That shit cracked me up, because, well, I was saying the same ruttin' thing. Any of you into listening to podcasts can pick up The Signal through the iTunes music store or online at www.serenityfirefly.com - It started back in June and has gone through 13 episodes. Generally last about an hour in length and carries like a radio talk show, discussing different elements of the show, podcasting interviews with the cast and crew, highlighting music and dialog from the show and the movie, and even has a section that teaches you a phrase a week from the chinese dialect of the show. For example today I learned "jen duh sh tyen tsai", which means "An absolute genius", featured in The Train Job (Kaylee uses it to describe Mal and his plan to rob the train). It's entertaining and engaging and took up very little space on my iPod, and doens't take but about 1/2 hr to download all the episodes through the iTunes music store (if you use 4.9 or above - the version that recently started supporting podcasting.) Definitely check it out! >can't stop the signal...

the goal is $80M. Now I don't know what the international figures are gonna be - I know Australia gave it $1.7M opening weekend and that's with ZERO advertising. That's just word-of-mouth grassroots efforts by the Aussie Browncoats - you guys RULE! The UK should be getting some pretty good figures though, 'cos from what I'm understanding there's like 20-ft high banners adorning buildings, underground stations, trailers playing everywhere, they're really pushing this flick over there. Elsewhere... who knows. I know in some countries the flick hasn't even been released yet and won't until november, december, even January of 06. DVD sales will soar, too, I'm sure, but being as they're from different production companies, I sincerely doubt that the DVD sales will help push the Big Damn Sequel. 'Course it won't HURT, but at this point I'd rather have someone drop $40 on buying tickets than buying DVDs. Nick, I'm really glad you enjoyed the show and the movie - I had a feeling it would be right up your alley, as I said in your PM. Personally I've never been one to get into scifi OR westerns, OR works by Joss Whedon (sorry Joss) but the bizarre mating of the two themes under Joss' command (his 'unique vision' as the trailers say) made for a show that is VERY easy to get addicted to.

It pains me to know that there are people in the 'Verse that don't get into this series and its movie. But I refuse to give up hope that enough Browncoats will be able to successfully introduce friends and family to Serenity and Firefly that it can continue in some form or another. On that note, now that the Big Damn Movie got made, let's try for a BDT - the Big Damn TRILOGY!

FINALLY got to see Serenity tonight after much drama and trauma. Three words, my lovelies, three words indeed: Oh. My. God. The graphics, the action, the wit, the humor, the language, the shock factor - it was like a breath of fresh air - and then it got kicked violently out of my chest. I have to see it again before I post a real review, but I will say this: Joss out did himself a thousand times over. He really made some ballsy moves with this flick. I've read around the web that people that screened this flick went through a rollercoaster of emotions and left the theater feeling numb. And I have to say those statements are spot-on. I saw it with a newcomer to the 'Verse and she enjoyed it. DJ and I will see it tomorrow night (his first time, my second). I really hope and pray that this movie will go beyond it's $80M ceiling so that we can have more Serenity goodness in the future. Can't stop the signal.

DJ's not lyin'... You thought my "graphic fanatacism" was bad before? Let's take count: 1) I bought a Blue-Sun tee shirt (gotta wash it ... again ... and once the other issues of the comic come in the mail I'll take some photos) 2) I started two fanfics (that I have not and probably will never finish and no you can't read them because they're humiliatingly bad) 3) I went nuts and bought all 3 variants of all 3 issues of the comic 4) I have the theme song on my iPod and in my iTunes list on regular rotation 5) I have a "SERENITY" countdown widget on the computer 6) I use common phrases from the show (ex. "Hey Jess, how you doin today?" "Shiny, you?") 7) *looks around* oh yeah, the Firefly theme for Hondos. Can't forget that. ...Yeah, I'm an unabashedly obsessed dork. Sadly I don't think I'll be getting the action figures. the Mal figure is "eh" and the Jayne figure just looks retarded - Doesn't look anything like Adam Baldwin and the expressions are just stupid.

The Deej and I are gonna try to hit up AMC Pleasure Island up at Disney on Friday night since we're gonna be up there anyway, because I sincerely can't wait much longer for Serenity. But, I definitely want to go see it with a big group of fellow Browncoats. I'm generally available on weekends, as is DJ. So ya'll work out your schedules and lemme know, and I'll make the trip. *nod*

I'd love to do it this weekend except 1) I have a special-needs kitty I'm babysitting and 2) we're probably gonna have a funeral to attend, which was obviously unexpected. So we won't make it for the premiere but maybe a re-viewing is in order next week? We'll keep ya posted.

Mal definitely knows how to hold his own. He's a lot smarter than he is strong and he uses that to his advantage. Like in the "Train Job" episode, the guy in the bar starts talking shit about the Browncoats being a bunch of no good cowardly pisspots who all deserve to die. Mal says "Say that to my face" and puffs all up like he's gonna stir things up, and instead of Mal getting his ass handed to him, Zoe sneaks up and plants the butt of her sidearm in the guy's forehead. "I just wanted you to face me so she could get behind you. *SMACK*. Classic.

*takes a bow* Seriously? I've *NEVER* been so into a show as I am with Firefly. I don't know what it is about it, but I'm glad that my "graphic fanatacism" helped to convert another soul to a highly underappreciated series.

it'd be a bit big in size but you could make the canvas size either 800x600 or 1024x768 (average native res.). In photoshop all you'd have to do is open the image, stretch the CANVAS (not image) size to whatever rez you want, then paint the remaining background black. I'd do it right now but I just rolled out of bed.

Hm... This will be challenging. Myspace's layout makes it difficult to have a large image as a background without having some kind of conflict. By themselves the image AND your myspace are pretty kickass. But together they're going to pose a problem. I knocked down the saturation on your background and tested it against some white text, but in the live environment of Myspace, with the table boxes and such, it may still not work. Part of the problem your page faces right now is that people post images like they're going out of fuckin' style on MySpace comments. Something to maybe try is to take the image I redid and make it into a static background. Also, take off the white background in your tables, and make the table border width zero. Finally, ake all your text and make it white, as I've found that shows up best over this image. Obviously play with it to make it your own layout. lemme know if I can do anything else for ya.

If you want I can knock down the brightness, make it darker so that white shows up better, it might help.

I use "gorram" and "shiny" a lot, though I have to say ta ma de (the chinese characters won't work on the board, i don't think) which loosely means "fuck me blind!" (exasperation) and wo de ma ("mother of God!") have to be my favorites so far. And let it be known, DJ suggested that we call the car Vera. I just happened to agree with him ;)

I was skeptical of it at first because I wasn't a fan of Joss' other creations, but when I started watching, I realized that I was being silly and that it was a fantastic show. I'm now incredibly upset it's off the air, but, on the same note I'm glad they're making it into a movie. Needless to say I was instantly obsessed. DJ will attest to this. We finished the series in a few days time, and since then, I've been all about the Firefly stuff. I bought a "Blue Sun" tee shirt, and take delight in saying things like "a mite whimsical in the brainpan", "No power in the 'Verse can stop..." and making comments laden in chinese (translations compliments of the Firefly Pinyinary). I have the theme song on my iPod. I want to try to find an animation of the burn-through "Firefly" logo, and God help me I want to make/get a window decal that either has the chinese symbol for "Serenity" and/or one that says "can't take the sky from me". And I know it's 26 days until Serenity. *waits not so patiently* [/geek]
