1. Re: Killer Joe-

I actually saw the play that this was based on at the behest of my Survey of Motion Pictures professor, like 10-11 years ago.

Watched the film adaptation a couple of weeks ago, and it's pretty loyal, if not a bit more menacing than I remember.

    My friend swears that....

    chicken wing fellatio

was in the play as well but I have only the slightest recollection of it.

    You'd think something like

    chicken wing fellatio

would stick with you but apparently not.

BTW- there is no way you would forget that part. Saw this and like a lot of broadway or plays to theater, it didn't work. The trailer was pretty cool, but this movie is empty unless you are a fan of anyone who's in it.

  2. Please, please tell me you saw the Saturday Night Live 'Homeland' sketch? Every single person nailed their impression of each character. This is one of those things I like to watch whenever I'm having a bad day because it will 100% always put me in a better mood. I dare y'all to watch this and try not to smile :D

Yeah that was so wrong but so right. see there's the stupid unlikely coming out... lol. don't watch that video if you haven't seen up to the end of season 2.. and ic - the last season of dexter was a step in the right direction.

unless you remember it was about him being with someone who has the exact morals of the people he kills... the writers had to go somewhere though didn't they? cause it was all going to suckland otherwise

  3. its a great show and hate how it's compared to 24. season 1 starts off slow and too be honest i was giving up on it while my buddies kept me on it (angel and bermudez - but one hour each week of this is REALLY tough), but by the end everything is flying at you. and it's not like action packed, it's about the characters in a drama/thriller/suspense kind of way. There aren't that many main characters and there's a lot of family and everyday stuff in there too. I would say it becomes more thriller/suspense rather than drama 3/4 in. You will have to hold back a little logic as s1 comes to an end. So to sum it up, you won't like it if you want things to happen right away or will have to hold disbelief. Damien is awesome and so is danes, but i think damien does a better job. S1 gets wrapped up in a nice little package by the end if that's what you like. but season 2 it becomes more out there and characters start doing things that seem stupid or unlikely. but there seems to be a critic consensus 2 was great.

  4. keep it up haku.. i know it's a little late, but can you have like a larger scale or be meaner to the movies you pick, like pitch perfect? lol.

anyway.. if you could how about Arbitrage, Rock of ages and Bourne legacy? what you think of Amazing Spiderman, Premium Rush, prometheus and dark night rises (my recent thumbs ups) sorry you didn't quite share my disappointment with expendables 2 (given), brave, taken 2, killer joe and cloud atlas (tries so hard to be epic). i thought artist was a tad better than average and warrior way underrated.

im guessing you probably just put your reviews in the appropriate threads, its just that it's scary to go in them with all those untagged spoilers...

  5. oh, and this movie reminds me a lot about moon, an amazing, more straightforward movie that has scifi/philosophical feeling to it. Plus kevin spacey and sam rockwell in some amazing performances (kevin actually is just voicing though....)

  6. wow, what a great movie. great great great.

I had read about this being a parallel rather than a straight prequel and it really makes more sense it being a parallel to the alien movies.

Haku, I really like some of your ideas about what they did here.

David being an angry/spiteful character wanting to kill humanity is an

interesting spin and theory. I like his one on ones with mara and john

(was that his name) about life and creation.; But I think he was more

following weiland's orders, creating the monster and waking the engineer.

I really believe he wanted peace when he started talking with the thing.

If he did want to wipe out humanity, why help mara at the end? still, you

can't help but look at him and see;his pain when he's told he lacks a soul

    or emotion.

but if he did want to wipe out humanity - his;conversation

with;mara when she told him she wanted to find out why the engineers wanted

to;obliterate humanity and his confusion is that much more impactful,

because he technically wouldnt have cared, being a creation of humans.

those eel things on the planet.. i think were just there to get a rise from

the fans, like here comes the alien, cool. in actuality they had nothing

to do with them and mabye to survive on that particular planet, animals have to

    have acid blood.

