With hip-hop pumpin it up and r&b slowin it down, the extremes were locked. But for a small window of time a new genre emerged with the intention of taking over. Sadly, it wasn't the case and New Jack Swing was gone just like that. Virtually invented by Teddy Reily (of Guy, Blackstreet and the upcoming video), we were left with some of the best songs of the time. Panch Posted January 13, 2011 Author Share Posted January 13, 2011 While Janet was apart of that movement, that CD probably isn't completely New Jack Swing. You probably have to find the specific songs that fall under the banner of the genre. A lot of the stuff she was doing back then was soul/r&b/pop/different shit.
