Aartemys
Last night was the 68th annual Golden Globes Host: Ricky Gervais. Some people say he was too harsh, some people loved that he popped some elite bubbles. I think he was OK. He's not part of the Hollywood game and he let it be shown. I chuckled at most of his comments. Red Carpet: I don't always agree with Best & Worst lists...my picks for best were Sandra Bullock, Eva Longoria (although she almost ate it walking to the podium), Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Lopez, Tina Fey, Scarlett Johannson, Michelle Williams, & Natalie Portman. Worst was Helena Bonham-Carter. We get it...you are artistic -- but? Also on the blech list was Gabourey Sidibe, Tilda Swinton & Julianne Moore. The awards: Cecil B. DeMille Award - Robert De Niro Motion Picture/Drama - The Social Network Actress/Drama - Natalie Portman in Black Swan Actor/Drama - Colin Firth in The King's Speech Motion Picture/Comedy or Musical - The Kids Are All Right (I saw this...did not think it was a comedy...a good movie, but not a comedy) Actress/Comedy or Musical - Annette Bening in The Kids Are All Right Actor/Comedy or Musical - Paul Giamatti in Barney's Version Supporting Actress/Film - Melissa Leo in The Fighter Supporting Actor/Film - Christian Bale in The Fighter Animated Film - Toy Story 3 Foreign Language Film - In A Better World (Denmark) Director - David Fincher for The Social Network Screenplay - Aaron Sorkin for The Social Network Original Score - Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Social Network Best Original Song - "You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me" in Burlesque TV Series/Drama - Boardwalk Empire Actress TV/Drama - Katey Sagal in Son's Of Anarchy Actor TV/Drama - Steve Buscemi in Boardwalk Empire TV Series/Comedy or Musical - Glee Actress TV/Comedy or Musical - Laura Linney in The Big C Actor TV/Comedy or Musical - Jim Parsons in The Big Bang Theory (YAY SHELDON!!) Mini-Series or TV Movie - Carlos Actress/Mini-Series or TV Movie - Claire Danes in Temple Grandin Actor/Mini-Series or TV Movie - Al Pacino in You Don't Know Jack Supporting Actress/TV - Jane Lynch in Glee Supporting Actor/TV - Chris Colfer in Glee Did anyone else watch it? Aartemys
Yeah, I was surprised how it was almost a sweep like that. I would've thought that either Alice in Wonderland or Inception would get it for film score I am used to movies that I didn't see winning all the awards, but it did boggle me. Apparently its a really good movie...

the division of joy
I'd love for The Social Network to do so well at the oscars. I'd give an arm for Trent Reznor to get an oscar of some sort.
La Lindsay
i hope so too...it was so weird seeing him accept an award, but definitely deserved. the social network was a very well-crafted and engrossing movie, though i still think inception was a better movie overall. i think the most overdue award went to christian bale. it's about damn time! The NZA
aw, man...i clearly missed the highlight. Depp was not having a good time, methinks. also, Iron Man needed his armor that night. related:
Mr. Hakujin
Saw that Nietzsche bit before, but the Emmy gag was new to me--and frickin' hilarious. Gervais may be the most hated man in Hollywood at the moment, but he's got balls the size of cantaloupes for turning what's traditionally one long ego circle jerk into a roast.
