The NZA
After much, much hype from several friends, I am in the process of acquiring (slowly) season 1, looking forward to finally checking this one out in about a week or so, hopefully. I know there's a few fans here, so yeah, sell me on this one too, cause i basically zoned out when people talked about it before. In this concept drama, each season takes place within one 24 hour period. Jack Bauer is the head of an elite team of CIA agents who uncover an assassination plot targeting Presidential nominee David Palmer. Meanwhile, Jack's strained marriage to his wife, Teri, is pushed to the brink by the sudden disappearance of their troubled teenage daughter. What will the next 24 hours hold? That sounds like a busy man. review here: Such a simple idea--yet so fiendishly complex in the execution. 24, as surely everyone knows by now, is a thriller that takes places over 24 hours, midnight to midnight, in 24 one-hour episodes (well, 45-minute episodes if you subtract the commercials). Everything takes place in real time, which means no flashbacks, no flash-forwards, no handy time-dissolves. Every strand of the plot has to be dovetailed and interlocked so things happen just when they should, in the right amount of time. Not that easy.Creator Robert Cochran and his team of writers and directors have done an impressive job of putting the jigsaw together and keeping the tension ratcheted up high, as federal agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) runs around L.A. trying to stall an assassination attempt on an African American presidential candidate and rescue his wife and daughter from the clutches of the Balkan baddies. Twists, turns, revelations, and cliffhangers are tossed at us with satisfying regularity. It's not perfect: we get some hokey plot devices (instant amnesia, anybody?); the final twist makes no sense whatsoever; there are altogether too many huggy family moments; and as for Dennis Hopper's "Serbian" accent.... Even so, this is undeniably mold-breaking TV. Sutherland, rescuing his career from the doldrums in one heroic leap, fully deserves his Golden Globe. Sets and locations are artfully deployed, and Sean Callery's score is a powerful, brooding presence. Like Murder One and The Sopranos, 24 is one of those series that future TV thrillers will be measured against

The NZA
I cant believe i took so long to finally check this out, with all the hype friends pushed on it. LL's right, im simply not watching it fast enough - im at about noon on season 1, and im already becoming a fan of Bauer. This shit is heads and shoulders above a majority of shows out there. Nanno
Jack Bauer is a legend (in the words of SoF). I love the guy, and the show is just amazing! We're into the final few episodes of the latest season. It really is gripping stuff.

The NZA
Shit, so those of you watchin this are cleary way ahead of me....im crazy behind, its like 5pm in season 1 and shit's comin to a head...if Bauer makes it outta this, he's got a powerful ally with Palmer, who's also hard not to like, in that he's the completely non-realistic politician with integrity. My roomate just got seasons 2-5, so if the quality keeps up like this, ill be on this one for a long while to come - Rescue Me is in season 3, waitin on Shield seaosn 6, and this thing's crazy-long, but crazy awesome. archangel
Don't remember.... I had rented the first disc from Blockbuster to try to get Bunny and my friend into it. I got hooked, they didn't. When I went to go back and rent the rest of the Season...they didn't have Discs 2 or 3. I've tried to hunt it down, but it's always either a. on loan or b. lost. is sending me 2-3, so I should get them by tommorrow. I'm probably up to Hour 4 or 5 Edited June 8, 2006 by archangel
