“Rammlied”

Starts out very beautiful, then the guitars and drums come in... Very epic. The vocals/harmony on this are very awesome. Sends chills down my spine, as well as puts goosebumps on my arms. A great opening to the album! As well as the perfect addition for a 'B' Side on the "Pussy" single... (although in my opinion an unreleased track, or at least one of the 'bonus' tracks should have been added to the single in addition... but I'll take what I can get!) A very "Rammstein" song, lol. If you've heard the new album at all, you'll know what I mean by this. An album or two has one. (Herzeleid: 'Rammstein', most notably, and Reise, Reise: 'Stein Um Stein', etc...). The soft, melody/harmony repeats throughout with the chorus, but gives you the metal you long to hear. A perfect mix. Christoph's drums shine through, along with Till's vocals. The acoustic guitars near the end add to it, and top it off. Such a great blend of sound and use of instruments. Very awesome.

"Ich Tu Dir Weh"

Love the lyrics and the chorus... really, the whole song in its entirety is great. One of favorites early on in listening to the album. My German isn't that good to understand everything right off just yet; I have to rely on lyric translations at first, but it's an amazing song that anyone can enjoy, whether you are fluent or don't understand a word! The beginning has a very nice keyboard opening (I assume this is Flake's work, haha. A very nostalgic sound to me personally, then the guitar/drums come in... Good stuff! A great beat to tap your foot or nod your head to. The lyrics are dark, but once the chorus comes in, you can't help but sing along, even if you don't share the same dark state of mind.

German-

"Ich tu' dir weh.

Tut mir nicht Leid!

Das tut dir gut.

Hör wie es schreit!"

English-

"I hurt you

I’m not sorry

It does you good

Listen to how it screams!"

Very 'painful', but so catchy that even the most nicest or kind of heart can't help but be dragged into this world...

German-

"Du bist das Schiff, ich der Kapitän

Wohin soll denn die Reise geh'n?

Ich seh' im Spiegel dein Gesicht

Du liebst mich denn ich lieb' dich nicht"

English-

"You are the ship, I’m the captain

Where should this journey go

I see your face in the mirror

You love me because I don’t love you"

I don't even know what to say about this further. It's very amazing. Rammstein wins, once again!

"Waidmanns Heil"

Hunter's Salute, indeed... Hunting game not for fun, but for sex... A very nice "double entendre" that is more straight foward than it is more-so at hinting. Of course I love anything that has to do with Rammstein and sex (see "Pussy" later on), but they do it so tastefully in this song that it is just so enjoyable! Not only is it catchy, but I cannot stress how great the wordplay is.

"Haifisch"

This starts off with a very 80's rock feel (and some guitar strums have a sort of barely country sound), but instead of being campy or stupid, it adds to the magic. Such a great choice of sound. The lyrics are great, once again, and I'm sure I'm reading too much into it, but I feel this song possibly conveys their three year hiatus, and how they are glad to be back together as a band/"family", performing for themselves and the fans:

German-

"Wir halten die Augen offen,

wir halten uns den Arm;

sechs Herzen, die brennen -

das Feuer hält euch warm"

English-

"We keep our eyes open

We hold each other by the arm

Six hearts that burn

The fire keeps you warm"

Till once again shows his wonderful wordmanship, and the music just compliments this amazing-ness. Especially at the end with the guitar picking. (I'm going to stress here that I play piano and no other instrument, so I'm going off what I know musically and instruments that I'm not familiar with, but I assume that it's guitar picking... sorry if I'm mistaken

“B******” (Bückstabü)"

According to Richard Z. Kruspe, “B********” does not stand for “Bastard”, but for “Bückstabü”, a word made up by the band to mean “whatever you want”

Very metal, very hard, and very Rammstein. I love it. When Till shouts "Bückstabü", I really feel I can do whatever the fuck I feel and please. The world is mine! A song to crank up in the car.

To me this song says "There is two sides to every coin, every opinion, every question... one must win out, and one will persevere. This again could be me reading too far into things and taking it literal, but that's how I feel. At some point you must choose, go with your gut, or go with what you think is right. Believe in your feelings and opinions, no matter how much you want to argue within yourself. "Whatever you want", indeed.

"Frühling In Paris"

From I've seen around the internets, there are some who love this song, and others who hate it with a passion. They sample a line from a Edith Piaf song “Non, je ne regrette rien” "(which came out in the 1960s and was (and still is) hugely popular in France." - according the website I'm getting the lyrics and translations from), but I've never heard of Edith Piaf, and personally I enjoy the softer song. It's not the softest of there's that I've heard, but I think it's a nice change for the ears. The lyrics are simple and enjoyable, and I find it to be quite a lovely song and addition to the album. Once more this shows off Till's voice.

