  1. Not heard of The Coupling myself???? MLB? Judge? Andy? You know it?
  2. Don't want to sound like a salesman but you should get hooked up for Sky Digital, only £49 to install and £16 a month gets you all the channels bar premium.....forget a half-hour programme, imagine 24-hour rock/alternative on MTV2, virtually ad-free!!
  3. Just saw this with Soldier of Fortune and my brother, same likes and gripes as everyone else has mentioned, **slight spoiler** some bits were cheesy like the couple of wrasslin' moves, tho the meaty elbow drop from across the room was pretty cool. **slight spoiler** Acting was good all round, surprised to see pretty-boy (tho not in the movie) Luke Goss do so well as Nomak, same goes for Danny John-Jules, best known for playing the Cat in Red Dwarf (Americans probably have no idea what I'm talking about now)!! One thing though, Irish vampire 'Priest' looked a hell of a lot like 2000AD's Irish hitman Sinister Finnigan, the characterisation was the same and all: Plus I think the name was a nod to Preacher, which had an Irish vampire as a main character.
  4. Promethea - read the first trade, a little confusing but good, just getting into it when I ran out of trade. Top 10 and Tomorrow stories grabbed my attention more. Barry Ween - read BW 2.0, the second collection, funny as hell, lots of movie references. Gave Soldier of Fortune a lend too, he loved it. New one being sold in singles now, gonna wait for the trade tho.
  5. I'd normally use: Defense, 'reflect damage' and 'reflect magic' unless there's some pretty powerful attacks that risk killing you. Offense, 'absorb magic'/'heavy shot' combo, then use the gained MP to cast heal. I've got all the chain abilities but I can't remember anything else being as effective.
  6. Half?!! Off that list I've only read (or read part of) Top 10/Tomorrow Stories/Promethea, Authority/Transmet, Barry Ween, 100 Bullets and, of course, Preacher!
  7. As far as I know, no! You catch the link? www.tubcat.com
  8. Forgot to reply on this, how're you getting on, did you go back to this IC? First of all, found out FFX isn't out till fucking July!! As I said before, I think there's FFVI for sale for PS1 with a demo of FFX for cheap, I'll have to look for that! As for weapons, staves are only good for magic casting not physical attacks so being a slash-em-up type of guy I didn't carry any. A lot of them are silver anyway, which you can't combine with Hagane/Iron/Bronze on first play anyway so it's very hard to get a good-stat staff together. A good blunt weapon is the double-handed mace, good range, high damage, good against Undead, didn't use one till 2nd play tho. Weapons on first play: I carried round a one-hand sword for humans/phantoms, good for gem slots, easy to combo and you can use a shield so when you went up against the Elementals (Phantom class) you could put elemental gems to attack and defense. I used a double-handed sword for beasts, no particular reason bar having a big fucking sword like Conan or shit! Plus one of the later ones is a Bastard Sword, broke my heart to have to forge it into another sword! I used the Soul Kiss dagger myself for Undead/Evil, good weapon but being Silver you can't combine that either till second play (unless with other Silver knives which can be found near the Silver workshop late in the game, if you're keeping the dagger I'll tell you where to look). Used a polearm for Dragons, tricky cos when you combine up they vary from edged to piercing but not much of a problem, excellent range. Always carried a crossbow, not for fights but to destroy far away boxes that impeded jumps. Occasionally could be used for fights if you could stay out of an enemies range, rare tho. That's it really, second play I messed around with other types, axes are good but just about the same as the swords, used a double-handed mace a lot... Hope you stick with it! Just wondering what chains do you use, and have you got the hang of it?
