Thelogan
Zelda Rubinstein, the 4-foot-3-inch actress who declared “This house is clean!” in Poltergeist, died at age 76 at 1:59 a.m today, according to her agent Eric Stevens. Rubinstein was most famous for playing the oddball psychic Tangina Barrons, but she also appeared in movies including Sixteen Candles, National Lampoon’s Last Resort, and Southland Tales, and was an AIDS activist long before it was considered fashionable, appearing in a series of AIDS-awareness advertisements. I'm gonna miss her. Also: Behind the Mask was awesome.
Iambaytor
God yes it was, I remember being shocked that she wasn't dead THEN. There was no other actress in the business with a voice as memorable and interesting as hers (not even Linda Hunt), ah well, there's worse ages to go at than 76. Lycaon
May she rest in peace. It's odd, though. I thought she died a week or two ago. A friend was talking about seeing Anguish at the Alamo Drafthouse. Zelda Rubinstein was in attendance. I really need to see that movie.
