  1. it really wouldn't make sense. The only characters that you see in both the Hobbit and LOTR are Elrond, Gandalf, Bilbo, Gloin, Smeagol, and Lobelia.

I don't remember Gloin being in LOTR, just a reference to him when Gandalf refers to Gimli as "Gimli, Son of Gloin", nor do I recall Lobelia either (unless they were both in the book version and and left out of the movie just like Tom Bombadil).

But fair enough, if you wanna stick to the book, then they should at least get Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellan, Ian Holm (if age isn't a factor), and Andy Serkis to reprise their roles of Elrond, Gandalf, Bilbo, and Gollum respectedly. Also get John-Rhys Davies to play Gimli's father Gloin, although I doubt he'll do it, cuz if I recall, Rhys-Davies was allergic to the dwarf make-up, so I dunno if he'll wanna go through that hell all over again.

  2. I wonder if they are gonna get any of the other actors from LOTR to come back for the Hobbit? I know Gandalf is practically a shoe-in, since Ian McKellan said he would love to play him again. I'd love to see Ian Holm reprise Bilbo, but he might be a bit too old unfortunately. How about Legolas, Elrond, Gimli? Elves are immortal, so it would make sense for Legolas to be alive, and if I am not mistaken, Elrond WAS in the 70s cartoon version of Hobbit, so I'd love to see Hugo Weaving come back to reprise the role. I imagine dwarves live a long time, so Gimli COULD come back, or if not, then I know Balin (Gimli's cousin) was in the 70s Hobbit, so we could technically get John Rhys-Davies to play a dwarf again--if not Gimli, then he could play Balin (just with slightly different make up but keeping the "family resemblance"). Also the Hobbit takes place 60 years before LOTR (according to the caption in the beginning of Fellowship Of The Ring), and in the Special Edition Extended LOTR DVD, Aragorn mentions he is 87 years old, which would make him 27 at the time of Hobbit, so maybe Aragorn could be in this movie as well. I know a lot of this is definitely wishful thinking on my part, but I think if we could incorporate as much of the LOTR cast as possible, it would really help to make the Peter Jackson retelling of the Hobbit a great movie!

On a side note, I do have my suspicions on Guillermo del Toro directing the Hobbit, but then again, perhaps if he and Peter Jackson collaborate together on it similar to how George Lucas and Steven Spielberg collaborated for the Indiana Jones movies, then there's hope yet.

  3. And they're remaking TRON which will be awesome or I'll have a crying fit in the theaters because a bad remake of TRON will be the equivalent of going back in time, find a 5 year old version of me, and kicking him square in the balls.

That would be SO AWESOME! I thought Tron was one of those movies that was way ahead of its time, and that's probably it wasn't as appreciated. The SFX were awesome considering the movie was made back in 1982. Imagine doing the same type of movie but now with CG. I am salivating just thinking of the results!

  4. Starship Troopers is like Robocop it seems stupid and then you go back and watch it again years later and realize "this is one of the most brilliant things I have ever seen committed to film" and I still guard my Robocop trilogy like Gollum guards the ring. This movie will be passable! Not great, but it will be entertaining!

The way older movies are making a comeback with newer sequels, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a Robocop 4 coming out sometime soon. Of course with the new tradition, they won't call it Robocop 4, they will call it something like "Robocop: Instrument of Justice" or something (like they called Rocky 6 "Rocky Balboa" and Die Hard 4 "Live Free or Die Hard).

  5. Starship Troopers 3: Marauder

After that piece of shit Hero of the Federation it looks like they've reclaimed some dignity and a budget. It's also good to see Casper Van Dien back (A sentence that sounds foreign and dirty coming from my mouth) and honestly how can you not want to see a movie that has a character named Dix Hauser?

Don't get your hopes up on this one. Looked it up on imdb.com and it looks as if it's not gonna be in the theaters, but going straight to DVD.

This movie would probably have more promise if they just gotten Paul Verhoeven back on the director's chair. Maybe if he had done the same for Basic Instinct 2 then the movie might've been SLIGHTLY better (even Paul could've only done so much with a 48-yr old Sharon Stone).

  6. Just FYI, I started up the Crap Shack Trivia Challenge again, in case anyone wants to participate. Nick suggested I mention it on here and I might get more participants, so if interested, stop by the Crap Shack. Will post the next round questions soon.

  7. Early footage of comedian Dan Whitney. Look familiar??? Look closer, you will see that's no other than Larry The Cable Guy BEFORE he "turned" redneck.

Pay attention to some of the jokes, they are very familiar as he uses them later on as Larry (like the "going fishing and caught a Cuban" bit, and the "met a girl with a beauty mark, was kissing her and it was a tick" for example).

  8. You gotta love him or hate him... the Angry Nintendo Nerd

Somebody should open a thread about this in Nintendorks...

Sounds like a ripoff of The Irate Gamer, even the same game!

Of course maybe the Irate Gamer ripped off him, so who knows...

  9. i would love to see takei appear in the film as his father. maybe even a little fencing between the two would be great, only this time shirts on please!!!!

I think all of the surviving Original-series cast members should be in this movie, even if for a quick cameo scene at the end of the movie or something.

  10. I like achievements in games, but they don't necessarily have to be limited to high scores only. Completing an impossible side quest in a Final Fantasy game is sure something to be proud of! Take for example, defeating Emerald Weapon and Ruby Weapon in FF7, with their ONE MILLION HPs!!! Took forever, but I done it! Also trying to breed a Gold Chocobo in that game is no easy task, I can tell you that! Sure all it will get me is bragging right, but it sure does rock!
