I played 1 and 2 pretty avidly by the time 3 had rolled around I was playing SF to SSF (?) if I've got my timeline down right. I never really liked how combos "felt" in the MK games same reason I didn't play Killer Instinct too much. In a press release issued today, Warner Brothers Interactive has confirmed that NetherRealm Studios' upcoming version of Mortal Kombat has been refused classification by the Australian Classification Board, which is effectively the kiss of death for a game to be released to gamers down under. The official statement from Warner Brothers Interactive reads as follows: The highly anticipated video game Mortal Kombat, published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) in Australia, has been refused classification by the Australian Classification Board and will not release in Australia. We are extremely disappointed that Mortal Kombat, one of the world's oldest and most successful video games franchises, will not be available to mature Australian gamers. WBIE would not market mature content where it is not appropriate for the audience. We understand that not all content is for every audience, but there is an audience for mature gaming content and it would make more sense to have the R18+ classification in Australia. As a member of the iGEA, WBIE is reviewing all options available at this time. While this news is very unfortunate for Australian gamers, it is not out of the norm. Unfortunately, the list of banned games for the country is quite extensive. Mortal Kombat is set for an April 19th release in the States and Canada while Europe gets it at midnight on "Mortal Monday", April 18th. My condolences to our friends in oz.
