  1. A few died in the movie but they kept it low to not scare off the kids but in the books that go into more detail about it they were taking pretty bad casualties 2-3 for 1 roundabouts.
  2. Christmas kicked ass. Replaced my 14" monitor witha 19" viewable flat screen. Its fuckin huge! and i've got 8 games to test it out on!
  3. Link vs Wonderboy (the one from part three that shapechanges)
  4. All well and good but you can't just teach a medeival culture how to use technology thats a couple of thousand years ahead of them. The Ewoks only won their battle on endor with help from the rebels and the fact that it was a small outpost without reinforcements, even then they took staggering casualties. LOTR & SW are both phenominal movies, easily ranking first for medival fantasy and sci-fi but If i had to choose SW takes my bet. They take down the LOTR army in a spectacular battle and for better Movie. Fanboy faithful to the last...
  5. Right Silent Bob. Jacin and Jaina were the twins and Anakin was her third child. All of whom attend the Jedi academy on Yavin IV. I've read about all the books from "Courtship of Princess Leia" (those hapans have some nice ships!) until the New jedi order books started coming out and I'm missing some of the Xwing series. Just kinda ran outta cash and time after moving to TX. Also have a few SW comics (dark empire was pretty good) and alot of the technical manuals and misc books including the D&D style SW roleplaying books. I'm slowly but surely expanding until I get'em all. I love the SW universe, the tech, everything. Not everybody shares my enthusiasm but I just can't get enough of it. I'm a hardcore fan to the bone.
  6. I gave my vote to Boba because his father was teaching him all his tactics to prepare him for the day he would take over, so boba knows most of his tricks. And also Boba was a very hardcore bounty hunter, much more so than his father. The boy was ruthless in hunting his prey and learned a wealth of skills his father never had. it would be a close fight, and a very good one, but Boba would take the day.
  7. Well I thought that the way they did present Boba's story was very believiable and fairly well done. I for one like all of the books relating to before and after the movies and jsut consider them additions to the Star wars saga. Then again i'm a fairly hardcorefan and hard to displease so I'm probably Biased. Happily biased but biased none the less.
  8. Just thought I'd drop a note about any deviation from the book in the movie. I might be preaching to the choir but if you all already know this then just go make stalactites in the corner till i'm done. The ORIGINAL Book by Toilken was "Lord of the Rings" it was a single volume and was larger than most verbose dictionaries. The original publishers had to convince him to split it into 3 books and ship it as a trilogy. Now Being so large it didnt FIT into 3 books so that is where all the compendiums and histories and beastiaries that bear tolikens name come from. If you put every toliken book in a stack and bind them together you have the TRue manuscript for the Lord of the Rings. So technically the movie makers are following the book more faithfully than anyone could expect. All of it is Tolikens work and from what i heard they painstakingly researched it so that everything was correct with the timeline. (and yes i very gratuitously misspelled toliken probably evey time in here. ahh well.)
  9. Bah, I'm still with Jango. Yeah, samus does have a few goodies I forgot about so it would be a good fight. But Jango can be down right dirty if need be, I can see him hopping on Slave 1 and getting a lil edge on Samus. Ship for Ship I think He'd have her beat, he's got alot more combat experiance in it.
  10. Hey now, granted I don't pony up the cash for too many but I've got a membership at the Irish Comic book depository. I plan on making a good few checkouts soon as I finish the harry potter and Lord of the rings books.
  11. My money's on Jango. He and Samus both have some pretty good gear but you just can't get much better than Mandalorian battle armor. The Mandametal is the only known metallic substance that can resist the focused energy output of a weapon such as a lightsaber and is impervious to blaster fire. In addition, the metal is so dense that it actually can blunt a Force impression through it. No Jedi, Sith, or other Force user can project or receive thoughts through its mass. The only way for samus to take jango down is either finding a seam or soft spot in the armor and stabbing, or bludgeoning him to submission or death. ...Not fookin likely. Specially considering he was regarded as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy at the time, a proficient marksman and unarmed combatant, and covered in a concealed arsenal of weaponry, including retractable wrist blades, a snare, dual blaster pistols and a harnessed jetpack with an explosive rocket could be launched from it. So even without the goodies stashed in that armor its a hell of an advantage. The only reason Obi-wan wasn't killed during that battle is that Jango was trying to leave not fight to the death. Had there been a contract out non him at the time jango would have put up a better fight and nailed him. It took Mace Windu (one of the most skilled jedi masters alive) to take him down on Geonosis, and only after Jango had already killed Several Jedi. Again, hands down jango. Samus would put up an admirable fight but I just can't see her winning.
