  1. That is exactly what I thought during the whole of watching The Shining... I loved the book, and the movie completely missed the point. As far as King goes, I wouldn't have thought 1408 would be one of his favorites... and I would think that Misery would be up there. Interesting.
  2. I've seen Dr. Strangelove, but it's been awhile. I remember laughing at the end with the arm and the salute... though it reminded me of that episode of Fawlty Towers with the Germans. But 2001 was even worse the second time... because I knew what was really supposed to be going on (mostly at the beginning with the man-apes and the end). When the shot of a spaceship doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING passed the three minute mark, I gave up on the thought of enjoying it. Ugh.
  3. I will give you ONE more chance, Stanley Kubrick. Perhaps 2001 isn't as unwatchable after having read the (wonderful, enjoyable, and APPROPRIATELY PACED) book. Perhaps. If it is still all that I remember, it's over. I'm not even gonna bother with A Clockwork Orange, though I've been curious, being unwilling to face another disappointment from you. I'm serious this time, Stanley. I did the same with David Lynch and Blue Velvet, and it worked. Richard Strauss can't save you. Arthur C. Clarke can't save you. This is the last chance. Over and out.
  4. In honor of her engagement and recent conversion to Judaism. I won't make a joke about Jews and money here. I just think Ivanka is gorgeous... and so does her father. Remember that?
  5. The toll as of now includes the following: David Carradine, Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Billy Mayes, Walter Cronkite and Frank McCourt. Now, McMahon, Cronkite and McCourt were all old as dirt in the middle of summer and as such understandable, and Fawcett had been terminally ill for quite awhile, so the only real shockers were Carradine, Mayes and Jackson (though apparently the people around MJ all had been expecting it, though not enough to take any steps toward preventing it). I'm not sure whether we're just hyper aware of the deaths because a few of them were so high profile, or whether it really is unusual, but all I'm saying is if I were Patrick Swayze I'd be keeping two eyes open and looking over my shoulder right now.
  6. The girl from Donna the Buffalo, really pretty stuff
  7. Just saw this a few hours ago! Loved it. Lots. Rockwell did a really great job, and I thought it was really well paced. Although I love almost anything about space. (With the exception of 2001, but I fault Kubrick for that. And for pretty much everything else of his.) Music was really good too.
  8. Christina Hendricks... one of the few women with really huge breasts that I think is sexy And a natural redhead to boot. I can't decide whether I like her better as Saffron or Joan. Btw, is there a Mad Men thread here? I get sick of searching through pages and pages for things
  9. Ross, I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally like that girl. She has all the things I like in women, she has a pretty face and natural (and really nice) boobs, thin but not skinny, not fake tanned, no extensions or anything, has an ass. Man. I want one. Or two.
  10. This is probably my favorite song on the album and they just released a music video for it. MGMT- Kids Link
  11. Tripping Daisy. I heard they might be getting back together for an album or something!
  12. I totally realized I read your comment and forgot to reply. Me and Cody broke up :-/ It was during your extended leave of absence of the internet, otherwise you would have seen news of it on here. Do you have an AIM screenname? It'd be easier to chat :-P

  13. I went tubing down the Guadalupe this weekend and it was.... a terrible mistake. It was an enjoyable time and all, but being Memorial weekend the douchebag per square foot ratio was just astonishing. "It's three in the morning!! And you're camping! Now stop drinking your terrible beer by the gallon and if you set your speakers that loud and play Hinder or Nickelback or that stupid song about Halley's comet again I'll set fire to your tent!"
  14. Well I think I've had somewhat of a spoiler as far as the end goes. But I don't think a terrible ending could even ruin it for me, I'm really loving it so far.
  15. I just saw In Bruges and really rather liked it. Oh oh oh, and I'm about halfway through Preacher and I totally get it guys. At least ten different kinds of awesome.
  16. I heard this on my Pandora Kings of Convenience station and can't get enough.
  17. Totally team Catholic here. That is, you know, if there were a heaven.
  18. Natalia Vodianova I love her... I had a discussion with a friend over whether she's girl-hot or guy-hot, so I wanted some second opinions. Do you guys find her sexy, or just the girls? Or both? Or neither?
  19. I go through phases with Elliot Smith all the time. I think were a couple of months where I listened to nothing else... XO is my favorite album I think.
  20. It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake. I'm a fan of funfetti But only when it's not a lie.
  21. Zooey Deschanel is fairly unbelievable. It's ridiculous how much prettier she is than her sister Emily. She's married to Ben Gibbard... don't get me wrong, I think he's a great songwriter and all but....How does that make a whole lot of sense? I'm probably gonna get some disagreement here, he's got a certain nerdy charm, but he is not an attractive man. Oh and that Russian redhead was just lovely
