  1. Hey, now that sounds badass! I'll definitely be looking to borrow that trade. And as an addition, I think Comics should start having a little preview on the back in place of the usual ad. Like when you pick up a regular book and look on the back to get the gist of what the book is about. Nothing that gives anything away but maybe a paragraph explaining the direction of the particular book/series. I mean, when folks walk in to Y2K and gaze up at the massive wall of comics, how the heck are we supposed to know whats a good read? You can't go just based on the cover, some good books have crap covers some good covers hide bad books. And those of us not connisours don't know writer names to watch for or questions to ask at the counter really.
  2. Actually now that I think about it I only have the black album and the 2 disc set they did with the london symphony orchestra(i think) Of the other CD's i've heard a few tracks here and there but never sat down and listended to the full disc. So I guess I'm just Biased toward the black album. :sly:
  3. Like Junker said, this is one of the ones I got. Looking forward to giving it a go but as it is I've got... SW: galactic battlegrounds Serious Sam Rune Fallout 1 all currently on the playlist so until i beat one or two of them I'm having to hold off on... Fallout 2 Mechwarrior 3 Daikatana Oni Myth 2 Soulbringer Heavy metal 2 Abomination So my plates full for now and the forseeable future.
  4. Well here comes a big upset... GANDALF carries my vote. Yoda is a difinitive badass, let there be no doubt, but From what I've read and seen I don't think that a Jedi master Could defeat a legendary wizard such as gandalf. I do believe that yoda has the discipline and will power to be the ringbearer which Gandalf didn't trust himself enough, but in a Battle to the finish gandalf would remain at the end. it would be a spectacular and possiblly many day long battle but I don't think my boy Yoda could do it.
  5. Wooha! Managed to Iron a shirt all by my lonesome this morning. Took forever and probably did it the hard way but it got done without getting singed.
  6. You have the last issue!?!?! GIMME!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Well for me its a bit of a many sided answer but Centered mostly on lack of advertising. I like comics and I own a decent few but I just can't keep up with them at the level I'd like to. Mostly the comics I used to read crapped out and I just never went back honestly no comic has been advertised out that I can remember since the Death of Superman and that one only because of the earthshattering concept of killing the Man of Steel. The only comics I read anymore are good reccommendations from nick that consist of mostly trades or a short series run. I would read more but there really isn't much of an advertising market for comics. honestly as far as I know the only way you can get info is either going out and searching for inormation on the web or at comic shops or subscribing to the Wizard. And the neverending lines like X-men, or the suddenly branching 5 ways Superman comics kind of keep me from getting into the bigger stories. I really prefer the short runs when the storylines get interesting or popping in for a 1 shot issue where something interesting happens and then out again. Otherwise i'm also kind of tired of the superhero style comics unless a particularly good shortrun is being done, i'm going more now for the preacher type stories or other non-standard comics. Trades are also a big winner for me because I don't have to wait 30 days between cliffhangers and usually the story starts and ends, letting me enjoy what i read and not giving a crap writer or lack of new ideas a chance to kill a good series. Had I change in the piggybank so to speak i'd probably buy a good bit more comics if i were to hear some tell about them but as it is you have to already be into comics to know about them. So for the time being I'll just take recommendations from the irishman and continue my merbership to the national comic book library over at polo club.
  8. I've always preferred the black album myself. Enter sandman, sad but true, hell their all classics on it. Could listen to that sucker all day long and not get tired of it.
  9. Coma patients make great girlfriends. Think about it, always willing for some sex and never speaks a word! You'd have to find a Mute Nymphomaniac to beat that! Boy i bet festivus is gonna get active over that one. heh.
  10. Well this is true, some cults just don't die. But still, I'm gonna try and beat these three (sam, rune, Fallout 1) before diving into anything else, multiplayer included. Once I beat all 10 i can go back to unintentionally thwarting chiefy's every attempt at a Diablo match.
  11. Been really interested in this one, I've been avoiding decaprio like the plague after his CRAP movie post-titanic binge but its good to see this and gangs on new york came out good. I'm eager to give them a go, specially this one since its a true story.
