I decide to make a poll for some on Hollywood's biggest stars and actors. I already know what movie I am picking... Heat... I tried to put a wide varity of different movies...

please put what and why you picked a movie...

I picked Heat because of all of the action and drama. For me drama is evil but I am able to deal with it as long as action balances it out and Heat does that. :D

Not a bad list, certainly better than I would have suspected from you, but you missed Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter, and Once Upon a Time in America. The first two are crucial, and from your list, I don't know if Analyze This, Heat, or Jackie Brown is necesary. It's not so much your fault as this board's fault for limiting the poll options to 10. I'll have to think about this before I vote myself, but I would have the poll edited to include at least Raging Bull. At least one person is going to want to vote for Raging Bull.

"Spongbob, you coulda been a contendah" (In De Niro-faux-Brando Mode)

Analyze This - Uh...yeah....good movie...*ahem* May as well included Analyse This too.

Heat - Passable I 'spose

Godfather Trilogy - I somehow missed him in the Godfather 'trilogy'. He was only in Part II.

GoodFellas - Okay. This one's good

Jackie Brown - Not really a DeNiro flick...what's he in it for twenty minutes?

Great Expectations - Blagh. Stupid destroying my favorite book.

Brazil - I'm not that big on Gilliam and there's better that's been left out. But I'm sure it'll get a few votes.

Taxi Driver - I've not beef with this

The Untouchables - Or this

Casino - Or this

But the shit you missed, man....

On top of JMT's list of movies that weren't included....

Where's Mean Streets? And The King of Comedy (highly under-rated but a fucking classic)

Even Midnight Run or The Mission or Angel Heart for Christ Sake. They deserve places over HEAT, Great Expectations and Analyse This. Sleepers too...

Well the moral of this tale is I'm refusing to vote. You left out my favorite De Niro movie of all time -

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle

Nah...not a big Gillman man - Liked 12 Monkeys though.

He was the coolest part of Angel Heart besides that chick from the Cosby Show nekkid (how easy it is to please me...). He was Lou Cypher (remember now?).

King of Comedy is a great black comedy.

And as for Sleepers I loved the book and only saw the movie two years ago (or so) and thought De Niro was pretty pimping in it.

Actually as far as DeNiro movies go, Rocky and Bulwinkle could be a..."contendah" so to speak. It was one of the few movies where he actually played a character, instead of his usual tough-guy mafia persona.

Too many good ones left out, but if I had to pick from the list, I'd say Goodfellas. Good as he was in Godfather II, it wasn't really his movie, it was Pacino's. And I thought Casino was kinda just a repeat of Goodfellas. Actually David Spade mentioned that in "Spade on America" once. "Yeah, Casino. I saw that before when it was called Goodfellas"

Yeah he did direct A Bronx Tale. I'd personally pick Cape Fear over Ronin, though (though I loved Ronin, I thought Cape Fear was a more interesting character for him). Or maybe even Awakenings. But 's Spongey's call, really. I just got this moderator gig. I ain't abusing it right away by takin' over some guy's poll

ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE!!! Where is it??!! Come on as if anyone's gonna vote for The Deerhunter (what is that something set in the woods or something ripping off the Blair Witch Project)? Raging Bull (I think I heard of this one - he's a farmer right? Something to do with the Amish and a witness?). Godfather II (I saw the original with Steve Martin on T.V. and it was cool). The rest are pretty obscure so I'm not gonna comment but I will say they probably suck!

ROCK ON!

Jesus! No votes for taxi driver? If any of this is his movie, taxi driver is his fuckin movie, Deniro as travis bickle is one of the best performances in the history of movies... raging bull does indeed come close tho. I also loved him in frenkenstein because it showed how diverse the fucker can be when he really wants to. He needs to get out of this fuckin typecast rut he's in now and make some more good stuff.

My favorite was the one where he said "I saw the Stone Temple Pilots on tour this summer. Yeah, they were ok, but I liked them better when they were called Pearl Jam!"

I didn't mind that one that much, cause it was still a great movie, and it hadn't gone that far yet. Now, De Niro is only capable of playing a role that involves crime. This annoys me. Why the fuck does he have to be a cop or a criminal? Did anybody see that shitty lookin one, City on Fire? I sure as hell didn't. Normally, I'd see anything Deniro puts out, but that one crossed the line cause it didn't look bad, it looked boring, and there's nothing worse that a movie can be. He needs to do something entirely different, and while the comedy thing is alright, he's still playing cops and robbers, he's just overplaying it now so that it's funny.
