Welp just got through the credits, and I've already got money spent on the next game. This is how you sequel.

How many hours did you spend? It feels like a bloody huge game and if it's not not on the switch I barely get time to play.

  2. Played a few hours so far and it maintains the pace of the previous games' combat while making the fights feel more personal with the close up Cam.

I'll put a gameplay video of the first boss fight up on the hondos group PS page for anyone on the fence.  If you notice my gameplay is spuds McKenzie I'm blaming the religious holiday I'm observing(and it ain't Hitler's birthday).

The aforementioned cap feel comes from the blocking/parrying shield mechanic combined with throwing the leviathan axe(with dedicated recall input) - complete with satisfying haptic feedback when it lands back in your hand.

In hindsight the mechanic is more fitting to Thor and mjolnir but the pacing of combat feels more cap than powerhouse Thor.

There's not a lot to spoil so far,  Story wise but the slow trickle of info is fine and building plenty of intrigue. If you notice my early impressions are spuds McKenzie I'm blaming the religious holiday I'm observing(and it ain't Hitler's birthday).

  3. The way Nintendo puts out digital content followed by more expensive cartridges has toyed with my emotions enough.  I've previously been all about that shelf of games but convenience and price point have swayed me to primarily digital collecting.

I have a decent memory card and still intend to buy bigger games on cart because retailers are more competitive on price,  and something like say doom would take up too much real estate on my sd card,  but I'm done agonising over buying smaller titles and worrying whether they're going to get a cart release later.

  4. Another latecomer,  I watched the whole season on one of the bajillion hour flights I was just on and loved it.

Apparently season 2 is streaming on sbs(au's version of the gov't foreign channel)  but of course the app just got pulled from the PS store.  You all on the other hand can probably watch it for free from a desktop with a vpn.  Search for sbs on demand.

  5. I'm keen. The three(moreso Cap'n Spaulding, according to so many tattoo'd shins and biceps) have teetered on the edge of Horror icon status for a while. The third movie(whether it was always planned or is a cash in) is a logical progression from Hype and Spectacle(1000 corpses) to behind the scenes and legitimately humanising in parts(Devil's Rejects).

As it seems clear that this is their ascent to Jason/Myer/Freddie level immortality, and I've gotten invested enough to watch two origin movies, keen.

  6. Man there is so damned much under the hood of Stardew Valley it's a little off-putting at the change of seasons.

See what the price on the store is at the moment(for GS) because the E-shop has some crazy deals going.  It's ocker AF and has some genuine depth to the gameplay.

  7. It was meant to submit the Nintendo switch as a serious choice because that's what I'm allll about

And have you held a PS4 controller as opposed to a PS3? Same layout but so much more comfy, isolated speaker contributes to immersion of play the same way the Wiiu gamepad did but not as clumsy.

In terms of exclusives Sony's the move, man. Last of Us, Spiderman, that one from those guys who did that other thing....

I don't think a pro's necessary for anything because my understanding is that it's a very spartan 'upgrade' and is still spacker in the ways that matter(Destiny 2 was chopped at the knees because the Pro couldn't keep up with the X1X), and buying into VR is probably still a bit dicey for my money. But you can fill your boots.

I have a Xbox and it works fine, the games are fine, but brother you know I love my switch.

I suggest also looking at the subscription services for each(you get two 'free' games a month) because that's gonna keep you engaged between big launches.

Another factor would be, how much content did you purchase digitally on 360? Because MS have been great about backward support so a lot of stuff can be redownloaded on your Xbone(along with saves).

Sorry this was way longer than expected.

  8. The ambition-especially for what appears to be a first crack at vr integration on that robot kit(also good on them for figuring out how to move more copies of arms) - reminds me so much of the Wii's marketing.

I'm dead keen on picking up at least the variety kit.  Til and I play with a lot of duplo(baby Lego)  together and this might be the gentle nudge into video games I've been looking for.

  9. Thanks for the Heads up Nemo!

I see your point about HD ports detracting from new game development, but I'm like a kitty in a sunbeam enjoying all the fruits of the proto-Switch's labour, and there are a lot of people in my position.

You and the possibly less than dozen like-minded folks who still support the Wiiu are the MVP's who basically pre-alpha tested my hardware and now it's pre-made library though, so thank you for your service.

  10. Not being familiar with the title(smash bros)   does it use both sets of bumpers up top?  Cause it could be that they're optimising controls for single joycon use maybe?

And of course it's going to bank which means they're probably saving that for a rainy day, marketing misstep or Reggie getting fingered in some #metoo sordidry.

If Hyrule warriors is dw style I'm all over that!  The box art made it look like a 3d fighter.
