BigChiefSlapaho Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 Max Payne on the Big Screen Here's hoping it doesn't suck! Quote
MyLeakyBucket Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 That reminds me I really gotta complete that game. I'm on the third level and there's all these dudes in balaclavas who are hard as hell. Movie's gonna suck. Quote
The NZA Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 Video game movies...eh. Resident Evil was alright tho, who knows. Gotta pick this one up for PS2 soon, ive herad so much bout the game. Quote
BigChiefSlapaho Posted April 23, 2002 Author Posted April 23, 2002 RockStar games RULES! First GTA then Max... now State of Emergency & more coming... good stuff. Quote
The NZA Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 That's a pretty good resume, hey im movin this to video games if this keeps up. Was State of Emergency any good? I heard many were dissappointed. Quote
JunkerSeed Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Eh. I absolutely love the game but a movie is just plain unnecesary. The whole point of the game is that it already emulates a bunch of movies. If they wanted to make a john woo style action movie, they could go ahead and do that without it being based on Max Payne. Strong characters my ass, the game had a better story than your average action game, but a tough cop that wants revenge after gangsters take out his family is not the strongest, most original concept in the world. There is no reason for them to call the movie "Max Payne" other than to rake in extra money. The exact same movie could be made without the license. Plus they hired some random guy who produced a couple of TV shows? Looks like a winner... It'll probably be decent simply because it's just not that hard to make a good mindless action movie, especially with the billion dollars they'll thorw at it. Quote
MyLeakyBucket Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Problem is as well. In the game "bullet time" is a highly original new feature but in movies its been done,(see: The Matrix). Plus I agree with Junk. The story is not exactly original but in the game it works because of the cool graphic art images for the cut-scenes. Can't see it working. Quote
Guest Yahve Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Love that game, its actually the last game ive finished. No wait a min, ive beaten Diablo 2 as well. Oh well its still up there among my favourite games. Currently working on Freedom Force and Lemmings Revolution. Movie eh? It's gonna suck unless they use a really good actor and blow a ton of money on it. Serioiusly tho, in order for the movie to have any kind of success, it needs to revolve around something. The action, the story has all been done before.... Im thinking along hte lines of Gone in 60 seconds and centering on changing weapons every ten minutes. Big scenes for every weapon change, make the public fall in love with the guns much like Gone in Sixty Seconds made people drool over cars.... why am i htinking about this shit, the movie isnt gonna do this and its going to suck nuts :( Quote
MyLeakyBucket Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Envious you've finished it. I'm having a bit of trouble. Bit embarassing but the last game I finished was 'Prince of Persia' on the Amiga 500. Not much of a gamer as you can probably guess. It will inevitably suck many nuts, but I'm gonna pray. Is the ending cool by the way. Don't wanna know but I'm expecting a nice twist. Maybe like him killing his own wife or something while wasted on Valkyr. Quote
Reverend Jax Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Yeah, i don't think video game movies have a good chance at being decent, but they should go ahead and make them. If we get 1 Final Fantasy for every 50 Double Dragons (shutter) then it would be worth it. I'd like to see a Zelda movie done with the kind of care and attention to detail and overall good film making of LOTR. That would rule. I think Nintendo got nervous after Mario. Quote
