  1. Reports are coming in that a new single entitled "Discipline" has hit the Airwaves in Milwaukee, Seattle, LA, etc.

    Oh, and it has lyrics.

    From The NIN Hotline:

Check out these reports, and if your local rock station plays NIN stuff, maybe you should tune in today, or call and ask them if they'll follow suit:

Katrina says: FM 102.1 (WLUM) in Milwaukee is debuting a new NIN song today that actually has words.

Alexander: a single "discipline" just got released to radio today. it was mastered yesterday.

Jim: I was just driving in Seattle and 107.7 The End just played a new NIN song called "Discipline".

Nancy: i just heard a new song on KROQ in LA called Disapline. wtf is this about I have not heard anything about a new song with words!!!

It appears this song was sent to radio stations across the United States, and most of them played it between 2:30 and 2:45pm Eastern Time, resulting in a bit of a flood of very surprised emails headed our way. The song was mastered by Alan Moulder yesterday afternoon, and turned over to radio stations less than 24 hours later!

    Full version...still low-quality here...

  2. thanks man, you know im happy when people notice the little things that took time.

for those wondering: yeah, im aware the new politics logo's out of sync, stillbored's working with me to help get rid of the overlapping skin arabia bit. Just so you all know, i found another gray one just like the last, but the banner link back to the board's root wasnt broken. I only wanted to try this one cause i really liked how it displays topics, its kinda unique. Im gonna work on fixing it tonight, if it doesnt go well, ill go with the other one.

I suggest nuking it from orbit...it's the only way to be sure.

Seriously though, if you need help with anything as far as forcing it to work right, let me know. I'll be up for the next several hours, I'm sure.

  3. Opinions m'man, everyone has them.

Dude I'm just screwin with yeah. I know that doesn't always translate well over the internet, but a threat to bludgeon someone to death with an album shouldn't be taken even remotely seriously.

  4. after giving all of it a listen, i think its nothing more than dull background with flashes of potential that never really goes anywhere, i'd rather listen to some early mortiis if i want background, at least i won't be frustrated by things that sound good going nowhere....

If I meet you in real life, I will promptly thank you for the shirt, and then bludgeon you to death with the massive $75 version of the album (provided I get it at some point).

  5. Well...Trent Reznor just dropped another bomb by announcing and releasing a new album ON THE SAME DAY.

Nine Inch Nails presents Ghosts I - IV, a brand new 36 track instrumental collection available right now. Almost two hours of new music composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I - IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.

Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

Following his experimental business model of the latest Saul Williams album, there are five different packages for purchase.

    1. Free Download - Ghosts I - The first 9 tracks from the Ghosts I-IV collection available as high-quality, DRM-free MP3s, including the complete PDF.

Two weeks ago, on nin.com, TR posted a blog titled "2 weeks" and that was all. Yesterday he posted a blog titled "Soon". At 6:10 GMT-06:00 (my time, deal with it) this evening, he posted a blog titled "2 hours".

At 8:08 the site updated with a new look and blog titled "ghosts i-iv" with the blog stating "The new Nine Inch Nails record is available RIGHT NOW."

Announced and released same day. Jeez.

I'm on track 11 right now and it's crazy. A huge change of pace for NIN but definitely NIN. Many styles have been touched on (and it's all instrumental)...and it has the feel of a musical experiment, which it essentially is. Very good stuff.

OH! Quick edit! Forgot to mention that it's released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike license. Under a fucking Creative Commons license!

  6. The gnome is in Episode 2 only

In Chapter 1 when Alyx is making a transmission to Dr. Kliener and her father (you know, where you have to use the gravity gun to plug yet something else in...what a waste of technology), anyway, if you turn toward the exit door, he's in the right corner of the room....if I remember correctly (I may not be), he's under something.

But yeah, then you gotta carry him throughout the ENTIRE game,

put him in the nose cone of the rocket in Chapter 6, and then CLOSE THE DOOR TO THE NOSE CONE or you won't get the achievement.

  7. oh shit, i gotta go see yours - you got Little Rocket Man? fucking props. :misty:

Bish says Blue Dragon is an unforgiving bitch with achievements ("its like 10 points for maxing out your character!")

Yeah, it was fucking hell getting through various part *spoilers*

Like the part where the fucking helicopter is chasing you and you have to drive and avoid its shots...and keep Alyx from dying...AND CARRY THE FUCKING GNOME.

The gnome doesn't sit well in the car...and you literally have to get out of the car every 20 feet to pick him back up and either shoot him way ahead of you with the gravity gun, or pray that he'll just fucking stay in the god damn car.

Seriously...hell. I seriously started to lose my mind during parts of it...talking to the gnome, etc.

    ...good times...

  8. Is it bad that I wasted 2 hours last night trying to get the "Survivalist" achievement in Hexic HD last night? Yes.

Is it bad that I made Half-Life: Episode 2 a living hell by carrying a gnome with me through the game? Yes.

Was it worth it for a couple achievements? Totally.

  9. Welps, I beat HL2: Episode 1 and I'm almost done with Episode 2 (and got the "Little Rocket Man" achievement, to boot)...I guess it'll be back to Blue Dragon and Rock Band after that.

    ...or maybe Dead Rising again...yeah.

  10. Well, my brother and I beat the advanced levels in Portal last night....so unless I want to go for the "fewest portals" ones, there's not much else left to do....besides, I don't know, maybe play through Episode 1 and 2 (I waited so long to play them, and yet, I've only played portal thus far).

    Or Rock Band....yesss.

Or Blue Dragon if I can get over that fact that I have to do a stupid, fucking GUARDING MISSION.

