  1. Yeah, Zach has a great attitude I find very inspiring. It took him all damn day, but he got that bagel. And that's a great story about you and your roommate at the theater. Applause was well earned. Some people would bitch and moan about no handicapped access and call it quits, others would find a way to make it work. Glad you two fall into the latter category.
  2. Same here. Bradley Cooper aaight and all, but HJB would crush it so hard.
  3. ^Ditto about noticing the graffiti. As for the movie, I thought it dragged a bit in the third act but overall very good. It definitely lives up to the hype. I didn't know that about the music video though. Pretty interesting Wright's idea for a film germinated from a music video. Thanks for sharing that, axels.
  4. Zach Anner is not only inspiring but also hilarious.
  5. ^^I think it's fair to say one of the darkest, most brutal versions of the Dark Knight in comics is Frank Miller's and the darkest, most brutal versions of Batman on film is BvS Batfleck. (I guess it could be interesting if we went into a discussion over the perceived violence in those Batman films versus the actual violence. Well, except for the Schumacher films b/c there's no way I'm rewatching those.) So I don't think it's a stretch at all to consider them analogous. You do make a good point about Miller's Batman never killing. I never claimed Miller's DK ever did kill, only that he was the Batman I tend to first associate with the most extreme brutality. Zach Snyder really should've been reminded of fact this prior to BvS though.
  6. Agreed, trailer gives more hope of it not sucking than the pics. Although, Maximus should've stuck to the natural, Ramsey, accent because that shit he's trying to pass off as an American accent is laughable.
  7. I like everything Matt Reeves is saying in that video. Seeing how much of it bears fruit or is actually realize don film is a longtime off though. So, who knows what we'll end up with. Agreed on both points. However, we've seen the latter Batman in pretty much every film (I suppose you could make an argument for him being a killer in Batman Begins) except BvS. So I really didn't mind him being a more brutal, Frank Miller (I'm the Goddamn Batman!) type in BvS. That type of Batman has a legacy in the comics, so I was okay with seeing it on screen. That being said. I hope either this film or a future standalone film in the DCEU adequately shows the audience how Batfleck got so vicious and brutal; something to show us Batfleck wasn't always this laissez fare about killing and that "something" mad ehim this way. My guess would be they're setting it up for a "Death in the Family" type situation with Joker pushing Batfleck over that edge to what we see in BvS.
  8. Just heard Henry Winkler will do mo-cap for new droid called F-0nZ.
  9. You could be right about this being a blessing because if Baytor was right then this firing just saved us all an embarrassing trip to the theater...and the cost of a new pair of pants.
  10. I'll give ya leeway to be salty for the Wolvie v Hulk debacle. It was an alright story, but not worth a three year delay. After Covenant you can see any problems with the script Prometheus were likely Ridley's doing. And get yer Trek titles right, yo. The great Ricardo Mantalban was in Star Trek II. Lindeloff scripted Into Darkness, which admittedly didn't live up to Wrath of Khan, but what can?
  11. Regarding that "reveal" from Mr. Wednesday in the S1 Finale:
  12. Lindeloff hate is so 2012. Leftovers was a fucking home run. A Watchmen TV show though, just not sure if want that in general.
  13. Grand Moff Kathleen Kennedy fires directors Miller & Lord for being too, uh, Millery & Lordy. Ron Howard is the name being thrown around in this article and others to replace them. Yeesh. He hasn't hit a homerun in a while. But maybe we'll get a Tom Hanks cameo. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  14. Eh, I don't think it's zooming off into space so much as expanding on the spaceship that's already there. (I'm not entirely sure if that metaphor makes sense.) Again, I'm not a attached to the source material as you, so I'm not as precious about the changes. Personally, I found this season very entertaining. Normally I'd be frustrated at a show that had a plot as meandering as this one, but much like Legion, this show has a winning combination of cast, characters, writing, and stylized direction that make it just fun to watch. Let us know what you think of it when you finish the season. The finale was great.
  15. Both of those were great for different reasons, axels. I see your Durstfeld and raise you an AC/GB.
  16. You talking about the "Prayer for Mad Sweeney" episode specifically or just in general? I really liked that episode. It finally made me come around to liking Laura as a character. And pretty much cemented Mad Sweeney as tied for my favorite character of the series w/ Mr. Wednesday. About to watch the S1 finale now. Looking forward to seeing what Chenoweth does as Easter and more Glover as Mr. World...
  17. Eh. I watched the online webisodes last month and was not impressed. The S3 trailers didn't impress me either. So I'm debating on dropping it and just not starting S3. Right now I'm just myself I've got enough TV/movies to keep me distracted (true) so I'll binge it later (possibly false).
  18. I saw the film on Sunday with a group of friends and we all enjoyed the film. There were at least two large groups of women at the theater who were all dressed in various WW clothes and costumes, which surprised me for a matinee show on a Sunday. I went to that same theater to for Rogue One on opening night and I didn't see that many people in cosplay. So the fanbase is definitely there for WW. Anyway, I'll probably see the film again in the theater, and I'll definitely add it to my collection of outdated plastic discs called blu-rays. Some questions after seeing the film, which I've a few repeated on a few websites, so I know I'm not alone with some of these.
  19. Some pics I dug on Reddit today. Pic #3 Is the "Tank Man" from Tiananmen Square back in June of 1989. It's 28 years later and there are still people protesting for democracy in China.
  20. This week I went back and listened to that first Audioslave album. Fuck. I forgot how many great songs were on that. I'm still not in the ASC camp of Audioslave>RATM, but that Audioslave debut album is fire. +1 for Iron Horse love. I was way into their covers a while back. I may have even posted some vids in the Mash-up/Covers thread before. I remember particularly liking their Green Day covers. However, I don't think I've ever heard those Metallica covers, "Rocketman" was definitely new to me. Great stuff.
  21. Now this is the good shit right here.
  22. That was a great clip! That show definitely slipped under my radar. I think it aired at a weird time in my area, so I never really saw it back in the day. :/
  23. I think RLM covers most of the plot problems I had with the film in this. SPOILERS, obviously. And these two clips would've made the film better, especially the second one as it establishes more of the crew dynamics.
  24. I only vaguely remember there even being a third Summers bro. So it's really between Scott and Alex. My main exposure to Alex was the 90s X-Factor book during the Peter David days with Madrox, Polaris, Strong Guy, and Rahne. (I think Quicksilver was on that team, too. Maybe?) And the most I can remember about Havoc was he was Cyclops' brother and dated Polaris. Scott's 90s, Jim Lee blue and yellow costume is one of the best superhero outfits ever. So he's got that going for him. Oh, and he pulls. So, uh, I guess Scott wins it.* Congrats, Scott. *I think Scott becomes a huge asshole around AvX time and kills a buncha people, but I never read any of those books, so I'm basing my judgement on the previously two listed criteria.
