Just got out of Upgrade. This is seriously the best Venom movie we could hope for right now guys. Just pretend Stem is the Symbiote and Logan Marshall Green is Tom Hardy. It fucking works.

I was shocked to discover that infact wasn't Tom Hardy, and just figured he was putting all his eggs in the 'augmented physiology with a side of Siri' basket.

  2. Man, Hyrule Warriors is fuuuuuuuunn.  I've loved the dynasty warrior series since day dot but the recent entries were getting convoluted so I haven't been dazzled by one in a while.

Here's a funny thing.  All through the switch game drought last year,  I saw copies of fire emblem warriors and assumed it was a JRPG.  Finding out I could have been playing that this whole time instead of rolling the dice on e-shop titles make me feel like a right fucking goose.

    he's a bum

he got me into ninja scroll/anime though, from an old wizard interview so there's that...i was a fan of his x-men work

    still a bum

Because he ignores deadlines or some other reason?

Fun fact- one of those Wizard appearances showed his office, with his 64/Saturn/PS set up and that was my inspo for the first Fortress.

  4. Oh I forgot to mention there in my Leto apology that there's no reason whatsoever for a Joker solo movie. I mean I understand the idea behind a HQ joint project because it's taking easy money from suckers, but an origin film ruins whatever mystique the character has left.

Pre-Flashpoint is a good opportunity for DC to get experimental IMO. Maybe some low-budget projects to just see what sticks to the wall, and learn from that moving beyond the reset.

What'd you guys think of the laugh? I thought it was adequate.

  5. Golly I wish I had some entrance music like a wrestler because HEEEERE COMES JAY WITH SOME UNPOPULAR MOVIE OPINIONS!

I liked Leto's Joker because he brought a theatrical aspect lacking from non-animated iterations, and he was scary in that unhinged meth addicted friend of a friend who's in your yard or something similar(a juggalo I guess), which in fairness is the scariest kind of clown this side of Pennywise.

It sucks that his likeness was coopted by a bunch of really tragic people, or that he coopted their likeness.

  6. The hubbub I've heard and read is 'survival sim/base building', which in keeping with mythos and timeline, would make sense.

I'm still hopeful a New Vegas port comes to Switch.

  7. That was the best example of marketable fan service I've seen in a while or maybe ever.  Mostly I think they traded jokes for world-building/tethering to other properties and of course I was more than okay with that.

what I loved was seeing an x-force team that covered literally every era of the book.  Highlights for the fan boy in me were Zeitgeist's insta-death and the uncanny x-force black costume.  The post credit was a bloody hoot.

And the two second shot of the x-men proper,  hiding from the neighbourhood pest was masterful.

  8. Dumb protagonists ALWAYS ruin serviceable horror.  One day I'd love to see a film from the perspective of a slasher where dummies are the villains.

All of the quiet place spoilers within

Pedro nailed it with the waterfall.  I mean,  an hour into this sumbitch and I'm thinking any means of creating a constant sound like running water,  would keep these fucking things at bay(off the top of my head,  an irrigation system or,  and I grant you this would be tricky but dropping an interconnected system of rusty chains,  constantly moving would serve the same purpose.

And do let's talk about the logic of distributing news papers with industrial machinery to notify everyone that the things are attracted to sound.  Or how none of the dozens of ways in which sound has already been weaponised, has been tried against these things.

Also I feel like using torchlight to communicate in the dark should be day one shit. Would have made that last section a lot less harrowing.

And I say this as a parent,  but that four year old who couldn't get with the program after three months(an eternity to a kid)  bloody deserved to die. Alright that was over the line.

Honestly we saw the dumbest,  hammed up death since Anakin's mum,  and ending it with the cocked shotgun...

Axel framed it up best by comparing it to a dumb monster movie,  and in that field it excelled.  I was looking forward to something quasi-silent that supposedly used sound in a really inventive way(paraphrased from a review).

    One more thing:

IF MOUTH NOISE IS NOW REDUNDANT,  TRY COVERING YOUR FUCKING FACES WITH KERCHIEFS OR SOME SHIT.  ALSO MAYBE START KNITTING SOME NINJA BOOTIES IN BETWEEN MOBILES FOR YOUR BABY COFFIN YOU FUCKS.

And PS : apparently cicadas, nature's crazy frog,  survived the event.  They could be of use maybe?!

    http://snesclassicmods.com/how-to-add-more-games-to-snes-classic-mini/

There's the modding tutorial. It's almost deliberately easy. I added Chrono Trigger, DKC 2 and 3, Final Fantasy 2(4) and Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I need to find an english FF5. You can also mod it to play non snes games, but I havent figured that out yet.

As for an N64 mini, I'd like Pokemon Snap honestly. Its stupid, but I have alot of fun wih that game. Microsoft doesn't seem too stingy with it's Rare titles, so if Nintendo plays nice then Goldeneye might be a possibility. I wouldnt hold my breath for the Banjo games though since MS has those remakes. (Edit: I missed your Rare remarks Baytor)

If Nintendo has to work out how to play nice with rare properties or vice versa, that's an encouraging precedent for some of those titles to get sequels on Switch. Also while I'm voicing unrealistic dreams, how fucking good would a Viva Pinata game on Switch be?

  10. That's flippin' amazing.

    Infinity spoiler

Megz and I were talking about it last night and she reckons team dust are trapped in the soul stone,  leaving team corporeal to actually fight thanos and therefore probably perma-die(looking specifically at Tony and Steve here).

Her logic is that all the people trapped in the soul stone will return at the point of conclusion.  Man what a fantastic difference her dating a proper comic nerd makes to our banter now.

how would you work around zemo already being used/locked up? i don't expect you can pull off the bait-and-switch the book did in a film, but it feels like a bummer leaving out the OG team

(this really has bugger all to do with infinity war so I'll ditch spoilers so we're not catfishing people into thinking we're discussing anything relevant)

Zemo is only imprisoned.  There's escape or even release for services rendered.  Sure suicide squad is still fresh in everyone's mind but a govt sponsored super team made up to look like an anti-reg(or sorkovian accord)  bunch of rag taggers not only echos themes and allusions to the secret empire from age of ultron and winter soldier.

But that defeats my intention to lighten things up.  Taika Waititi on a superior foes movie,  any time would be a solid gold hit.  Hopefully Ant Man fills that purpose.

  12. So Joel was officially the first person to throw up a specific spoiler for infinity war on my section of social media.

That being said I consider any dissipation meme spoilerish.

Now that some folks have seen the flick I can elaborate.

holy shit,  what a bloody film.  More than makes up for what I found lacking in civil war.

I was talking to a mate about a mock-up movie schedule he found that included thunderbolts and thought,  how good would a thunderbolts intro story(villains capitalising on a complete absence of heroes by pretending to be heroes)  but executed in the style of superior foes of Spiderman- set in between infinity wars as a palate cleanser?

  13. Well Labo is pretty great.

The cardboard is thin and not very durable,  but the construction is all double folding and interlocking so the final product can take a licking(my kid has been hammering the piano and when she's not doing that,  she's fishing). The fishing game especially is very tactile and the sorta thing I could see myself pulling out at least once a month.

The instructions are clear but slow(it took me a minute to figure out how to speed it up) and the software is deceptively rich.

I don't know that I'll go in on the robot kit as intended because I don't know that the quality build of small items in the variety pack would translate to the box and string setup.

If anyone's interested I can put up some pics of the construction process as well as my kid quality testing the final products.

Side note : aside from a brief interest in Odessy a couple of weeks ago,  this is the first game she's gone all in on.  I've waited so long for this(my kid gaming)  and couldn't be happier of prouder.