  11. Long story short, we were using someone's internet, which he was cool with. Anyway, his wife found out we were using it, got pissed, and made him lock it down. Simple explanation as to why I've hardly been around.

Anyway, still looking for internets, and I have a different gamertag. Add NomaProject to your friend lists, people!

  12. ....shit.

you know, ive noticed Best Buy's not having the kinda service they did in years past; graned, i kinda took advantage of it in the day, but even their exchange policy was far easier. LL gave me the Firefly set for christmas the other year, and i somehow got 2 copies of disc 1; when i went to exchange it, they acted like i was either lying or bought it elsewhere because i didnt have a reciept or know the buyer's exact info, none of which was i expecting for just a simple exchange that Target did that same day in like 3 minutes.

anyway, glad it worked out man, hope your new system holds up better. Be sure to post your gametag when you can (what's your XBL name? i gotta put it in our thread, if i havent) and also, what's the Elite bring exactly, agian? i know you get the bigger hard drive, which i think is the big plus of the package, just trying to see what else it broguht/pre-loaded.

My XBL tag is "Whotookthisname" but it's not updated at all because I don't have any kind of internet at the apartment (joy!). As for the Elite, it comes with a 120 gig hard drive, the HDMI output, all sorts of cables, some Halo3 footage pre-loaded, some bigger demos (Call of Duty 3, Lego Star Wars 2), about 15 Arcade Demos, and up to date firmware.

    That's really about it.

  13. The elite are having the same problems as the other 360s. Just be sure to keep MS phone# on speed dial.

I knew Frailure had to be someone from texas and now i know.

Yup, have their Tech support number in my phone finally.

    Oh, and Frailure is MH.

  14. Contrary to Nicks' logic above...I just gave in and got an Elite 360.

On par with the rest of my life, this was barely an easy task....

About a week before MH left this area for K-Ville, I went to the local Best Buy and got a Premium 360, GHII and Dead Rising..and much fun was had by all. About a week later, I got a copy of the latest Tony Hawk installment...even more fun.

No problems, no nothing, good times.

Then the price drop hit, and I called teh Best Buy to see if they'd give me back the difference in prices ($50). They said they would.

So, Thursday, I make the trek back up there to get my rebate. After an hour of standing in line, they tell me that I need to bring the console up to the store so they can get the serial number off of it....so I can collect a mere $50. Whatever, I leave the store.

2 hours late, I decided to pop in Tony Hawk for some pre-sleep time gaming.

After about 20 minutes of skateboarding goodness, there's a loud POP and then a god-awful grinding noise coming from the DVD Drive of the 360. It immediately crashes back to the dashboard and I jump to open the tray. Over the next 2 hours, I keep trying various discs (old burned CD's so I wouldn't fuck up any games) to see what the problem is.

Basically, it would do one of two things:

    1. Take the disk, make three short grinding noises, and then emit a 5 second hum from the DVD Drive, and then tell me the disc was unplayable, or

    2. Take the disk, make a horrible grinding noise, and then play the disc while ripping it to shreds. FUN!

So Friday night, I make the trek BACK to Best Buy with the dead box. They recognize me and start to process my rebate again, and I tell them that I want to just go ahead an upgrade to the Elite console, as it would only cost an extra $50 at that point. They try to redirect me to Geek Squad at this point, telling me that they might be able to fix it...I respectfully decline this offer.

At some point in all this I realize my Gamertag and Save Games are on the hard drive, and I want them. With over 40 achievements, a gamerscore of 700 something, all songs unlocked on GHII, etc...I don't want to go back through all that crap.

I propose at this point that I go buy a memory card, and they just hook it up to a TV and just quickly transfer the files.

The lady at customer service just looks at me...

    - Best Buy

    :pig: - Me

"So you want to move the stuff from this xbox *points to the old one* to this one? *points to the new one*"

"Yes ma'am...I'll just go buy a memory card so y'all can do it quickly"

"But can't you just take the old hard-drive? You know...switch them out?"

"Not really...the new one has a 120 gig hard drive..."

"Oh...but you can't take them both home with you"

"What? No, I just want to buy a memory card so you guys can transfer the files to it"

"Oh. Well, but you can't return the memory card after that."

"I know that, I don't want to...I just want you to transfer the files. I'll buy and keep the memory card."

"Oh...let me check with Geek Squad"

    *30 Minutes Pass*

"They said that it will cost you $100 for a data transfer"

"You're Joking right?! All you need to do is plug it into a TV so you can move it onto the memory card"

"Well, you're using their equipment, and since it'll cost so much more *insert long credit card sales pitch*"

"Fine, whatever, charge me for the difference for the new Xbox and I'll go talk to geek squad"

At this point I go wait for 45 minutes in line over a Geek Squad. Of course, I was the only one there. Of course, I flagged everyone and their mother down for assistance. Of course, I was ignored.

Finally someone comes over. At this point I'm yelling some shit about calling corporate and getting people fired and probably about killing puppies as well. I use the term "yelling" rather liberally...I wasn't actually yelling, but was using some very choice words. The only time I've ever threatened a sales rep that I would call corporate of any company EVER.

Anyway, he hooks it up, and seems to have a better understanding of what was going on. He tells me that "they" told him that I needed a full hard-drive transfer/data recovery. He goes in, gets what I need, and tells me that it's free because it sounded like I'd been through enough shit already.

Sorry for the rant. But I have an elite, and it fucking rocks. I just hope it doesn't die like the last one and I have to deal with fucking Best Buy again.

Probably the last time I'll ever shop there, really.

    The End.
