  1. Let's not forget, Blu-ray was BRAND SPANKING NEW, when PS3 came out (it was basically a Trojan horse for the format). And we've basically been stuck with a gen-1 BD-drive for 6 years. Newer models of the same system can't really change up the drive speed for compatibility's sake, but with a TOTALLY new system I'm SURE we will be getting a much faster drive. Now there are 12x BD drives.

  2. Caught up on the last 8 episodes of season 6 in the span of like 3 days.

As for Kertain's theory, I'm pretty sure they say Gellar had been dead for 3 years! Uber-Creepy!

This season, made me realize what utter shit season 5 was. Kinda wish the whole Nebraska side story was more than just a one-off. They could have gotten a lot more life out of the whole "dark passenger manifested in the form of his brother". I would have liked to see some interplay between the voice of Brian and the voice of Papa Morgan. Gotta say, this season was a real return to form for the show. Everyone's side stories served either the main storyline or setup for future stories (Louis the creepy Intern, what's going on there?) this time out. As awkward as the whole Debster thing is, I love that it is just more evidence that Dexter is the most well adjusted character in the show! Sure it's twisted and seems sudden, but this is a really twisted show. Glad to see they aren't forgetting that! As far as the cliffhanger, Damn. It's bigger than season 4 if you ask me. I mean, season 4 was powerful, but this was like "OH shit....now what?!?".

During the credits, my girlfriend was like "Are they gonna show a preview for the next episode??"

"Babe, they probably haven't even written it yet, let alone filmed it."

Her face was priceless. The picture of despondency.

  3. And im not happy with what Miura said about the story being 70% finished, because i have the horrible feeling that hes going to let a lot of unanswered questions... Like never really telling us about the Knight skull's past/origin... or i would like to know more about the apostles. How did they get to be like that and so.

My biggest problem is that it doesn't even feel like he's anyway near done in terms of the narrative. If things felt like they were wrapping up, I'd be like "okay, ten to fifteen more volumes, I could see that." My biggest fear is that it will just end with a whimper, or feel really sudden.

Of course, we have to consider the time factor also...if he's 70% done, that means he's thinking it's going to be about 50 volumes total. At his current rate of production, it'll be another 14 years before he finishes!

    On a less depressing note:

For those of you who don't know Figma is a numbered imprint of figures (by MAX FACTORY I believe) similar to Kaiyodo's Revoltech line. While Revoltech's line is comprised mostly of Giant Robots (awesome!!), Figma's line, while equal in quality, is primarily girls in school uniforms, vocaloid programs, Japanese baseball mascots, and porn stars. Despite this, I've got a few figs from this line and they are really great quality!

Consider my surprise when I saw the LATEST in the Figma line:

    guts_figma_hwiow.jpg

Figma Guts figure!! Got mine on pre-order already!! Can't wait!

The Figma line usually comes with multiple faces, hands, accessories and are super pose-able. Everyone I've gotten has come with a clear positionable holder so you can get some really dynamic stances.

  4. You know, as much as I love me my Metal Gears, I always wanted Kojima to be able to explore creative ideas on new IPs and other systems. Nothing is worst for a creator than being bogged down and forced into pouring all of your creative juices into one thing over and over.

    Forced being the operative word.

I'm onto you Kojima. You could have walked away from Metal Gear. You keep making Metal Gear games because you love it. You're not fooling anyone!

While I would love to see you try your hat at something new (which we are apparently getting in the form of this Project Ogre, and the FOX engine, which looks amazing!!) I will still support you in all your Metal Gear efforts. As long as you love making them, I will love playing them!

Oh a related note, while many of you have been playing your Skyrims and Dark Souls and Zeldas, I've been playing some Metal Gear HD collection! Just finished first play through of MGS2, which I hadn't played since Substance, and while I remember it as being the weakest in the series, I loved the hell out of it all over again. I can't wait to play 3 again, and Peace Walker is going to be a real treat as I never even got to play that one!!

  5. Where does it compare in terms of wrongness to A Serbian Film?

I don't think its in the same ball park as A Serbian Film.

    Except for maybe one scene....

Of course, I just saw that the rip I watched might have been the censored version?! I'm not sure how that's possible...

