alive she cried Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I know someone has probably done this already, Jax most likely. But maybe I've included some different choices (I'm pretty sure I have). I coulda put in many more, but I figured 15 was enough. anywho my choice is "Bold As Love" the instrumental off the box set. I think this is the greatest piece of post Beethoven music.
Reverend Jax Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I'm a big fan of If 6 Was 9, Are You Experienced?, Crosstown Traffic, Manic Depression and a whole buttload of song you omitted. I also think Fire has Mitch Mitchell's finest drumwork, putting Keith Moon to shame. And you kow somebody's gonna complain about Foxy Lady not being on there. I'm gonna think about it, then edit the poll to add my choice so I can vote for it.
alive she cried Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 I know everyone of those was nearly included, but I decided to be selfish and choose my favourite 15
Iambaytor Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Wasn't All Along the Watchtower origionall done by Bob Dylan? Oh, and I'll be the person to complain about Foxy Lady.... ready? Why isn't Foxy Lady on there?
the division of joy Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 out of bob dylan dedication, watchtower gets it for me.. both versions are incredible...
alive she cried Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 many of these songs were'nt written by hendrix. i just chose my favourite songs that he performed. just so you know, catfish blues, sunshine of your love, (I'm your) hoochie coochie man, Johnny B. Goode, Hey Joe and All along the watchtower were not written by hendrix.
Iambaytor Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Well then in all technicality Wild Thing could have been included on this list? I gotta say I like his version of that song better than any of the covers and better than the origional by The Troggs. Anyhow, I think I'll vote for hmm... I like a lot of these but I'm really tempted to vote for Purple Haze or Voodoo Child...
alive she cried Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 wild thing was'nt included because it's not in my top 15 favourites, not because it's a cover. although it too is a classic
Reverend Jax Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I like Springsteen's version of Wild Thing, never heard Hendrix's. I can imagine though. Springsteen does the best version of War, though.
