  1. Way to go to the USA women's soccer team. It was a hard fought game, and we came out on top. Esp awesome since Japan beat us at the world cup for gold. Was on the edge of my seat for the whole match, and I realized the whole block was watching the games as well when we made our second goal, and I heard 3 other people yelling victory chants from my open window :)

  2. Uh, you're kidding right? McLeod was warned at the half about holding the ball over 6 seconds, and I counted twice before that she held onto it for 15. The handball call is meh, but she (the ref) took it literal; I would expect nothing less in an Olympic medal match.

CANADA on the other hand...calling out the ref, saying she had "decided the game before it started"...WTF? Way to lose graciously. If you don't like a call, you appeal to the committee, and they will review it. You don't immediately call out the Ref, and the other team, and tell the press that there was some illegal shit going on. That's pathetic, and not how you play on a world stage.

    Grow up, Canada.

  3. US Womens Soccer team is going to play Japan for GOLD on Thursday!!!!

The match this afternoon, USA vs Canada, was the most edge of your seat game of football I've seen in years!!!! We won it in the 122nd min, Alex Morgan got a header in like 30 seconds before it would have gone to penalty kicks.

Canada played so well, it was such an intense game. But USA persevered.

    I love you Alex Morgan!!! <3 <3 <3

  4. See, I've never been able to tan. But I've known a couple of other gingers who can. They have a lighter color red than I do, though...almost more like strawberry blond-ish, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

  5. So Mo Farah won the 10000m for Britain yesterday. It was pretty emotional; he came to America to train, and trained with Galen Rupp. who is the American who won silver. They fought the whole way, and after the race, they were both so obviously happy for one another...it was hard not to get emotional about the whole thing. Here's the only video I could find with highlights of the race.

    Check it out...it's pretty awesome.

Also, the more I learn about the South Korean fencing girl who was soooooo super wronged the angrier I get. The time keeper was a 15 year old volunteer, and he's the reason she lost. Who does that? Who uses a KID to keep TIME in the Olympics? I would have refused a stupid and glorified participation medal too. She would have won gold, had it not been for that kid. And I can't believe the officials didn't side with South Korea about the ruling either.

At least she's taking home a team gold though.

  6. My sister convinced me to start watching, and it's probably the most engrossing non-supernatural/sci-fi/fantasy show on television right now. The premise is pretty simple...it's the going-ons and behind the scenes look at life behind a news desk. There's a human element, which actually adds to the whole show instead of detracts, and it's real stories over the past year that are used (for instance, tonights' episode was about Osama's death).

Watch it, my Hondo's fwens :D I think you would probably all pretty enjoy it. It comes on HBO Sundays after True Blood.

  7. The first African American, and woman of color to ever win a gold medal for the gymnastics all around, not to mention the first American to ever win gold both for the team and individual all around....Gabby Douglas.

Pretty fucking magnificent. Way to go. She has an awesome spirit, and she did great.

Also, IMO, Michael Phelps is still the greatest Olympic athlete. 20 medals, 16 of them gold, he's the only person in the world to win a couple of those events 3 times in a row. So over a course of 12 years, he's remained the fastest man in the water. In Beijing, he broke 7 world records. SEVEN. I'm actually kinda sad that this will probably be his last Olympics, but then at least maybe Ryan Lochte can win a gold medal on his own :P

  8. Logans - Enough.

    Iambaytor - yes.

Newtype - Once upon a time, in HS, teenage me was sitting next to teenage Logan. He told me that he had a wrath, and it followed him around everywhere. I told him no way, there's no way that was true. He told me that not ONLY was it true, I was hurting the wraths feelings by not believing. Also the wrath was like a grey cloud of hate, or something along those lines.

I would say you would be pretty crazy to not make someone who has their own built in wrath following them around everywhere your general, but that's just me.

  9. @ Iceman - if anyone has moves like Jagger, it's probably Jagger. You are most certainly a close second though <3

@ Logan - I truly believe Oppenhiemer spent the rest of his life hating himself for his own brilliance. Would you be able to carry that knowledge on your conciseness? His creation has led to the destruction of millions. As I understand it, when his ex girlfriend committed suicide in 1944, it left his deeply saddened. I can imagine the deaths attributed to his inventions would affect him even more so.

That was a really sad question :(

@ Mr Hakujin - NO! Craig Ferguson is. I love it when he has other Scottish people on his show, and then they both talk all super Scottish and it's hard to really understand either of them :D

  10. Silent Hill trailer came out today. It looks awful. I know there has to be artistic license when making a film out of a video game, but it looks as though the producers have changed everything about the game for the movie, and it just looks terrible. But here, judge for yourself:

  11. "I'm high as a Georgia (can't understand that word" had me giggling. I loved it.

Remember this? When we beat France? And it was fucking awesome?

And this also made me tear up. I wish I could fly, and I imagine Shawn is probably the closest any human has ever come to actual flight. He had ALREADY won this...he could have just strutted down the half pipe and won. But no....he went for it. Did something no other human being has ever done before. And it was brilliant.

  12. I can't really take credit for this thread...Panch is the one who told me to do it after I was reminicing about the 1999 Spurs championship.

I think, if we're being honest, that was a defining moment in my life...one of those "fuck yeah, I can do anything moments"...the joy I got from seeing the Twin Towers with Avery and Sean WIN everything...it was amazing.

I didnt think it could get any better...until 2003. David Robinson says its going to be his last year. And it was fucking amazing.

He won, on fathers day. And Coach P let the second string play the final few min of the game, so they could say they played in the final game. I...I don't even have words. It was amazing. I don't really get emotional very often...but for some reason with sports it's different.

    Go Spurs Go :)
