Piggylover69
I was thinking... Will the sequels to LOTR get oscars , or, were all the awards burnt out on the first movie? ......................
The NZA
Ask me again in about a year....cant say from the trailer, but Two Towers looks lively.
soldier of fortune
Maybe, the book was good but will the film live up to it?! It might do well!! Cant judge on a trailer, or still photos!! So we'll have to wait!
Take Me To Your Lizard
The Academy don't like sequels, and the Academy don't like fantasy. Shame really, as the first LotR was one of the best films I've ever seen, and since they were all filmed together, I have high hopes for the second. Let's just hope the first wasn't fluke. I doubt it though, Peter Jackson is a great filmmaker and a commited Tolkein fan. You might expect it to get best visuals, best costumes etc, but since Fellowship racked up a few of those this year they might be reluctant to give em out again to the sequel. Looking forward to finding out!
Reverend Jax
The acedemy might like sequels, but they understand that not just was this films together, but it's really one movie. They might not like fantasy, but they understand that as far as fantasy goes, this is as good as it gets. the word is that everyone expected the same quality of book-to-film translations for the next two films as was seen in the first, and if the acedemy votes any of them for best film, it will be ROTK. JunkerSeed
They don't like fantasy, but they sure do like epics, and LOTR is about as epic as you get. The next two books are nothing but war and battle and epic this and epic that, so who knows? I think they'll certainly have the chance, but the Acadamy would rather pick something else. They might keep winning the effects and visual stuff, but the matrix will give em a bit of competition there. The academy really goes for true story and history based stuff, they want their movies to be edutainment! Like those mathblaster computer games sort of... The only reason gladiator won IMO... anyway, I think they have a shot because they're epics and the books are respected, but I wouldn't bet on it. Reverend Jax
I think the only reason FOTR didn't win is because the academy didn't want to have the three films win three years in a row. They want it to only win once, and so it will, in 2003 with ROTK. Many 2T, but i would bet on ROTK. One of these film will walk away witht he best film award. soldier of fortune
You mention this theory before, i agree with you on that, they didn't wanna be three in a row! Like last year were all the big ones went to Afro - Americans, so i think they'll pick some niche again!
Reverend Jax
Yes I know I mentioned it before. I was thinkning of quoting it, but I ended up just retyping it. I haven't seen Training Day, but I saw Monster's Ball last week, and Halle Berry earned the statue, with or without a black sympathy vote. soldier of fortune
What cos she got her tits out! ??
Reverend Jax
Her whole body gave an incredible performance. Seriously, nudity or not, she portrayed a really tortured soul. The stuff she went through was really devastating (I'm being non-specific for those yet to see it) and she came off as someone that was really going through that.