  6. the-human-centipede-2-poster-is-gross-nsfw-22476-1316790317-4.jpg

    Did not like.

Part one was delightful, and about as classy as a movie about a human centipede could aspire to be.

I remember reading about the strong outcry about the "depravity" of the first film, and how Tom Six's reply to which was something along the lines of "Oh, you think my movie is depraved, I'LL SHOW YOU DEPRAVED!"

Well, he did it. He made a film that is, for all intents and purposes, deserving of all the decrying heaped upon the first film, and I really have to question the wisdom of that decision.

As a film buff, I can appreciate the sequel on several levels, there were certainly some interesting decisions made...

For instance, the decision to set the film in a world where the first film is in fact a film. Also, the main character never speaks, and there is very dialog as a whole in the film.

I just didn't find it enjoyable.

I actually called a friend of mine who is a HUGE fan of the first one and told her not to even bother with part 2. To be honest, the film made me very uncomfortable, and I'll probably not watch it again.

  7. But this is Beenox, and they've been throwing rocks lately. Did anyone play edge of time? Looked solid enough.

I really liked Shattered Dimensions, and was looking forward to Edge of Time. A friend of mine download a rip of it for his modded Xbox the week before it came out. I plodded through for about two hours waiting for something interesting to happen, to no avail. When I quit out and checked the chapter select, I had played through about half of the game.

The seemingly endless array of colorful environs from Shattered Dimensions are gone.

Apparently, the ENTIRE game takes place in an office building, so you progress through level after level of BLAND warehouses, factories and laboratories.

    All the cool bosses, GONE.

As far as I can tell, there are a whopping TWO people from Spidey's rogue gallery in the game, one of whom shows up suddenly in a cutscene and immediately gets sucked into time vortex.

You DO get to fight Anti-Venom like 3 times though (with the EXACT same pattern no less)!!! That's as good as having multiple bosses, right?!

Beenox DID change the combat engine a bit. The thing is, the changes are all weird and I hate them. "What button do I press to lock on to enemies....there isn't one....okay, I'm pretty sure I could lock on to people before".

And the much touted mechanic where your actions in one time effect the other, well it's ALL scripted events. And they are usually mundane things that would be solvable in ANY OTHER game without ALTERING THE SPACE TIME CONTINUUM!

O'Hara: Hey parker there's a box in my way.

Parker: Okay, can't you move it?

    O'Hara: Nah, it's kinda heavy.

Parker: Well isnt there a switch or something? Maybe a air duct you could use to get around it?

    O'Hara: (shugs) Idontknow?

Parker: Well, look around or somethi-

O'Hara: LOOK man, this game is supposed to have cool time paradox stuff in it so help a brother out!

Parker: Okay, but you are assuming that nobody's moved that box in almost nintey years. Oh, here it is..(punches box)

    O'Hara: Thanks dude!

I was hoping you'd be able to switch back and forth between spider-mans (spider-men?). Nope, the time jumps are all scripted as well.

It's a REAL shame. I don't know how Beenox TOTALLY dropped the ball with this, imo. I really, REALLY want to like it and support it (with money), because it's basically a 2099 game featuring "our time" spidey, (The plot begins in 2099, and it's O'Hara that's moving things forward). I tried Edge of Time, I really tried.

  9.

From the very first trailer I wasn't sure how to feel about this game. In the past I felt that Western developers were always playing catch up to their Japanese counterparts. This gen however, there been this strange role reversal, where Japan is trying it's best to emulate 'Western Style' games (often with disastrous results) in an effort to get a hold of the 'changing market' as they perceive it.

On the surface, Dragon's Dogma seems to be just that, Japan's Dragon Age.

But then I heard about THIS!!

  10.

Man, the show was in DIRE need of some culling and Sam's Fam was at the top of my list of people I wanted to see dead. Would have preferred if Tommy had bitten the big one too, but I'll take what I can get!

Last fifteen minutes or so of the finale were crazy.

After killing off Tommy last episode, they added four more fatalities! While I was sad to see some go (Jesus!) we've all agreed the show was in desperate need of some pruning!! Although, with both Jesus and Tara gone I can't think of any reason for Lafayette to stick around!
