  1. Call a spade a spade, TS may've been that in the past, but it's now all intros and birthdays. Pubs already has the big 3 threads, so why keep it buried at the bottom of the page? Consolidation is a fine line, too much and good threads get lost or never get a chance. Too little and no one can find a topic they want to discuss in the labyrinthine mess of forums and subforums. Personally, I'm more inclined to browse one forum than I am six; thus participation in potentially interesting threads is lost when I don't browse a forum b/c I forget it's there or don't even know it's there! Couldn't you fold those subforums in to Politics and just have a gif/emoticon used to designate the thread's filed, such as a dollar sign for a financial topic, or cross for a religious one, etc. like we already use the "NSFW" tag for.
  2. NZA, here is my two-cents on how you can possibly "clean-up" Hondo’s a bit. I actually meant to talk w/ you about some of this @ h-con, but you know how that went. Anyway, not trying to tell you how to run your ship, just my suggestions on how to streamline the ol' girl. Take 'em for what they're worth... Front Door Suggestion Box Town Square* Pubs** >>The Grill: Food & Drink recipes*** Hondo’s The Gathering *Keep it strictly for intros and birthdays. Move all other threads to “Pubs.” I never got the name either. Maybe call it the “front door,” “checkpoint,” “front gate” or something more in keeping w/ the fact this is strictly a place to intro yourself. Just sayin’. **I’d move this here as the most active threads are Blargh!, Blargh! Reply, and FHD. Those are al random, fun, feel-good type threads that should be easier to find for new members. It’s also basically our closest thing to a “safe for work” general chatter forum. Needs to be more up front and center. Possibly even a new name as it’s so close to “Barside” it can get confusing for n00bs. Only reason to reamain calling it “Pubs” really is the drunken posting thread. Maybe re-name “Pubs” TOWN SQUARE as it’s basically a general posting/gathering spot. Could move the drunken post thread to “The Grill” or to Crap Shack as it’s technically “NSFW.” ***I’d move the “What Was The last Thing You Ate” thread from Crapshack to here to maybe increase the traffic in there. Barside Socrates, Philosophies, & Hypothoses* Politics & Current Events* Culture & Sociology* >> Powder room >>NO MA'AM (?) Art & Literature *These subforums are dead, dude. Let 'em go in peace. **Weird Science could also be put down. Spread the threads over existing Barside forums. Entertainment I say keep this as is. It’s well organized and differentiated. Hell’s Kitchen* Pimp Hand** Crap Shack*** Fight Club *I say these two should remain separate. I’d put a “NSFW” tag on both of them though and make this the general “NSFW” forum. **If you do decide to combine these two you gotta keep the Pimp Hand Banner! However, I’d say keep ‘em separated. Hawt nudies go in PH and . . . ***Everything else NSFW can go here! I’d just make the Magic 8 Ballzak subforum stickythreads @ the top of CS though.
  3. It won't be as pimp as Ly's though. he got the supa-dupa fly wooden box edition. Nice! As for forum co-modding a NO MA'AAM subforumthingy, I'm all for it. I don't see the real reason for one and frankly never knew of/forgot about the existence of a Powder Room subforum altogether. I'm for consolidating most of the sub-forums back into their main forums anyway. Or at the very least NZA could somehow make the sub-forums stand out more, especially on the main forum menu page.
  4. Obviously you're coping w/ the horrors of "balls night out" by blocking the hiJZAinx. I wish I could do that. *shudders* Much like I wish I could block this "World's Worst Cartoon Character Hairdo" candidate from my mind. Haha! Segue.
  5. Just to quote me: You ever use a quote from a character played by Justin Long again, let alone to disparage MOTU, and I will have JZA come to TX and give you a combo Benny-neck/Mangina Special.
  6. You're welcome, kind sir. However, MH did most of the work and posted a list back on pg 7. I just added and edited a bit to hers. And here's He-Man just b/c it was missing. All these obscure craptoons, and y'all go and neglect a classic!
