro. Young actress Zoe Colletti (Annie) was the first name to be announced from the ensemble, with the full cast now including Michael Garza (Wayward Pines, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1), Austin Abrams (Brad’s Status, The Americans), Gabriel Rush (Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Austin Zajur (Fist Fight, Kidding), and Natalie Ganzhorn (Make it Pop, Wet Bum) .
Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman (LEGO Movie, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) co-wrote the screenplay with Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro and Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan (The Collector, Saw IV-VII, Feast, Piranha 3D) from the bestselling trilogy of books by Alvin Schwartz.
The film is being produced by Guillermo del Toro as well as Sean Daniel and Jason Brown of Hivemind along with Academy Award-winner J. Miles Dale and Elizabeth Grave.
Scary Stories is expected to release in 2019.

Yeah so the new show is new heroes in a modern time, with some people dropping in from the old crew from time to time.
Still on board?

I've been having a lot of similar feelings recently about the length of shows (in-season). There's a lot of ongoing stuff (I am specifically calling out all the DC CW shows) that could be better served by having a season that's half as long. (hell, if you're that worried about numbers, make your cross over events a 2 hour special in the summer).
Some shows just go on too long. I know a lot of people are tuning out of the walking dead, I'm still watching because apparently I hate myself.

I’ve never seen Veronica Mars. I wonder if the original is worth a binge.
I'm biased because I enjoyed it (although not to the level the fandom did), and would say it is.

I AM ACTUALLY LOSING MY SHIT RIGHT NOW.
QuoteThe latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals Langrisser I & II, which includes full remakes of the first two entries in the tactical RPG series, for PlayStation 4 and Switch. A release date was not announced.
The games are being fully remade, from graphics to systems, and optimized to be easier to play for newcomers. Character designs are completely new, the scenario is fully voiced, and the UI is being optimized. Battles also have cut-ins, and new elements not included in the original games will be added.
Here are some production-related details:
- Maker: Kadokawa Games
- Planning and Production: Chara-Ani Corporation
- Supervision: Extreme
- Character Design: Ryo Nagi
- Composer: Noriyuki Iwadare
The game will be officially announced during a presentation event on August 29. Development is currently 50 percent complete.

Its actually because of Warsong that i got really into the idea of "in media res" when I started writing my own tabletop games because the game starts with a castle under siege.
I played this game OBSESSIVELY. It was one of my "pick it up at least once a year to play it" games. I used to be SO angry we never got the sequels.

Like I just got asked to get a staff member to review this, and I have no one to assign it to.
-
Yeah, I mean it's not a paid gig. Having as many console/PC options as possible would be helpful. Everyone on staff right now is just friends of mine (mostly people I met through Overwatch). And they are mostly indy titles (like today I got asked about a Kart racer, and Read Only Memories - a cyberpunk game). It's just finding people who actually want to do it. We get a lot of "yeah i want to do it" they get one article submitted and then it's suddenly too hard.
-
Anyone ever wanted to take a crack at reviewing games? We get way too many requests to do game reviews - we can't keep up with them. No pay but hey its a free game.

Its the one show my gf and I make time to curl up on the couch and "actively" watch (not playing games or whatever). I haven't seen this weeks, but I've been loving it.
-
Do we really need this though?
-
-Netflix
-Amazon
-Hulu
-Private Streaming website
Honestly, if I had more options for just putting the private site on every tv, I'd cut down to that since they get everything pretty quickly (some netflix shows go up same day). Amazon we have because of prime so that would stick around.
I know I'm the minority here because I use a site like that, which basically means my desire to use new streaming services is cut to 0. Every time I see someone is starting a new streaming service I shrug - I figure if the show is that good, I'll see it pop up on my feed and check it out when I have the time.

yes and no - i should really read this more, but archie comes up in these conversations and it strikes me as such an anomaly, because they literally have to have some sweetheart deal with grocery stores/etc to stay up by the registers like that. it is worth noting that i've started to see avengers type reprints in that section in recent years too though, i'd be interested in seeing if they've had much success in the YA market
Marvel actually cut a deal with Archie to distribute certain titles in grocery stores as digests etc fairly recently - and DC now has a line of Walmart TPBs at a reduced rate (cheaper paper) to promote their bigger titles like Batman etc.
