Pac-Man

The NZA

so id wanted to talk about how awesome Pac-Man is, but then i found this (30th anniversary edition!) to do it for me:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2jFVmD8ycE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2jFVmD8ycE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2jFVmD8ycE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

fuck yes. CE was a blast, hopefully this one goes multi-plat.

  • 3 weeks later...

52% on trophies....i gotta beat every time and score attack for the others, plus sort out getting 1 millie in 5 min score attack, 2 mil in 10. it can be done, but not on the first set: playing on expert still only gave me @ 800k. still more doable than Pac-Man CE, where i almost platted it but still gotta beat the last challenge set (survive 20 mins or whatever....).

what i love is - decades after Pac-Land and that one Tengen (remember them?) one where you could jump over the ghosts, this actually feels like a true sequel.

yeah, i platted/100% this one today and my eyes are super-tired from trying to keep up from those; the last batch of timed levels in the dark are also unkind at parts. next to bring my global leaderboard #'s up, my overall score was in the 300's or so, i know i can do better. for one, on the timed missions, i just can't not eat a string of 10 or more ghosts (even when there's clearly no fucking score in that setting), it's a weakness i have to work on.

Pacmania was the one that was the one with the isometric view were you could jump over ghosts. I loved that one. CEDX is awesome as well. Got 200/200 on Xbox Live, and I'm STILL playing it. That says all you need to know. I'm debating grabbing it on PSN too.........

ah, fuck, you're right - i always mix up the names, Pac-Land was the weak platformer that reminded me of the cartoon!

Space - how're you ranked on XBL? i hope you're using the analog sticks, the 360's d-pad is absolutely not ideal for this game.

What is this I don't even. . .

Sentiment seconded.

It's like TRON & a Daft Punk video gang-raped Ms. Pac-Man then her illegitimate offspring banged Lady Gaga at a rave while on X. . .

. . .and then one weekend in-between chipping away at an 8-ball their kid made a video game about his gran'dad.

Most apt description ever.

...point.

im debating using an arcade stick for old-school feel, but if you don't mind shelling out a few bucks...i gotta dig up the link, but ive read there's a really cheap RB drum kit thing on amazon that brings this hub-like controller for the 360 with it; its said to be the finest d-pad the system's seen, but lacking shoulder buttons, its obviously limited to XBLA titles like this. if you're interested (pretty sure it was > $20), lemme know, ill find it.
