  1. *me at work last night*

    me (to new co-worker): hey is there anyway you can get your schedule changed to start working sat nights with me, you're a good worker

    new co-worker: you're just saying that because i do the dishes for you

    me: no that's not it...

    new co-worker: you don't even want me to work because i'm a nice guy or anything....

    me: sure i like you, you're a nice guy...a nice guy who does the dishes.....

  2. so, i went to first period today, started having horrible monster cramps and came home.

    yes i have work to do, but procrastination won, so i ended up watching massive amounts of mtv and being on dd

    so around i think 1 pm or so i see Freebird on, i'm all wtf, normally i'd be in leadership class or something, then Def pops up at well, and i'm all "is this a normal everyday occurence? what class are you guys in?" i never get the luxury of coming on DD at school? what are these people at vanden teaching you g uys?

  3. okay a few things ithink nick should know about us (meaning michelle and my) music tastes to maybe explain some of our music tastes/allegiances

    (michelle just chime in if anything i say doesn't fit your beliefs, but i've known you for likr 6 years, and we've had many disscusions about this, so i think we have similar views on this)

    1.) a majority of our hate for mainstream comes from the people at our high school. folks jumpin on the bandwagon cause they saw the patch at hot topic, yes it's their perogative, and i have afew mainstream-er friends, but i think it's kinda lame that you will only listen to something because it's on trl, or the only reason you're listening to it is because it's socially acccepted and liked by the masses, regardless if you actually like the band/singer whatever. it kinda takes away from what the band is about when you have a bunch of preteens liking you because seventeen said it was okay.

    2.) our music tastes are so eclectic, we've been downloading stuff and it's been from 50 cent wanksta, to paul macartney maybe i'm amazed, to eve satisfaction, to tom petty, to le tigre, to suzie quatro. michelle is more of an emo kid if anything and i'm more indie, but pretty much our music tastes differ from genre, i know i don't mind listening to someting new, and neither does michelle, even if it's mainstream, (using michelle's rosa parks example) if it sounds good i'll listen to it, EVEN if it's on trl. (porejemplo john mayer, or even 311, i really dug amber)

    3.) location has somehing to do with it to, since california has a large music scene, when a band we've come to know and love from cali, which we have seen play in small venues, makes it big and forgets about their roots or what they represented in the beginning, it lets down their loyal fans who have been there since the get go. good example, papa roach, they're doing fucking pepsi commercials, now come back home to vacaville and charge $20 a ticket, that shit ain't right in my opinion.

  4. heh, hey michelle remember when i made kung pao chicken and i put peanuts in it and you wouldn't eat it..funny stuff, hey i like nuts,

    anyway my ambrosia would either be lox and bagels...mmmmm (@Noah's bagels, that place rocks)

    or there is this resuraunt chain in the bay area called max's opera house cafe, and they have this thing called a ruben with corned beef, and thousand island dressing on marble rye..mmmmmmmmm

  5. yea we all feel strongly about sellouts/mainstream out here in nor cal, maybe because a lot of bands come out of our scene

    for example, the Donnas, i was listening to the Donna's back in the 7th grade when nobody knew about them, they are from the East Bay (berkeley/sf) area, and everyone ridiculed me for listening to them, because at the time the spice girls or some shit were in,

    so anyone who's listened to the donnas knows that their image is kinda cocky rock n roll chicks who drink, smoke, have sex, blah blah blah, not exactly feminist anthems, but they are a strong, cocky rock n roll band

    fastfoward to 2003, what is this? the Donnas are on MTV, and all of a sudden they've cleaned up their act. no more rants and songs like "40 boys in 40 nights" about fucking guys on the road, no more "we're gonna party like cheech and chong" no! they sold out, cleaned up their image, and now are having slumber parties on the front of their album covers,

    also they changed labels, for a long time they were on Lookout! records which is geared towards more indie bands.

    now i believe they are on RCA or something, i mean, wtf, the donnas which i knew and loved have now fell into mainstream popstardum on trl

    am i dissapointed? hell yea, because a band that i had respect for is now adored by many adolecent girls who liked justin timberlake a month ago, furrchristsakes they are in SEVENTEEN! i mean the band that was so uncool to like back when i dug them is now MAINSTREAM. it's cool they are finally making money i guess, but besides that, i'm purdy dissapointed in the donnas.

  6. so i know we've all done it at one time or another, made a mixed tape for somone (or in modern times, a burned compilation cd) or even made on for ourselves, to fit our given mood, or a compilation of songs from a certain time, or what not, or the popular kind of mix tape, a compilation of songs for a certain person

    so i'm going to pimp out the indie magazine where they shared some celebrity mixed tapes (that i will be using to kick off this thread before i get into my own)

    www.bust.com damn cool magazine, mostly for feminist chicks (hey no rude comments from the peanut gallery) but really cool nonetheless... on par with Bitch

    the first one is by Carrie Brownstein from Sleater-Kinney (and if you don't know who Slater-Kinney is, download them some time)

    Title: The shocking echo of a young pairs in a midnight love.

    1) "Send me a postcard"---> Shocking Blue

    2.) "Keep your hand on the plow" ---> Mahalia Jackson

    3.) "Tell me when my light turns green"--> Dexy's Midnight Runners

    4.) "You"---> Au Pairs

    (i won't go on, but you get the general idea)

    post away

  7. things are looking purdy good for miss leah

    honestly, even though the second semester is going by EXCRUCIATINGLY (is that even a word) SLOW, there have been some high points this week, such as i got hired back @ Baci for ONE DAY A WEEK, exactly what i wanted, PLUS my parents will continue giving me my monthly allowance, so i can save up for anything i want to do after graduation or whatnot...life is looking good..PLUS MY BIRTHDAY IS LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY... i'm so excited...

  8. (maria, michelle, and i driving)

    maria: comon leah, you know if someone special dedicated one of these (meaning sucky ass r&b songs) songs to you, you'd like it... listen to the lyrics

    leah: yeah, i'd be touched

    michelle: see, you like it,

    leah: well, actually i wouldn't like it, i'd pretend to like it, but deep down inside i'd be loathing every minute of some wanky boyz to men ballad dedicated in my honor.

    maria: LEAH!!! you're soooo not romantic...

  9. (me, maria, and michelle in the car last night)

    Maria: let's put in this compilation cd i made

    michelle: okay!

    *O-Town and some other R&B shit comes on*

    Leah: "wtf is this shit? i fucking hate r&b, change it to sublime or something"

    *michelle and maria ignore my cries of pain from the back seat*

    *brian adams comes on, i fucking hate brian adams*

    Leah: *lets out an agonizing scream of pain* "honestly if i hear this "really love a woman" shit i'm going to throw up all over your nicely cleaned car michelle"

    *they change the track, on to elvis's "i can't help falling in love with you" (fools rush in or whatever)

    I am content =)

  10. guess what.... in exactly a MONTH from today (feb 19) i will be legal..

    let the madness begin!

    P.S. i love how IC jacked that from Jesse Elhart's t-shirt... it's like Californication on this board..just can't help but be influenced by our nor-cal ways..before you know it you're going to find yourself saying "hella" (yea nick i never said hella was all me, lol)
