The title refers to the penny dreadfuls, a type of 19th-century cheap British fiction publication with lurid and sensational subject matter. The series draws upon many characters from 19th-century Irish and British fiction, including... I think it's better to not spoil which characters are involved, it's more fun that way. We're nearing the end of season 2 now, and while it hasn't been quite as good as the first season, it's still been of a very high quality. It's a must for horror fans and fans of classic horror literature. It's basically A League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen for horror. And season 2 trailer behind the spoiler tag. Quote