"Wiener Blut"

A very "Dark" song, and a little disturbing, but a great sound non-the-less. Once again, it delivers on sound and lyric...

German-

"Seid ihr bereit?

Seid ihr soweit?

Willkommen in der Dunkelheit

In der Dunkelheit

In der Einsamkeit

In der Traurigkeit

Für die Ewigkeit

Willkommen in 'ne Wirklichkeit"

English-

"Are you ready?

Are you still there?

Welcome…to the darkness!

To the darkness!

To the lonliness

To the sadness

For eternity

Welcome to reality"

-and-

German-

"Keiner kann hier unten stören

Niemand, niemand darf uns hören

Nein, man wird uns nicht entdecken

Wir lassen uns das Leben schmecken

Und bist du manchmal auch allein

Ich pflanze dir ein Schwesterlein

Die Haut so jung, das Fleisch so fest

Unter dem Haus ein Liebesnest"

English-

"No one can disturb us down here

No one, no one can hear us

No one will discover us

We let ourselves taste the life

And (because) you are sometimes alone

I plant you a little sister

The skin so young, the flesh to tight

Under the house, a love nest"

...but I can't help but think about Josef Fritzl a little bit... Just a little bit. I'm thinking this was intentional, and being a well known story/case, I'm led to believe this is along the same vein as Mein Teil regarding Armin Meiwes

"Pussy"

The first song released, as a single, along with Rammlied as the B-side. The video caused quite a stir, and myself being very open, as well as a lover of Rammstein, I thought this was the best thing ever. Silly, but in a very intended way, obviously! If you're not a usual Rammstein fan, you might think "WTF? This is weird, silly, and maybe even kind of stupid. but pr0n ftw (or ftl)!" Guys, this is pure Genius. The song and video combo is just GREAT. Face it, if you never really listened to Rammstein before, chances are at some point you have or will hear about this video just for the simple fact that it's so racy. It's catchy, upbeat, and before you know it you're humming it in your head and telling all your friends about it, showing the videos at group get togethers or parties, etc...

I think the weaving of commonly known German companies/words/phrases/whathaveyou into the lyric is just awesome. The puns are the best part, not to mention the fact that Till is sexy on all levels when singing 'pussy' and 'dick-ah', haha.

The 70-esque porn inspired video will leave an impression in your head when you listen to this song. You'll see it in your head as you're listening to it, and no matter what you will not be able to 'unsee' it, haha. The roles are great for each of the members (in order of appearance):

Till - Playboy

Christoph - CEO

Paul - Cowboy

Olli - Mr. Pain

Richard - Partyboy

Flake - Heeshie (lulz

Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way, haha. Perfect role assignments, in my opinion.

The song is X-rated, the video takes it to the next level, but you know, I'm quite happy with it.

At any rate, it's hard to talk about this song without referencing the video, which means it won on all levels, whether you like it or not.

VIDEO HERE ---> Had to be hosted on a porn site. NSFW or Shared computers. It's porn, guys, haha. Very expertly done, however. (Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who also directed Mann Gegen Mann).

"Liebe ist für alle da"

The title track does not disappoint. Of course, every song I'm going to love as my person opinion, but this track really does the album good. The message is "Love is there for everyone". As Flake said "It is a human right". If you are human, no matter what what has happened or what you've done, there is love for you somewhere at some point, whether or not you've done good or bad, physical or emotionally...There is some sort of love available to you. You have a right, and it is available to you no matter what. Even the worst, most evil of people have a right to love somehow. I don't view this as the best song on the cd, but it's still tops.

"Mehr"

As much as we don't want to admit it, we all want more. Whether it's for greedy purposes, or purely innocent means, we all want more out of something or someone. Physical, monetary, or psychologically. We want MORE. You can claim to be content, but honestly the point of living is to make something worthwhile for yourself while you're here, and you want to reach some sort of goal, therefore you want more, in my personal opinion. The lyric Till sings sounds greedy at first listen/read, but when you think about it, it's not so much greedy as it is... well, you know. I think this has a deeper meaning that seeps into you the more you listen to it.

