alive she cried
So while searching google images for reference material for a project I'm working on, I came across this drawing Intrigued, I wanted to see more. I discovered that I had a stumbled upon an artists blog, this is how he described the above drawing: Today I drew a small cooking pot. I worked to try draw the potions of the pot that gleamed with reflected light. I tried to accomplish this mainly with heavy shading. I think a better way would be to shade around the bright spot and leave the bright spot white. Immediately I realised I had discovered the new Chris Simpsons artist...but serious this time. Okay then Broccoli This is my sketch of broccoli, a high vitamin E food. It was rather difficult to sketch, especially with a pen. Bananas This is my sketch of bananas, a high magnesium food, and a high potassium food. Halibut This is my sketch of Halibut, one of many high magnesium foods. I was surprised to see that these fish can get quite large. Chili Powder My sketch of Chili Powder, another one of many, Vitamin A Foods. A Carrot This is my sketch of a carrot, another immune boosting vitamin A food. Anna Vital This is my sketch of Anna Vital of the Daily Vital Blog. Anna is a truly inspiring person who has met some powerful people and is going places. Swimming in a Strawberry I want to swim with you inside a strawberry. Michael Bloomberg This is my sketch of Michael Bloomberg, the Media Billionaire and NYC Mayor who just appointed a media exec to head education in NYC. You know, it is all good, I messed up his nose a bit. Sorry Blooms. KanYe West I am a big fan of KanYe West and his entrepreneurial, anti-college, super innovative change the game type rap. Yeah. So...um...next time I will try draw a better portrait of him. His new movie is also cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg5wkZ-dJXA Dave Chappelle This is my sketch of Dave Chappelle, but it did not turn out so well. :/ Elmer McCollum My sketch of Elmer McCollum who first isolated vitamin A and most of the B vitamins. He also introduced the idea of naming vitamins by letter. Random Face Here is another random portrait. I think my shading worked here, though it is a little less than subtle. Christopher Nolan My sketch of Christopher Nolan, the famous film producer who brought Batman back to life. Someone had to do it! And you all know we have seen a modern batman movie. *Activate bat belt nostalgia* Jack White My very quick sketch of Jack White of the White Stripes. Part because I am tired, and part because fast content creation is Jack's style. Audry Hepburn Nose and Ears = Challenge Eddie Vedder My sketch of Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam: Coco Chanel days 5 and 6 Sorry, I missed yesterday due to being out all day. Here is day 5. Which I drew upside down and ended up being a very fat Coco. I hope she forgives me. Also, the ear ended up too high this time, I think I was trying to compensate. Here is day 6, or today. Frustrated with my last one, I drew this one right side up, but maybe in a rush. I feel heavy in my head today and I don't know why, but we all have days like that... Coco Chanel with a hat Sketch of Coco Chanel with a hat. Study of Shading This is my study of shading, where I really just experimented. I think that I lost contrast with the eyes and everything, and I probably needed to define them with shading. I made it a real challenge on myself using pen though, and I will probably try this again with pencil. Coco Days 154 and 153 Day 154 A Coco Chanel without starting with an oval. Day 153 An abstract Coco. How many places do you find Chanel? Update John Laible my friend: Sketch of my friends: The aeroplane wing: Boy Lion: The Waterfall of Alcoholism: Some Random Person Out of a Magazine Just some random person. My goal was to work on shading. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep a straight face. Coco Comission Like the First Version: Intelligence waves don't say anything Just chillin Social Pressure My abstract depiction of social pressure: Cabin in the Woods My cabin in the woods Matt Kaeberlein My sketch of Matt Kaeberlein who, as I read today, proposed that the TOR and Sch9 kinases regulate longevity in yeast. Dr. Kaeberlein is a researcher at the University of Washington Pathology Department. As for the sketch, well one day I will learn how to draw teeth and a proper smile, but as for right now, this is the best I can draw. Also, this is day 200 of this project. Grant Baldwin My sketch of Grant Baldwin, current Acting Deputy Director of the CDC. I messed up his nose, but I am tired today...so...yeah. Woo! Centers for Disease Control. yeah! Peggy Lee My sketch of jazz singer Peggy Lee. I thought I was getting better at these portraits, then I produced this drawing. :( Daniel Alegre My sketch of Daniel Alegre, Google's Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales & Operations. Daniel, if you ever see this, you have got a cool name! Eric Schmidt My sketch of Eric Schmidt CEO of google. It may soon become part of my "God Bless the CEOs" series. :o Abstract Improv - In which I scare myself My take of abstract improve. I was thinking bottle caps. I got scared after I drew the eyes. That is the power of drawing. Wait for the happy accidents, be brave for the ones that aren't so happy. And yes. I am sober. Pfft. Johann Sebastian Bach My sketch of composer Johann Sebastian Bach. The guy had 2 wives and 20 children and so it is no surprise that he produced some of the most peaceful and soothing music ever composed. Bach is back baby! Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel My sketch of Gabrielle Bonheur ~Coco~ Chanel Champion of Style Here's the link to the Paul House's blog. alive she cried
Yeah, if it was just the drawings and nothing else then I wouldn't have started the thread. I always try to encourage people to draw, whether they're great at it or not, it's a great release. But no this thread is here because of Bananas This is my sketch of bananas, a high magnesium food, and a high potassium food. Abstract Improv - In which I scare myself My take of abstract improve.