The biological weapons were in my opinion, meant for earth. they knew

what this stuff would do to humans, especially with that mural in the

room. and how david knew exactly how to administer it, seems like they

were just pit stoping at this planet. mabye the worms were killing

them. i haven't quite put that together

finally, isn't it just a little strange the stages the alien has

increased? unless that's the first one, the first queen.. because face

huggers don't emerge from the host...

i also don't get why the guy at the beginning would purposely commit suicide

to create life... but it's an easy explanation if you figure these engineers

have a military arm or a scientific or religious faction. -another reason for

the murals and the possible crazies to destroy humanity

  7. Viral Clip Gives Korea's PSY A Pop Culture Moment

NEW YORK -- Korean rapper PSY – who is having a pop culture moment with his viral music video for "Gangnam Style" – says he's been doing funky choreography for a decade in his native Korea. But he's excited his colorful style is being celebrated in the United States, and around the world.

"I did a lot of strange dance moves for 12 years in Korea," PSY said in an interview Wednesday, adding that the reaction today reminds him of his musical debut back home. "This is kind of (the) same story."

The music video for "Gangnam Style," released last month, so far has garnered more than 49 million views on YouTube. The bright, vibrant clip features the comedic and flamboyant PSY delivering somewhat bizarre choreography – including a horse-riding dance – while rapping and singing in Korean over a thumping, dance-flavored beat. The video, full of colorful, lively outfits, includes a mob of dancers backing PSY and the only words he says in English are "Hey, sexy lady." It's currently No. 1 on iTunes' music videos chart.

"The thing is, I have special visuals. I'm not like (a) normal entertainer (when it comes to visuals)," he said. "That's why when I dance . it looks different. I have a different body, different shape, different visuals."

The 34-year-old, born Jae-Sang Park, is a widely famous star in Korea, and is enjoying his U.S. breakthrough. His stage name is derived from "psycho" and he writes and produces his own music. "Gangnam Style" is about the lavish and luxurious lifestyle connected to the trendy Gangnam district, located in Seoul. PSY even choreographed the routines in the clip.

"In Korea they're celebrating me because I didn't try anything. I didn't promote, I didn't target anything about going overseas," he said. "It just happened like this with YouTube and Twitter. I think those two feed me."

"Years ago we talked about this great, democratizing force the Internet was going to be, and it would strip down nationalities and barriers and boundaries, and this is a great way of that happening," said Bill Werde, the editor of Billboard. "In some ways it's very simple. There's no great science behind it. Someone saw a video that they loved and they shouted about it."

Of millions watching the viral video, there are a growing number of celebrities expressing their love for the song, including Katy Perry, T-Pain, Robbie Williams, Josh Groban and Nelly Furtado, who performed some of the song at a recent concert.

"When I realized that some top stars like have imagined or tweeted about me, I thought like, `That's joking. ...That's not gonna happen,'" he said. "I never expect things like this, not because they are top stars but because this is the biggest market in the universe for pop music, right, so everybody's dreaming about having appearance in the U.S. so I'm still saying .'What am I doing ... here? This is beautiful.'"

"Gangnam Style" appears on PSY's sixth studio album, "PSY 6." He had a meeting with Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, last week. But the singer-rapper was tight-lipped about the get-together.

"He doesn't want me to talk about our relationship yet so, what can I say?" PSY said, adding with a laugh: "He's a nice person."

The chubby musician is finding success at a time when K-Pop, Korean pop music, is growing in the United States. But PSY, whose song is spending its fourth week on top of Billboard's K-Pop Hot 100 chart, says he doesn't fit the typical mold of most K-Pop artists, and he's OK with it.

"There are standards, like skinny, muscular, handsome, pretty, tall, whatever, none (of those) categories belong to me," he said with a laugh.

"Doing it not right is right," he added. "That was my whole life. I was not suitable visually, musically, anything. I was not the standard. I was not suitable for common standards, and that can be unique, but in another way, it can be . negative."

PSY was born in Korea, but briefly attended Boston University and Berklee College of Music. He released his debut "PSY from the PSYcho World!" in 2001, and said his musical influences are mainly rappers, like Eminem, 2 Pac, Jay-Z and Dr. Dre.

"When I was a kid I was just a noisy boy and . I preferred to be in front of people when I was young all the time," he said. "At that time I was not a good singer; still I'm not a good singer. So, when I see the rappers (I thought), `Oh, talk can be music? Wow. That's . for me.'"

  8. $800+ for a 3 credit undergraduate course, instate tuition at FIU, a second rate college. all the combinations that should be making for a lower tuition but still 800+ I don't even want to know what it would be at another institution, graduate or out of state in 2012.