  12. ...Do we have a secret Cult of the monkey or something that convenes at 6:01 am yahve?
  13. http://media.smilepop.com/smilepop/flash/0...op-soapbox2.swf So there!
  14. Very interesting, Definitely a leap forward in advertising. I'd like to see these at least one per theater, give the consumer in the lobby playing games or munching popcorn waiting in line to seat something interesting to see. Theres alot of potential for these to draw more crowds, There have been plenty of movie posters I've spotted waiting around in line that i was curious about. Heck when me and junker were younger we'd decide on the movie by checking out all the movie posters and seeing what looked best. Something like this would make it much more interesting.
  15. You know what.... THIS ENTIRE MISERABLE FUCKING PLANET CAN JUST EAT A FUCKING DICK! AND FUCKING CHOKE ON IT GODDAMNIT!! ...Thank you.
  16. Well yes and no. As you progress into the story past D-Day you do begin taking orders strictly from the OSS. Certain missions have the covert "bond" feel to them but I never felt like i was playing an overrated bond movie. There are several missions that take place behind Enemy lines but have you linking up with either paratrooper units or pinned down units that made it past the front line. In one mission your basically riding herd on an infantry unit pinned down by snipers. You basically run that level in almost a "sniper duel" taking out enemy snipers while the unit covers you up close clearing buidings as you pass. Very badass level, Very damn hard. In several levels you link up with some 101st airborne paratroopers along with your squad leader to clear a small villiage and take out some artillary and in a later mission other paratroopers that are pinned down by snipers and trying to stop an enemy advance. Another mission (particularly hard) has you linking up with a sherman tank unit and taking them into a german Supply depot to commandeer a King tiger tank. You then proceed with the tank to a key bridge that the germans have wired with explosives and as the tank takes on the various german armor you climb up into a belltower among other high spots and snipe german troops as well as call in air support for the tank until reinforcements can arrive to secure the town. So while some missions (like the submarine one) can give you some bindish flashbacks the majority of the game will retain its wartime combat feel. The expansion pack (spearhead) will focus moreso on the Ardennes (battle of the buldge) and drop in an assortment of british weapons(sten guns, smoke grenades, ect...) So the two together should cover a good bit of out and out open battle. If the small unit type fighting isn't quite what your looking for then it may fall a bit short for you. But with the PC you also have to remember that you've got the online option. Plenty of battles on there either free for all or objective/team based that can have 20+ people fighting it out. So even if the single player is quite what you want, multiplayer can deliver well.
  17. I'm in Bliss! I've owened SW monopoly for awhile now but seldomely get a chance to play because it goes on "forever". But now i've stumbled across an entire line of SW Edition Games that have a definite end and will draw a more regular stream of challengers! LIFE, Stratego and Electronic Battleship!! Are all now assimilated into the Star wars Galaxy! "Thats right bitch, I Sunk your Star Destroyer!"
  18. Christ that is a scary thought... :: shudder ::
  19. Damn skippy, and the replay value is astronomical. Very well worth the cash spent. Buy it... Come to the dark side... Give in...
  20. I'm not touching a VCR or TV set for AT LEAST a week. No fucking way...
  21. Well me and Kym finally saw this one last night. Damn it was good! Thirteen ghosts was good, and spooked me but after awhile the "fear" part of it wore off as you got used to seeing the ghosts. The Ring simply scared you worse and worse as it went on! I mean this was some seriously fucked up stuff! The breif flashes of images, that T.V. thing, and then just when you think one thing WHAM! Your so wrong its scary! Then the Ending!! Dear god that freaked me out Bad! One of those sudden realizations (like in blair witch "holy shit! He's standing facing the corner!!!!) where it just kind of slams you with fear right at the end. Jesus that was freaky!!
  22. One I always wondered about was Bionic Commando vs. The Contra trooper. Now thats a fight.
  23. Alright! Alright I'll try it ou... oh cool I unlocked a bonus campaigh in SW: galactic battlegrounds! :: Runs off to yet another distraction ::

Spongebob has a leg up on JMT! ...Wow, that conjures a horrid mental picture Anyhow, when the immortal yahven upgraded the boards there was a new option added just above the post button allowing you to select whether or not you have the "Edited by" line added or not. Shame too, gotta remember to quote before i walk through open doors now so theres proof. B)
  25. I've been wondering if 8th mile is like that, the Eminem one. Every trailer or commercial I see has some really badass tracks but I haven't heard if anyone really thought much of it or not.