  12. Alright but then that gives advantage to middle earth, han would get turned into a pincusion by Legolas and Gimli, Boromir and Aragorn would cut a swath through the mass of starwarsians until they hit a jedi who at least knows swordwork but their used to just the weight of the saberhilt so their going to fight like crap. No, no, no... the fair way to do this is an all out NO WEAPONS Brawl. Mano a mano, pure unarmed Melee combat. That would make for an interesting fight, not even sure that I could pick out a winner for that one, even numberwise they'd be evenly matched. That would be a good Brawl!
  13. When man invented fire, he didn’t say, 'hey, let’s cook', he said, 'great, now we can see naked bottoms in the dark.' -Steve(coupling)
  14. "Salesman: Why do girls like you always have a boyfriend? Susan: Because I have acute nymphomania and a my own brewery." -Susan(Coupling)
  15. We are men. We are different. We have only one word for soap. We do not own candles. We have never seen anything of any value in a craft shop. We do not own magazines full of photographs of celebrities with their clothes on. -Steve(coupling)
  16. I was wondering if there was still alot of Multiplayer support out there since all the 5 pack games are kind of dated. Mainly I'm trying to beat these three so that I can install some more and get through all 10. Then later i'll try out some of the multiplayer.
  17. Heh, Seems like these things dissapear into a black hole after they get read. Now theres a marketing scheme that'll sell more issues.
  18. Well Finally Finished the Hobbit, and I'm 1/3 of the way through Lord of the rings. So far i've come to the conclusion that Hobbits REALLY like to sing.
  19. Gadzooks! I'm a top ten overall poster! Nicks diarrea of the keyboard must be contagious!
  20. Granted I haven't played it yet myself but I've seen the extended trailer and demos on a free disc from hollywood so Heres my limited observations. This time its set up as a First Person Shooter(FPS) rather than the traditional sidescrolling action platform. Looks like it was really done well, Graphics are so detailed that when particularly large blasts get shot or explode near you samus' eyes and (if a bright enough blast) face appear mirrored in the glass of your helmet. Things seem to shift pretty seemlessly from 1st person to Third to take Ball shape and drop into passages. The grappling hook and regular charge blast are all i can remember seeing but the targetting system looked pretty good. Can't wait to give this sucker a try over at IC's.
  21. Well I caved and ran over to best buy yesterday for a bundle I saw while christmas Shopping. Fallout 1 & 2 for $10. ::kicks his momma in the face:: BooYa! Fallout is an OLD (pentium 90 req. :O) role-playing game, set during a time with a 50's era mindset of disaster preparation and several massive vaults being built in the US in anticipation of Nuclear war. Sure enoguh it happens, and after about 80 years the survivors in your vault are running out of water due to a faulty chip in the water purifier. You draw short straw and need to go get another. And so out in the world you go. you can use one of the 3 preset characters or create your own(very easy). The good part is unlike most RPG's there is NO class system. You can use all skills (eventually) and simply need to pick what you will start off specializing in and add to it as you gain levels. Gameplay is slow at first but once you familiarize with the controls it becomes very easy. The graphics and view are Similar to Diablo I (a bit dated but still good) and Combat is turn based (may take getting used to if your a Real time fanatic, but it works very well) and can get very challenging. The Real appeal to this game is that while there is a plot to follow you are given an extrordinary amount of leeway in how you get there. Seriously, the game doesn't care what the heck you do, you can be a nice hero and dash around valiently, you can be a complete ass and shoot everything that moves, or you can just play by ear and take any course of action you see fit. Junker has played both games to complettion I think (I've not gotten far into 1 at all) so If he wouldn't mind posting I think he can give a much better review of part I and a very good one on part II. For now I'll leave you witha couple of shots of the Fabled "Vault-man" who appears gratuitously in the manual and in game character screen. He's classic *editors note: hi my name is mike and im not good at posting pictures

    Rune