  9. Slight correction: From their official site (Idlewild.co.uk): Can you ask them when you see 'em if they'll be playing Ireland? Pleeeease? :dissappointed:
  10. Hey MLB, just caught the tail end of the video for 'You held the world in your arms' on MTV2, man you got to get yourself Sky Digital! It's not up on their site yet. As far as I saw it featured: Speeded up footage of a young couple's day, don't know if there's any story to it, probably not. Roddy Woomble singing on a bus! The band in a pub, also sped up and I think I saw Bob Fairfoull with shoulder-length hair and a quite fetching beard! That's all I know, it's got me even more hyped! Then I looked on their site and they're not playing Ireland on the tour...NOOOOOOOOO!!! :0 When you interview them can you bring them to task! If I want to see them live (and obviously I do) I'd have to pay at least the equivalent of stg£34 to get over to England, that makes the concert pretty steep indeed! :dissappointed:
  11. Death to the Pixies only has songs from the studio albums, Live at the BBC might be good, that's next on my list...
  12. Billy Corgan's got a new band with Jimmy Chamberlain, no longer freelance...
  13. Shit, this fight club homework thing's gonna be harder than I thought!
  14. Just remembered MLB, finally got Battle Royale in England last weekend, Ireland had sold out! Haven't got to watch much of it but I've a week off now and loadsa shit to catch up on. The only dissapointment is it didn't have a Beat Takeshi exercise video! Oh well, I'll just have to loop that scene!
  15. As far as I know David Goyer's gonna write a third Blade movie, don't know when tho.
  16. I'm still gutted that there wasn't an Evil Sect 2, they even left it on a cliffhanger, I finish watching the film with my bro-in-law then he tells me Jet Li won't ever do a sequel!
  17. Never read the Hulk, just saw him as a brainless lug, I'll read some of the free shit...
  18. I second the recommendation, don't wanna spoil anything but Rorshach is one of the greatest comic characters EVER imho. :approve:
  19. Right quick question, is artistic an idiot, you guys know him better but did he not just answer yes then no in this thread? What are you, a fucking gimp?
  20. Eh sorry NCS, didn't think, force of habit. Normally I'd take pictures I use from Amazon or IMDb or stuff, ya know big servers. Sango, don't get too hung up on the fact they're playing soccer matches, that's just a technicality and by the final there's some decent scrapping! Shaolin Team vs Evil Team!!
  21. Surprised that there's not more interest in this one, I thought there were a fair few Pixies fans here! Got Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim on Friday MLB, now I've all their studio albums including the B-Sides album! Got on sale in HMV, for €7.99 (about stg£4.80/$???)!! Fantastic, dunno if it'd be my favorite yet but that's always gonna be hard to chose! Levitate Me is class, must say I've taken likings to Break My Body, Broken Face, Cactus, Tony's Theme and Oh My Golly, I'd already loved everything off 'Death to' as well. Good call bud, I might not have been looking out fr it if you hadn't said it!
  22. This has been out a while in China, my brother-in-law being Chinese first rented it and my brother who was staying at my sisters at the time saw it. He told me about it and I finally got to see it last weekend and I must say it's a pretty good movie!! :approve: A comedy, the story's about a shaolin kung-fu practitioner who's seeking a way to spread the word about shaolin kung-fu. He meets a down on his luck lame ex-football player who trains him and his five brothers to play football. They form a team, and are entered in a prestigious tournament with a 1 million dollar prize which has been won for the last five years by a team managed by the guy who arranged making the ex-footballer lame. The story can lag a little in places and some of the jokes are lost in translation but where the film shines is the matches where, and this has to be seen, the Shaolin team use mystical-type kung-fu moves to play soccer! Done with brilliant special effects, which hard to explain, are not technically fantastic tho good but are used in the best possible ways. To give examples would just spoil the movie so I won't but I urge all deities to check this one out!! IMDB (which gives it 8.1 from 600 votes) says it's out on the 5th of April in the US and the 31st May in the UK, under the name Kung-Fu Soccer.
  23. Inspired by this thread I've just bought Hard Boiled on DVD, uncut and in widescreen!! It'll be the first time for me seeing it in chinese, the dubbed version I saw had shitty voice actors but even so the film shone thru, I'm looking forward to getting to watch it!!
  24. You ARE a fanboy Nick!! Bags and boards?!! HA HA HA HA HA, Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha, ha ha ha ha ha, heh hehhaach heh hoh!! Don't really care which I get, trades are easier to read but I'm pretty impatient so I still get singles as well. Easier to drop poor titles with singles too.