Musically, this starts in a mix between medium and heavy, graduates to a heaver feel, goes back and forth between those two for a bit, then goes off on a lighter note, before coming back to the heaviness before ending abruptly shouting MEHR... Overall very melodic, in a good way. A great way to show off his vocal talents, as well as the band's musical qualities. This would have have made a great ending track for the album, if they hadn't included Roter Sand, which brings me too:

"Roter Sand"

The song in it's entirety is very beautiful, and sad... A love song, or at least that's how I view it. It opens up with a whistling sound, which is perfect. On the softer side, and a perfect ending to the album. It reminds me a lot of 'Nebel' (Off Mutter), and 'Ohne dich' (Off Reise, Reise).

You could view as him protecting/preserving her life, as he loves her so much, or that he's being selfish and finding solace in death, but either way I feel that he's giving her the ultimate gift and show of love: his life, and the willingness to die.

German-

"Roter Sand und zwei Patronen

Eine stirbt in Pulverkuss

Die zweite soll ihr Ziel nicht schonen

Steckt jetzt tief in meiner Brust"

English-

"Red sand and two cartridges

One dies in a kiss of gunpowder

The second which should rest in her as a target

Now sticks deeply in my chest"

If it couldn't get any more sad or beautiful, you listen to the Orchestral version and it just hits you even harder. It's executed very well.

+++++++++++++++++

That's all I have to say for now. Sorry if things seem jumbled or confusing, but this is my first real try at reviewing, and if you know me, then you know this album must mean a lot to me to sit here for hours listening to it to bring you my personal views on it, haha.

I know it's a lot to read, and I hope you enjoyed it :2T:

Paul and Flake on RadioEins

Hiya gang -- here are some highlights of Paul and Flake's 2-hr radio interview that was on German radio tonight:

-- The next video will be Ich Tu' Dir Weh, also directed by Jonas Ackerlund (it took them 3 months to come up with the concept)

-- The LIFAD leak: Paul said that someone stole stuff from his computer and leaked it.

The band did not find that funny.

-- Flake's wife Jenny did the whistling on Roter Sand

-- Paul didn't like the way the Pussy video came out

And...oh yeah....;)

USA TOUR IN FALL 2010!!!!

Lyrics from www.herzeleid.com

German (English Below):

Wir halten zusammen

Wir halten miteinander aus

Wir halten zueinander

Niemand hält uns auf

Wir halten euch die Treue

Wir halten daran fest

Und halten uns an Regeln

wenn man uns regeln lässt

Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen

Und die laufen vom Gesicht

Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser

so die Tränen sieht man nicht

Wir halten das Tempo

Wir halten unser Wort

Wenn einer nicht mithält

dann halten wir sofort

Wir halten die Augen offen

Wir halten uns den Arm

Sechs Herzen die brennen

Das Feuer hält euch warm

Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen

Und die laufen vom Gesicht

Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser

so die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam

Und so manche Zähre fließt

Und so kommt es dass das Wasser

in den Meeren salzig ist

Man kann von uns halten

was immer man da will

Wir halten uns schadlos

Wir halten niemals still

Und der Haifisch...

In der Tiefe ist es einsam

Und so manche Zähre fließt

Und so kommt es dass das Wasser

in den Meeren salzig ist

Und der Haifisch...

English:

We hold together [1]

We put up with each other

We stick together

No one will slow us down

We remain loyal to you

We stand by that

We follow the rules

if we are allowed to rule

And the shark, it has tears [2]

And they run down its face

But the shark lives in the water

so no one sees the tears

We keep up the pace

We keep our word

If one (of us) isn't keeping up

we stop right away

We keep our eyes open

We hold each other by the arm

Six hearts that burn

The fire keeps you warm

And the shark, it has tears

And they run down its face

But the shark lives in the water

so no one sees the tears

In the depths it is lonely

And so many a tear flows [3]

And that is why the water

in the seas is salty

They can think whatever

they want about us

We keep each other harmless [4]

We will never stop

And the shark...

In the depths it is lonely

And so many a tear flows

And that is why the water

in the seas is salty

And the shark...

[1] The song uses the verb "halten" in may different ways (prefixes, etc.) that cannot all be translated with the same verb in English so most of the repetition is lost in translation.

[2] The chorus was inspired by the song "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer" ("Mack the Knife") from the Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera) by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill.

Part of the original song:

Und der Haifisch, der hat Zähne

Und die trägt er im Gesicht

Und MacHeath, der hat ein Messer

Doch das Messer sieht man nicht

And my translation:

And the shark, it has teeth

And it wears them in its face

And MacHeath, he has a knife

But no one sees the knife

[3] "Zähre" is an archaic word for "tear", even more closely related to the English word than the usual German word, "Träne".

[4] "Schadlos halten" is legal terminology that means "to hold harmless", "to indemnify", and so on, but that doesn't seem to fit here.