Next in our holiday giftbag is the second disc from the Junker 5-pack. Rune, is a medeival action game set in the Viking era and takes you through rarely used Norse mythology. Odin saves you from certain death at sea and sets you out on a quest for vengance. You begin by fighting your way out of the underworld back to the Villiage you were sailing to defend. Graphics are average, theres a slight problem with the "horizon" being too close in a few of the bigger areas, but nothing too bad. The cutscenes aren't great, since they use in game graphics, but they serve their purpose. The plot is decent for an action platform, even thou I can't help but get an altered beast flashback during the beginning. Gameplay is handled well, the controls are set up quake style (left keyboard & Mouse) and are VERY responsive. The camara angles are cone well, giving almost complete control to the player and swap smoothly from third to first person view when in a tight space. Fighting is learned with ease, different weapons allow for a different fighting styles and each weapon obtained is slun or sheathed on your person in easy sight allowing for a "visual inventory" of sorts. Picking fruit off bushes and lizards off walls give health and even swimming has been made more interesting by being able to sideswim and backpedal in the water. (Gone are the days fixed spreadeagle dogpaddling!) And beware in the water some of the fish WILL swallow you whole. Level design is done very well, the levels are logically put together, with traps, hidden doors, breakable walls and pushable doors all laid out well enough that the "casual glance looking for a discolored spot" won't get you anywhere, but nothing is so hard as to get you stuck. Some areas seem impassable until you realize you can do some "prince of persia" style leaping and a bit of vine climbing. All said and done its a very fun game, being able to throw items and being able to sever limbs and heads go well together and beating a goblin with its own severed arm just has a certain enjoyment all its own. :approve: A good buy if you can pick it up, nice change from the traditional FPS mania going around.
  23. Ok Time to go on a gaming review spree, finally came into about 8 titles on christmas and i figure i'll share the joy. Sure their slightly old but hell, why not? Serious sam by Croteam. First of a fivepack sent by junker. Its a Quake style shooter but really is original in its own way. Its set in Egypt, recent digs uncovered a ancient far superior civilization had once resided in that area then alterdimensional aliens began invading a few years later. So bad was the scourge that humanity is all but wiped out, survivors find an ancient time device and send their best soldier, Sam, back in time to stop the invasion as its begun. You start off with a knife and a .45 revolver with an ammunition repenisher stolen form the aliens. Also you have an implanted thinking computer that stores info on the various baddies you meet (as well as suggest fighting tactics) and helps guide your progress through the game. Weapons you pick up are single and double barrel shotguns, a second .45 for double handed firing (very nice and not often done in most games sadly), rocket launcher, and Chain gun. There may be more but I've not gotten poast the third level as of yet. The 3D graphics are up to par with the current standard and effects are done very well, Some enemies have a range of dying options and others smoke or show other signs of stress as they take damage. The plot is nothing spectacular, kind of a duke nukem feel, but the gameplay is the true gem. The levels are masterfully laid out to give decent cover but allow ample room to move, keyboard commands are laid out very well using the mouse and the left keyboard admirably. Enemies are both prelaid out on the map to be seen and also are teleported into existance as you pass certain areas for ambushes. Enemy types are very spread out from your basic shooting and grenade slinging baddies to kamakazie bombadiers, charging werebulls, high flying harpies and a variety of mechanized genetic monstrosities. There are several areas where simple ambushes turn into long hard battles for survival against multiple waves of the enemy. And its not a simple pick the mini-gun and cut them down either. You need to very quickly devise tactics for what guns to use for what enemies because ammunition is spread well but thin enough to run short if used gratuitously. Kinda like resident evil save it till you need it. The enemies are both air and ground, projectile and charging/leaping. Its a race to kill them before they reach you in some cases and others is a kill frenzy where your zipping in between and around a cluster of pissed aliens. Very challenging with easily 50+ baddies screaming moving and shooting but not impossible, just save often and fight smart. This is a very fun game, one that actually keeps you on your toes and jumping at shadows never knowing where the next onslaught is coming from. And is chock full of carnage and mayhem when the fight does break out. Highly reccommended to one and all.
  24. Hmm I love my boy link but I think Shinobi would take ther fight. Link is a hometown hero, basically experiance taught and more of a toe to toe fighter. Shinobi is a trained ninja, very nimble and fast. I can see link getting pinned behind his shield a goodly bit trying to deflect shurikens and having a hard time hittin the ninja who's trained to NOT get hit but slip in for opportunity shots. Would be a nice one to watch.
