spiffytee Posted September 28, 2003 Share Posted September 28, 2003 don't lie. i know yall download movies. we're pretty much all downloading, since we're somewhat computer literate. but it's such a big pain in the ass, right? it doesn't have to be. so i'm throwing around an idea - a community help each other out idea. I propose we can call it hondo's exchange. Instead of downloading, we just trade what we all already have through the mail. never have i organized the movies that i have, but it will be a task, but before i draw out some guidlines and put out a list, i'd like to know if it's something that is feasible. I should move this to general sometime, as he's rather serious; last night he was doing an inventory of his VCD's, and there's a shitload of em. I think the idea is, those of you with VCD & other copyable formats, he wants to trade movies. Ive mailed a few things to a few people on this board, so im personally very comfortable with the honor system. Spiffy wants to get new movies to pile into his archive of piracy, but he also really wants to share what he's got. Some good ones in there too, rarities like Battle Royale are cool. I keep meanin to watch barber shop...anyway, hopefully he'll post back here soon. I don't mind either to help yall out and distribute. i swear i'm not makin anything off of distrubuting, but expenses come out to approx $1 per cd, shipping being more expensive than the actual cd. The postal service kinda tops off somewhere (where a little extra weight doesn't affect shipping as much,) i'm not sure where, but i'll reimburse accordingly. so fire away. It is basically a cd with picture that was a big hit in the east because it was so easily copied. The picture ranges from crap to near dvd quality depending on the source and how well it was converted to vcd format. You can play these in computers (basically mpeg1 or mpeg2,) specialized vcd players and dvd players that are compatible. For the average joe with a computer, it sometimes can be tricky to make a copy of these. the list's primary format is divx or xvid. Think of mp3 technology, only this time, it's done to a movie. These files are usually mpeg4 format and have the extention of .avi. As with an mp3, depending on the source and the size the file, the better the resolution and sound. You can play these in computers with easily downloadable codecs (kind of like plugin software) and select dvd players that are compatible (new, new technology.) It is recommended that you have a 500mhz+ computer to play these files. Anyone that can make a data backup to cd can make a copy of a divx file. dvd. LIAR! I see that ps2 in your living room!