  7. I see your Mutant League and raise you a Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light. This is more than the intro as I couldn't find a decent quality intro only vid. Ok, I corrected the list--apparently I stopped mid-way through page 8 for some reason. Anyway, this list should be correct up to this page: 104 TV Cartoon Openings and counting! AAAHH!!! 8. 500 Days of Summer A This film reminds me of High Fidelity in a lot of ways. It has random guy humor, fantasy sequences, pop culture references mostly musically influenced, an excellent soundtrack that integrates music into the plot, and speaking of plot—a timeline that jumps randomly yet never leaves you confused on what’s going on with the characters. Unlike High Fidelity though, the protagonist, played by possibly the next John Cusack—one Mr. Joseph Gordon-Levitt—takes a much different journey through love found and lost. The journey is both entertaining and touching. Monsters vs Aliens B What is lacks in heart and characterization it makes up for in spectacle. The film was specifically made for “tru 3D” in theaters yet it is disappointingly not presented in 3D on blu-ray. However, it does have two short animated features that are in 3D yet it just makes you wish all the more the actual film was presented as such. UP A Pixar again achieves a masterfully crafted blend of emotion, entertainment, and originality in a beautiful CGI animated package. The first twenty minutes of the film is nearly void of dialogue (much like last year’s Pixar hit WALL-E) yet it never fails to hold your attention. The film begins on a bit of a sad note, okay, on a VERY sad note, but that just endears the audience all the more to the characters. Ultimately UP is uplifting.
  9. I second the awesomeness that is/was SUPER NINJA! And honorary to Drifter for the Kidd Video. I remember not liking the show, but always trying to watch the intro b/c of that hot drummer. "Aye-yai-yai" Here's my contribution. Punky Brewster. At the sweet age of six she was responsible for my first sex-dream. What can I say, I matured young. And I added on to MH's post a few pages back of all the shows listed in the thread thus far. Seems we're only 10 shows away from 100 AAAHH!!! 10. sigourney weaver let loose some apparently HUGE spoilers for GBIII here: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43351
  11. wow. nice find, newt! it's like a cross between van helsing (in costume), hellblazer, and conan. i'm there.
  12. Props to Big Pappa Thizzlogan for the Gaga piano vid. This song has been stuck in my head for going on two weeks: And ASC's Preacher/Cash vid got me in a mood to hear some o' this goodness:
  13. If you watch it for nothing else then watch it for drunken Hasselhoff-Fury Body Double eating a burger off the floor.
  14. It's sad, but my only exposure to the Lizard in comics is from the McFarlane arc as well. Personally I'd like to see a Hobgoblin in the next Spidey film WITH a mask that allows for facial expressions. And Frank Langella was the fuckin' bomb as Skeletor in the live action He-Man MOTU film.
  15. Not sure where to put this (no comics blargh! thread). But here's the NY Times graphic novel gift guide for 2009: http://www.nytimes.com/gift-guide/holiday-...ovels/list.html
  16. Malkovulture could be awesome. But Jr. Soprano would be equally as awesome in the part. And Black Cat must be ScarJo. MOAR ScarJo in tight leather outfits PLZ!
  17. really? i'm not digging the facial expression; it's a cross between a thuggish "what, motherfucka!?!" look and the expression someone would give at the onset of an atomic wedgie.
  18. i've seent his clip on hondo's somewhere before, no? maybe in the utada thread? i remember seeing a clip of her in there showcasing her awesome tetris skills... anyway, tetris is the shit. literally. i play it or bejeweled when i take the browns to the superbowl.
  19. So I was only kinda "meh" on Cameron's AVATAR base don the TV spots and previous trailers. Then I saw this BRILLIANT four minute featurette and now I'm actually excited to see this film in 3D.
  20. Fuckin' thrizzleogan comin' in and stealin my post's thundah. mumblegrumble Wow. Did that just really happen?
  21. LL: Let's talk S3 finale! Were you cheering when Roger Sterling said, "I know who to call." Then I loved that episode! Also, Peggy is awesome (especially how she stood up to Don in that episode), but Roger Sterling is my hero. That dude is so pimp he's beyond pimp. He's like the next level of pimp. Which I don't really think we have a word for in English, the closest thing would probably be Sinatra, but the Germans call it Überpimpesch. ;)
  22. Oh, such anger. I like that last line, but I think it's innacurate. And Hawking's A Brief History of Time would be on my short list of all-time favorite books. I'm sure Nza would have some Dawkins books on his as well, him being the pinko commie liberal that he is. Even if that were true, you'd still have to give Gore credit for making a film that created such a large and lasting discourse in our nation. Hell, it's still referenced today. Ultimately, I think all good filmmakers hope to make their audiences think and feel while entertaining them at the same time. A good documentary does that just as well as a good scripted film. However, I do agree the amount of work and cost put into a scripted film is greater than that of a doc thus the different categories for awards like the Oscars.
  23. Spiffy: Yeah, you did. And I agree on Bad Romance being a decent vid as far as WTF!??! vids go and the song being somewhere between mediocre and poor. But when you start lovin' on Britney & Beyonce but dis Hove it doesn't really help my case so much. ;)
  24. That pool table is pretty fuckin' sweet, kati. i'll file that under: things to buy when i'm a billionaire. That would be so sweet if you could actually get him for under $20 (i'm figuring in the s&h which is $7). Good luck!
